  2. Not too bad ….. I am quicker at getting people down than climbing up the tree !! ………. I have to use a foot ascender to help me up , my upper body strength is not great…..never been up a tree or used ropes until the start of the course…..

    Cs38

how did you get on ? got my cs38 in a couple of weeks…...
  5. Love my 261 CM …..
  6. For £32 a year BMFA insurance is well worth it …… when you consider the price of a quad-copter. i've been a member for nearly 40 years and have witnessed several accidents / incidents involving flying models…… some involving £1000's The general public will take you for every penny they can , given the chance... Better to be safe than sorry……..
  7. Can someone point me in the direction of anyone who is trusted to splice an eye in the end of my Cougar Blue ?? Thanks …. oh yeh , I am in Warwick
  8. Presumably you need insurance through the BMFA ????
  9. Some right good advice coming my way ……… thanks. As you say: " simple is best" , less to go wrong…… Aiming to try and get some "hanging around" practice soon. Cheers Guys
  10. Good observation ! I looked at the 3-way action ones in the climbing shop and decided that at the moment , for just practising , one of the cheap ones would do. I am not climbing yet , but when I do I will get the proper carabiners
  11. The swabish looks interesting , will have a go at trying that……….scotspine1 Is that a fisherman's knot you are using on the crab ? ……MaxwellArb ?
  12. OK……. just trying to get into this climbing lark…….. I am reading and re-reading "the tree climber's companion" and practising my knots , like a good girl :big grin: I am cool with a prusik loop but what about using a prusik that ends in a couple of tied-off ends instead , so that I could use a micro-pulley ? This is all new to me , but I may as well ask the question before I get shot down later !! The set up in the picture is just some old rope I had kicking around on the boat , as was the shackle.( the shackle is there as a pretend micro-pulley !) I bought the carabiner for later use ( hopefully). I use the leg of my table as a pretend tree !!! As it is set up in the picture on the tatty old rope , it all works surprisingly well !
  13. In for a penny…………. maria.freeman.794
  14. Could share mine ……… but then again….
  15. Hi Sean , just been reading your posts……. Not much I can say , except: " I shouldn't have been eating chocolate buttons when reading about your bowel exploits !! " Wishing you the best for your recovery and your future…… Maria
  16. Take chain off and go round the whole length of the chain and check each linkage for free movement . I had a chain that had one link that was nearly impossible to move…where the chain had been joined... because it was done too tight…….that was on a top-handled Protec…. with cheap chain.
  17. ok…… bit of an update on my tiny top-handled saw………. cleaned it up the other day and after I had put everything back together and tensioned the chain , I noticed that the chain was difficult to turn but only intermittently and the chain tension kept changing ??? Couldn't work out why , so I took the bar and side cover off and checked sprockets for movement etc….. all seemed fine… the bar was A-ok …….the clutch drum etc was A-ok ……So , that left the chain……. I went round all the links on the chain and discovered one link that was really difficult to move and this was making hard work of getting round the sprocket radii. I am presuming this was the final link where it was joined …… sigh , cheap chains !! Anyway , sorted it out and now she spins like a good'un ….. At the same time I removed the mass of wire from inside the muffler , which I thought may help it ? ( if not , it sounds better ) ….. I know it is never going to be anywhere near a pro 200/201 etc , but for small jobs , which is what I need it for , it is great ! I may well invest in an Oregon chain for it at a later date , but will see how this one lasts...
  18. Considering buying one or the other. Don't know which one to go for ? Any advice would be welcome , thanks.
  19. me too ……..
  20. 261-CM ……. love it ! It's like any saw……..look after it and it will look after you ……. ( now ducks behind sofa ) After watching a worker throwing ( literally ) his chainsaws around , a couple of weeks ago , I'm surprised anything would have survived long in his hands……..
