  1. ….lucky chap ……. !!
  2. I wouldn't want to go less than my FS300
  3. I'll try and do a video !!
  4. This is what I use…. the 2 pieces in the middle are able to slide along the support beam , so that you can support long logs and short logs…….and also gnarly bits If the bit that I am cutting is an awkward shape then I make sure that my chain is at right-angles to the face edge nearest me….. if you get my drift ? ….. to prevent the log moving up out of the fork.
  5. Have had mine only 6 months…….. but it cuts verrrrry nicely. Had no issues with it at all. Full chisel on a 16".
  6. 231….251…….271….. How about a nice 261CM
  7. Mine arrived today. The first thing I noticed was the bar nose sprocket was quite difficult to turn. There appeared to be some burring around the nose area causing the sprocket to stick….. after cleaning it up , it was fine. Greased the nose sprocket , fuelled it up and filled up with chain oil. Starting was no problem…… although being used to a 261CM Stihl , I tend to forget about using choke ! It runs sweet as a nut. 25:1 mix. Had the usual chain stretch occur after a while , as expected. No problem. I used it to cut up some oak that I had sourced the previous day. No problem cutting through diameters using the full length of the bar. Plenty of cutting power, if you don't force it. As I don't climb (yet ) , I can't provide any details in that respect , but it handled very well. The one downside that niggled me , was the chain brake. i found that it was quite easy to keep knocking the handle and putting the brake on. But at least it works ! Good for £79.95
  8. Yeh , second that…… Years ago ( before mobile phones ) we used to have to plan a job , thinking about all the possible problems and outcomes and what materials/ tools were needed…..….we even used common sense…… Everyone is in so much of a rush to get stuff done these days…….. It all revolves around money …….. just earn less and live a bit more simply……and safely. ( oops , can of worms now open ! )
  9. peatff …….. I bought an electric chain sharpener from Lidl !! Does the job , although I still like to finish them off with a file. Have to watch for blueing.
  10. Sounds good Marc
  11. Straight up question: when you guys are out in the woods , or places with trees to perform the dark art on :-) …. When you sharpen your chains do you bother taking down all the teeth to the shortest one , or do you not bother? I know it reduces kickback , vibration etc if you do , but how many of you spend the time / or bother ? I'm asking because I have hit a couple of lovely little nails recently which has taken the edge of about 3 teeth. I am using a full chisel at the moment and that obviously needs a bit more care in sharpening correctly. Any thoughts ? ( clean ones ! )
  12. Take a look at some of the Hitachi routers……. I used to use a 1/2 " one that was great for worktop jointing………. yes , I was a kitchen fitter !
  13. I wear mine sometimes, even when I am not wielding a chainsaw. I find mine quite comfortable …… Oregon Waipoua type C
  14. Wait until they come up to the Ricoh , on the 15th FEB …………
  15. C'mon wasps !!!!!
  16. I only have a small Christmas Tree …. sits on top of my boat
  17. To keep my boat warm this winter it is either going to be diesel fumes or wood-burning fumes. Which is the worse !?
  18. …………anymore positive comments about the 261 CM and we could start our own club ! ………..has anyone had any bad issues with the CM version ?
  19. 261 CM ……. plenty of grunt . Had mine now for 5 months and absolutely love it :-)
  20. Stihl 261 CM …….. all the way :-)
  21. They all work on 2.4 GHz which changes it's frequency so many times a second. ….in effect trying to find a clear frequency (channel hopping). So jamming it might be difficult. I only know this because I fly radio control gliders on 2.4 GHz….. ! shotgun :-)
  22. ……I just unhitch the boat …… :-)
  23. …. "ANYTHING" !!
