  1. Yep. More distance, but better roads Driven to Monza a couple of times :thumbup1:
  2. Italy is only a days drive from me
  3. Just ordered the new CS501sx from my local dealer, as it's a bigger version of the 390 which is superb and my go to saw.
  4. Walnut and Yew go well together
  5. Take your pick : Knife sharpeners
  6. Forest and Arb, on here, normally do the best web price, but for a few quid extra, why not support your local dealer?
  7. Tru-oil works very well on Yew
  8. If you get anything down in Kent Simon, you know how to get me Ian
  9. Take a trip to F.R. Jones, they're not far from you. They've got some Stihl homeowner Class A trousers on special if you call in (they have a sizing problem, so won't mail)
  10. Certainly some nice pieces, well done.
  11. 280WES, 352ES,360WES, 390ESX and 251 blower. All excellent. 5 off CS450ES for the guys, they leave Stihls on the shelf now they're run in. 9 saws, 2 years, downtime virtually nil (280WES oiler packed in after a week. Off to dealers and back in 24hrs) The guys killed two new Stihl 261's in 3 months, so all our replacements are now bearing the Echo brand.
  12. That's the second Dealer I've heard about that is dumping Stihl for another make for the same reason. the first is moving over to Echo! In the last two years, on 4 saws, I've only needed 1 spare part from Echo. My dealer ordered it 3pm and had it the next morning. Saw back in use inside 24hrs
  13. Got paulownia and Ulnus x Hollandica Steve.
  14. The 620sx is next on my list
  15. I've used a Record BS400 quite successfully in the past Steve.
  16. Ok, so I took a look at mine today. No sign of burning/melting. Taken today after about 5 months of regular use....
  17. No, no issues whatsoever. I'll check the chainbreak handle when I get to the yard today, but I've certainly never noticed a problem. Mine was one of the first batch in the country.
  18. I have indeed, as well as ES450 and give me the 390 any day! I use it exclusively with 1/4 chain and 16" and 20" bars, whilst we have 450's with 1/4 and .325 chains. The 390 is lighter, better balanced and easier starting (needs less effort to pull the cord than the 450, they both start easily) I use it mainly for blocking out carvings and deep boring jobs. One of my best ever buys
  19. Mine's coming up on 160K miles, 2000 reg and is only just starting to have a few niggles, but nothing that breaks the bank. At 40K it's only just run in! (and it regularly tows a TW190, mobile mill etc). Excellent little van. Only fault is it could do with being 6" longer load space for me, but for cleaning gear it will be fine. :)
  20. Nicely done. Now we just need 1/4" chain! Prices look good.
  21. None of my saws or bars on there either. Gauge, pitch and drivelink count are the only way I can buy as my collection is a mis-mash!
  22. Got two off 261's in April this year. Both now dead. Replaced with Echo 450's. No problems!
  23. Leylandii is my favourite wood for garden furniture as it is so durable in the open. Sand it and oil it and it won't cause problems with stickyness. Danish or decking oil.
  24. BTS in Birchington. About 20 miles
  25. All been said. Nice work Ian
