  1. I use a KM94 multi-tool with extension and pole saw head. Great little thing ..and it is not 4-mix…
  2. I've just started using the Husky one…… So far , so good
  3. First stage completed. Southern end now clear of trees.Sunshine now warming the house. On arrival the house seemed to have moved nearer to the trees ! Mixed bag of work with climbing , topping , chogging , straight felling and rope assisted felling , etc , etc. Had to be careful not to hit the satellite dishes. Busy couple of days , did everything by myself (carefully), including the brash dragging , so well knackered ! Beautiful weather was a bonus… and I didn't damage the fence.
  4. Rather small compared to all your big jobs but this was my first attempt at doing a bit of a crown reduction on a Laurel. Took about 6' off and removed all the deadwood. Not big , but got me trying out my climbing gear and I just love climbing around in trees. Would like to have just removed a bit more from a couple of limbs but the owner said she was happy … so , what do you do ?!! It's all good practice
  5. Thanks for the ideas guys I will mull it over for a few days, before I go down there, and weigh up all the pro's and con's of what you have all said … Will decide best plan of action when I get there. Risk assessment etc etc … Thanks
  6. They aren't all coming down , about a dozen , at the moment. Stacking the brash is a good idea , I think I may go for that one !
  7. How do you make it road-tow legal ?
  8. I have been asked to drop a few trees for a friend in Wales. The trees are at the top of a bank. There is a farmers fence on t'other side at top. I was going to spike and chog each one , but was also considering dropping each tree down the slope albeit in a kind of angled across / rolling down the slope way. Potentially they could roll towards the building. Another way would be to take the fence rails out and fell towards the field but , as yet , we don't know who owns it… I am undecided , so turn to the people who have more knowledge than myself… All advice welcome… I am doing this job solo… ( carefully )
  9. If it is a stainless steel chimney on your extractor fan then there should be a plastic duct insert to deflect the flow of air through the side vents on the stainless steel chimney and hense back into the room. Then obviously use the re-circ filters.
  10. I have snapped the shear pin on my winch. I have one of the cheaper versions. Was pulling out some conifer stumps and there was two of us on the winch lever , so quite a lot of muscle ! I would rather the shear pin go , than the cable. Shear pins are easy to pick up off the internet ( pack of 10 ) !!
  11. £1176 was including VAT and delivery from Cumbria !
  12. Just bought one of these… Haven't received it yet ( next week ) but was a good price £1176.
  13. kitchen fitting 25 years
  14. Just starting climbing at 54 !
  15. Just bought a KM94 … Been using it with the one metre extension for the tall stuff. Not yet run-in yet but liking it. :thumb up: Picture from yesterdays job. Just used the old HS45 and hand-shears for the low stuff.
  16. For the little amount of climbing that I do , I use Cougar Blue. It seems good to me … Just ordered some Cougar Orange… Will see how it compares….
  17. …Anybody tried silicon spray ???
  18. ….and yet you can go out and buy "a dangerous piece of machinery " from B&Q and use it with no training ……
  19. Bit late replying I fly R/C gliders. Discus launch gliders…( F3K )… you'll have to look on youtube to see how we launch them Used to fly F3F gliders ( see Youtube ) Have flown power too , but prefer gliding
  20. I do believe one of the team felling it , was the same guy that did my CS39 assessment………
  21. I paid £34 for my fan……off flea-bay…. thought I would give the cheaper option a try…. Works great , now I have a warmer stern end on my boat …..
  22. Just bought some more……… This last year I hadn't spent as much as I normally would have done in Charity Shops……. so this will make up for it …especially now there is a Stihl 200T on the list of prizes
  23. I bought "The Tree Climbers Companion" about 6 months before doing my CS38 and because I had not done any climbing before , found it a great help. As has already been said , get a length of rope and practice …… you may be surprised how good you can become at making the knots/hitches. Good luck
  24. …I beg to differ
