  1. This log was between 4 & 5 foot.
  2. Got a few short boards, but can't remember the thickness and won't be ready for a couple of weeks or so. I'll measure monday when I check them.
  3. I have two Echo's below the 360wes (280wes and 352 es) and both are great saws. The 280 has a 12" dime sugi carving bar and the 352 has an 14" Oregon Quarter carving bar running the standard chain. Find that I use the 352 for most things around the yard as it's light, powerful enough and really is ES (Easy Start)!
  4. That looks do-able
  5. You're right there Jon!
  6. I have a portable bandmill less than 20 miles away
  7. Have a look at the Echo 450
  8. Nice work :)
  9. Location, location, location
  10. Ours cost around £700 month
  11. I'm intending to build one in the next couple of months. Google throws up a number of links, as does youtube, but here's one.
  12. That echo's around here too! :thumbup1:
  13. 250mm, that's 10" in old money

I can confirm that it distorts. (Alaskan) milled a log towards the end of November last, and looked at it for the first time earlier today (Quite coincidentally). It was well stickered and weighted but every board has moved at least a bit, and the outer slabs have cupped quite badly Some nice grain though!
  15. As Simon says, get an Echo 310/Stihl 171 or equivalent. It will save you money in the long run. I've got an XXX saw somewhere in the scrap heap!
  16. If you have a large catchment area, I'm sure it can be done relatively sensibly by doing X area Monday, Y area Tuesday etc. but we are fortunate in that we can arrange deliveries to suit the client. The disadvantage of our location is the limited catchment area!
  17. I would think that is very much location dependent. We live on what was an Island until the rivers all silted up, so it creates a pretty natural boundary past which we charge. It's the same for most businesses locally.

Lidl doing a couple of nice little plug cutter sets at the moment. £4 set and go up to 16mm. OK for occasional use.
  19. My Echo dealer supplied me with an aftermarket one for around £7.

Nice job. Love to see it finished. What you going to use?
  21. They'll only do that if they catch up in sales and look for faster (cheaper??) ways of manufacturing them! SO, please STOP buying ECHO saws and coming along here writing great reviews of them!!!
  22. Tew is my favourite timber. Jealous!
  23. Don't tell CITES!
  24. Norfolkngood is the man for these. Shaun makes the tool you are on about.
