  1. I can assure you it's a beaver.
  2. This was taken locally 5 years ago!
  3. I've bought two Echo's in the last 12 months, and both have been excellent. (280 and 352) The only crit is the size of the filler holes, but the Oregon safety spouts do fit, just.
  4. That is just one of the reasons that I've just bought a bandsaw mill. (AAnd I'm in Kent! )
  5. It was newish when the pic was taken! That was about 6 months ago, and it's done some hard work since. As happy with it now as I was then. It should be remembered that a carving saw runs non-stop all the time you are carving, unlike other disciplines where they live in a stop/ start world. They also have to complete a mixture of ripping (harder on the saw) and crosscutting as well as everything in between. This little saw does it without flinching and gets put to the test most weekdays
  6. Fit a tracker. Won't stop them stealing it (although the above might help) but you'll know when it's being moved and will be able to find it once it has!
  7. Echo CS280WES Great little package and saves the hassle of changing sprocket for 1/4 chain. Bar comes from Rob anyway
  8. Certainly had mine in stock when forestandarb couldn't supply one! :-)
  9. I get all my bandsaw blades from Ian at Tuff Saws , but I don't have a bandsaw mill (yet). I think he only carries up to 1" width, but he's good to ask stuff, so you could try.
  10. It would be appreciated too
  11. Fiat Doblo for me. Excellent vans, decent mpg, reliable and just keep going.
  12. Sand it and put a 3rd, thinned coat on to finish.
  13. PM'd
  14. Echo give a 5 yr warranty for your kind of use. Echo CS-310ES Chainsaw
  15. Choose here FUEL/OIL COMBI CAN WITH OIL & FUEL SPOUTS FOR EFCO USERS DROP DOWN SELECT | eBay It's what I use and works fine with the red and green nozzles
  16. Quarter. It will give the best grain pattern and be the most stable
  17. Same. Regularly!
  18. Yes, but my problem is transport.
  19. No, but I have made instruments from exotic pieces of local timber and got more than firewood prices for them! :001_rolleyes:
  20. That fiddleback maple would go straight on my bandsaw and get sliced into 3/4 inch boards. Even now, having been split. Dry, it is still worth a tad more than firewood cos instrument makers don't actually need huge boards. Oak is not as valuable because it is no good as a tonewood. Could only be used in decorative furniture.
  21. Just seen this. Done
  22. Me too.
  23. I've just ploughed through all 26 pages with less than half a dozen Echo's pictured, so here's my small attempt at redressing the balance
  24. Tru oil is pretty good on walnut. Made for gunstocks, but I have used it on a number of different items with satisfying outcomes, it wears pretty well and is easy to touch up/re-finish.
