  2. Check the compression or at least, pull the exhaust off and check the piston looks OK through the exhaust port. The 017 is old and a typical homeowner saw with both these things meaning the saw will have been abused and/or run on old or near fuel.

    Series 1?

County in LR terms is a trim level etc, nowt to do with County conversions to drivetrains. I had a County Transit back in the day, live axle front and back with twin wheels. It did the job for a bit but wasn't that good off road or on road tbh!
  4. As others have pointed out, you'd be hard pushed to justify why you skipped past using a MEWP on your Hierarchy of Controls if there's good access for using one on a clearly structurally compromised tree.

  7. And If I win the Lottery.....there will be a few clues. £200 mill..... I'll be Frickin nuisance. See me on the What xxxxxx to buy? Threads. Live in hope.
  8. Cannot see the problem when the saw does it for you, 2 stroke oil in the left, fuel on the right, as mentioned above just like a bike.
  9. A few new items this week. Its not identical, slightly louder but same engine design/character. I may be mistaken but it feels more powerful - but thats likely from the more open exhaust. I like it! Will give it a proper try tomorrow. Dislike - bar nut retaining clips not included, and just standard bar nuts, it uses two of them. Like - the on/off switch is a momentary, auto return to on switch. All saws should be this way. 3/8 full chisel chain as standard! The 12" bar I'll swap to the Makita to test that. I've put the 10" Echo bar and 3/8 full chisel on the Clone 2511 for testing tomorrow. 12" may be too long for this size saw I think, atleast for what I intend to use it. The clone also fired up first pull. Very easy start. Could have used the clone 2511 today, we were clearing two domestic leylandii hedge rows, and I dropped the 2511 twice from being balanced on a stub a few meters up. I didnt have a lanyard or harness on..
  10. That is worrying that it has come so far so soon. Twenty-odd years ago a friend, who was doing a PhD in Limpets, told me we were at the tail end of the fastest extinction known on record.
  11. Another thing we used to do for young tree maintenance was use two stakes , then take off one then on the final year take the last stake and cut it in half and stake it lower
  12. whats wrong, cant grow a beard?
  13. Aye I'm seeing that now, the same bunch who think the bloke who advised saville should be allowed to continue unchallenged, and has more or less ****************ed up everything he touched since walking through the door of #10 is going to fix the uk??? what a feckin' joke. good job were not all in the same room .

  18. In my experience once Kd is well-established and visible there is very limited scope for only 'monitoring' it. It can but doesn't always progress rapidly, but full aeration takes it from a selective rot mode to full-on loss of strength. So, usually some sort of intervention is recommended. The life of the tree can be increased by crown reduction to avoid basal failure, but as with all reduction you're removing part of the tree's energy source to fight off further decay, accelerating the overall demise. A lean makes management decisions even more difficult, as leaners can in theory fail under the self-weight tension at the base. In practice failure will usually be triggered by a wind event. And there's always the issue that as things get worse the tree gets less climbable and more expensive to remove. 'Monitor' is such a useless recommendation for any risk survey. A specific season and year for reinspection should be specified, and take it from there. As precise a record of current condition and extent of decay and fuiiting is essential for future comparison. Risk is only partly about the tree. Target is as important, either by reference to defensible thresholds set by H&SE or in discussion with the landowner. Rarely I have seen trees with Kd in positions where intervention was not merited. I've spotted Kd on a few and recommended reisnpection after an appropriate period. I've also come a cross a few failures lying on the ground. But I don't have a body of records on what happens from discovery right through to failure.
  19. Those Ifor Williams built in locks are only only good for securing trailer to ball hitch when is transit to kept it in place and not to prevent theft as very easy to overcome.

  21. fair play to him, I apologize for perhaps jumping the gun[see what I did there] I hadn't realized it was your son, or that it was a posed pic.
  22. Used it today, we like it a lot! 4Ah battery dismantled an ash, logged it up and stil lhad 1 bar. Quite a few decent sized cuts to test it out, perhaps 16" dia with the 10" bar. I meant to swap a normal 14" bar to try but didnt have time. The balance of it is good, and it doesnt seem to slow down even when battery is low.
