  1. Nice work james ,Hope you put the price up by a tenner every week they left it. What was up with the steel cable rich ??
  2. I've got a thing for the shimano 8010's definitely worth looking out for at the boot sale Jon, reliable work horse of a reel , I've abused mine badly and they still run as great as the day I got them.
  3. I like to make my cuts as close as possible to the block so again that's another reason I stay underneath, I find it easier to shuffle down as well.. There is obvious times being above is better though .
  4. It does make it easier in the long run though , thinking about it they do lighten up after a few weeks but the tightness of the bearing is a plus as you won't get that gritty dirty feeling you do off a standard one once it's worn and got grit in it.
  5. Mines the same as joes , it's fine.
  6. I was hoping you would not say it's in plastic as I can't get the thing off, but never mind... The locktite is a great tip thanks , think I'll order a new stud as it's still usable until I change the chain it seems ...Steve the only time I wish that is when my saws break !! I've wanted to move back here since we moved when I was a kid!!
  7. So billy how many days did you price it at in the end ??? Nice work and It sure looks a bigger tree than in your photos which stands to my first comment that you can't price by photos !!
  8. Clutch cover screw mate.
  9. May have over tightened the bar nut on the Ms 150, the nuts not coming off any time soon and when un tightening its un screwing the bar stud oyt. If this is totally removed and a new stud and but fitted should this be ok ? Would the new one need thread lock as well or have I just knackered the lot as I seem to recall I've possibly done this before and needed the hole for the stud re tapping.
  10. Although yew does come out like glass when finished with 240... Don't think it would suit those bits but would be interesting to try though... Outer wood tends to be white any way so don't know if you will gain much colour.
  11. Sand blasting will bring out the colour and remove the soft wood , if you sand it they will loose a lot of character IMO.
  12. I would go with 20mm for long dead eye strops for the pulley though, as Darin says you want the rope to be the week point.... I've barely used my 19mm line with the 16mm doing the bulk of work and feeling over kill at times. Oh and a decent tag line,13- 14 mm so you can pull stuff about to get in a tight DZ if needed.
  13. 16mm was the OP original reply for the LD2 not 14 ...... That's not too bad 👍
  14. Don't quote me on though .... I did ring up one of the UK suppliers with interest of buying one and was told to ring back and speak to some one else in the mean while a cheap Hobbs style block popped up so never got to find out its full spec.
  15. There was a member who brought one of the Arb pro bollards and the only comment he left was it could not be used for ropes bigger than 14mm ,not sure what happened with that though so I would check that out before committing, personally would go down the GRCS as its tried and tested and lots of feed back.
  16. Westcon equipment used to be spot on for getting any gravely parts I wanted a few years back.
  17. That's a few ! Quality there Mr Bullman.
  18. How do you find the BDB on long limb walks Adam if your not using a redirect or can't ,I've found the wrench kind of gets a lot more friction the more of an angle you get towards the end of the limb but not to the point it is a problem the HH was worse so what I'm trying to say is the BDB more free flowing overall?or is it so free flowing it becomes frustrating whilst trying to reduce high points as it's always pulling the rope tight and holding you back like I've found most mechanic devices do I've tried dirt ? Also do you find it easy for big swings when needed and not free falling !! , these are two things that concern me on a mechanical device but I got to say I've only tried a rope runner and I was not an SRT convert at that time but it felt very alien or would you just get one next pay time ?
  19. Quality work there Sam , really enjoyed watching that. Had the whole limb disappeared from the pulled cable or had it just pulled the screw eye ??
  20. Yep looks very valuable indeed that timber mark 😆 Nice crane work paddy.
  21. No darrin have not found the big saws a problem to be honest, I had 2 groundiess this morning and 3 yesterday basically we tag lined the timber off the back of the Forwarding trailer with a block and 4x4 to make life easy so it could pick up the lumps and save on cutting, worked well
  22. Rob D Mate , it's a nice bar on 404 skip chain as long as you let the dawgs do the work ... Just realised how many times I put "this" in that post as well,I blame that 88!!
  23. Finished off this dismantling this storm damage oak this morning , no drop zone and all had to be rigged but good fun!
  24. I would not let it bother you that is just arborsite, I would not even waste my time trying to make the effort of typing to contribute to that forum.
  25. Nice work work , drone footage made the vid.
