    Birch

I have about 40 tonne of birch which we cut this summer and has been stacked outside since August, it is between 3 - 10 inch diameter stuff. Will I be able to log and sell this now with it being birch, and will it burn ok on log burners without complaints !
  6. I run a 2006 L200 new shape and think it is excellent.I am getting 34-36 mpg with it,it drives like a car and pulls a trailer of logs no problem.I think it is different class to the old shape L200.
  7. I would like to know the the best way to mark thinnings.I need to do some thinning work next spring, and have several woods to mark for thinning. They range from first thinning conifers,to more mature, wider spaced conifer.
  8. I recall an old Forester telling me it was possible to estimate the tonnage of stacked timber.I can't remember the length of the stack, but it was 2 metre lengths by 2 metres in height.I think it was 10 metres long by 2 metres high by 2 metres in length was about 20 tonnes.Does this sound right ? It was stacked softwood pulp.
  9. What engine revs should I run it at 1000rpm PTO speed ?
  10. I will increase the tractor revs and slow the roller speed down and try thet. The timber I am putting through is spruce at 20% moisture content. What engine revs should I be trying it at ?
  11. Hi.We have used our new junkarri hj10 chipper today. The chips are coming off too big. They are coming through the machine as 5mm discs, which are fine, but some are the size of your hand.We are running it at 540rpm PTO speed, but what engine speed should we running it at,should it be about 2000rpm,or more(on a 60hp Same Dorado Tractor) What else could be the problem. The chipper is brand new.The chips are for a woodchip boiler,so need to be a lot smaller.
