We have a couple of horse chestnuts that , about 4 years ago , had about 3 foot of claylike soil dumped around them behind a retaining wall of sleepers. The tree bark is starting to break away in places and I’m not convinced they will survive….. would that be a correct assumption ? Or am I barking up the wrong tree 🤔

Anyone had any experience of growing shiitake mushrooms on hardwood logs other than oak ? I have 100 impregnated dowels to implant , but don’t have any oak trees to harvest any suitable 2-3’ long logs. Was wondering about trying field maple ?

Anyone have any job hindering hand injuries ? ( can see the jokes already forming 🙈) I’ve just been diagnosed with De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, which is preventing me from doing any climbing up tree jobs safely. Makes gripping things with the thumb sometimes quite painful.

I’ve got one too ! Electric start ….. brilliant bit of kit ….. i use it for small jobs. I can lift it into the back of my car !

Well…… Bought a canal boat to live on. Needed logs for wood burner. Bought a cheapo chainsaw. Was hooked ! Packed up doing Support Work ( with people with learning disabilities. ) Transitioned m/f (age51) and then did CS30/31/38/39 the following year…… Self employed , just doing small stuff . But utterly love working with trees ! Now 61……

If anyone has seen or bought this…… it’s nicked. I had it stolen over a year ago . I tracked it down to a guy selling it on EBay last Christmas Eve ! I even went round on the pretence of buying it ! Warwickshire police and West Midlands police have done nothing to help in its recovery. If you have it , or know who is using it ………. 🤔There aren’t that many of these about……

Just drop the tree into the canal .......there are plenty of boaters with chainsaws......and winter is approaching !

Disconnected the heater for ease of maintenance. One less thing to go wrong. Hot water is had from running the engine. Hot water stored in calorifier tank. My log burner keeps me warm enough.

I am living on a Narrowboat at the moment. I had my central heating disconnected and now only use my Aarrow wood burner . Works for me ......
