  1. Towing a ride on mower i hope he lives in flat lands or electric bike perhaps Almost beats a tandem towing a Canadian canoe 🛶 I spotted in Windsor it was a long vehicle

Having been off grid for ten days due to the gales the only thing I really missed was hot water if we swapped our old non boiler stove to another room and installed a boiler stove with an old school convection system linked to a hot water tank which would feed the existing one and a heat sink (?) radiator any good ? any idea what that would cost ? also I once stay in a remote stalking lodge which had been refurbished to a high standard they decide to minimise generator requirements so had gas lighting it was very Atmospheric also gas fridge
  5. How about a ceramic heat store type stove no electric required esp nice after 10 day power cut we have had i think there are some people building them on site or ready made ones available cornish stove company ? osier stove ? We have biomass on rhi wouldn’t have done it without rhi
  6. Our garage recommended lannoshield for Underbody protection of pickup he thinks it’s very good but must be put on to very clean surfaces any body heard of it or used it ? £120 for 5 litres. 👍👎

  8. Any idea how many chainsaw injuries per year ? perhaps a profile of injury types and users would be a good start for your thesis perhaps not engaging chain brake whilst moving about between cuts is a factor ??

I had a hand pump splitter worked but very slow as above get your splitting area sorted ‘table’ with high edges surrounding a knee high chopping block logs 🪵 don’t end up on ground possible use log tongs to pick any that bounce off cut and split logs when green i like my fiskars axe others have their favourite make join up with your neighbours and share cost of an electric or petrol splitter If you enjoy logging buy one yourself and spend a few weekends splitting for your neighbours to recoup cost

Hi my neighbour has a hazel archway framing a gate thru a wall its got too tall and too wide if we cut the tops off how will it regrow ? will doing that encourage new shootsfrom the base? could we cut tallest stems of at their base and try and untangle them ? probably should just cut it all down tothe ground and shape it as it regrows but a bit wary of that as it will be very bare for two three years also rabbits 🐇 damage to regrowth any tips thanks david
  12. I heard the fly can only reach a very low altitude 40mm or sometning tip was to grow them in an old water tank or similar tall container it worked got lovely carrots and no bending over double win
  13. 12 mm ambitious for shears light weight loppers probably last longer darlac make good shears nice to use cannot swear by longevity yet
  14. i put the ash thru complete as it doesnt get too twiggy at the tips not ideal but ok and much quicker
  15. years ago in commercial orchard they are great could lash one up from an old rucksack if you have one kicking around ?
  16. once you get your soil organic matter up in the veg patch no need to rotovate or dig just a light forking over does the trick or go the whole hog no till vegtable growing charles dowling google it very interesting
  17. hi i have a log boiler which in the summer just does hot water its paid for itself now so getting lazy and sometimes just flick on the oil boiler for a bath any one boost their tank in summer with solar ? if so is it solar electric then an imersion type heater or directly heating with solar hot water tubes ? any tips or expereinces welcome its a 2000 litre tank not wanting to spend too much as i would be spending to loose RHI money for an easy life less firewood gathering etc also rather boost the buffer as that would not involve any work in the house thanks david
  18. we have threee of these they would love the stilts for mud snow or even dewy mornings they are not really very hard
  19. My sister has one she lives near Ely cambridgeshire its big for a fruit tree lots of fruit they are tasty but have a short time between unripe and over ripe messy purple hands never seems to get pruned perhaps it could have been kept manageable if pruned from its youth ? good luck

  24. hi i would like to cover an area of about 2 meters by 5 meters with a block of conifer to about 1.5 / 2 meters high it would be kept trimmed and perhaps have a couple of steps in it just straight lines not trying to make a peacock an interesting shape and perhaps provide a little nesting cover for the birds any ideas nothing against leylandi if it would be suitable and how far apart to plant and of course i want it fully established and shaped asap if not yesterday ps in central northumberland quite high up thanks david

Hi doobin I would use it for moving logs lengths of wood on the deck type fitting pulling my branch logger and log splitter about pulling log arch on hard tracks and cross country Also to move stone for patch up our access track possibly horse poo removal and general,garden tasks wondering how good it is off road ? thanks
