    Tiny echo!

3.2mm (1/8") round file. Stihl do a kit
  2. Holesaw and Arbortech turboshaft
  3. Had the 501sx for about 3 months now. Absolutely awesome saw for the weight. Got 6 Echo's now and not had a problem with any of them. My mate has another 6 and the same story.
  4. Well done Simon. I followed the progress throughout the week, and so pleased you won it. Congratulations
  5. 22". If I need wider, it's back to the Alaskan and a sore back! (Or book match a pair of boards, which is IMHO better )
  6. Echo CS281wes with 10 or 12" dime tip. Rob at Chainsaw bars, or Lee at Fairywings and Chainsaws will sort you out.
  7. I have a Timbery M100 bandsaw mill Si. A lot easier on the back than an Alaskan
  8. Just over £3k with the dreaded, and they do what they say on the tin. I've not used others, so cannot compare, but it beats a chainsaw mill hands down (or straight backed, which is important to me) I've had it a year now and it comes out occasionally, not as often as I would like, and keeps me supplied with boards, but I wouldn't want to use it for full time production work.
  9. What he said, + Cypress is one of the longer lasting timbers for carvings :)
  10. It'll take a few gallons through it to reach it's full potential. I run mine with a 20" bar and it flies through timber. (Oh yes, that could have something to do with the fact I'm running 1/4" 0.050 chain) ;)
  11. Lee is my Echo dealer and is excellent. He's shy, so here is how to contact him Fairy Wings and Chainsaws
  12. Here's a thought. I wonder if the Chinese make their saws out of shiny plastic BECAUSE the Echo's are shiny? ;)
  13. They aren't! We have a number of Echo's and over the last 2 1/2 years they've been subject to the usual misuse, dropped, left in toolbox while tipping, etc and not a single bit of plastic on them has broken. The shininess has worn off, but they're still intact. Same for the blowers. :)
  14. Got the 390 and the 501, both excellent, and I've had the 390 over a year now. Not a single problem. Can't really warrant a 620 for what I do, but have used one and would buy in a jiffy if needed. :)
  15. The answer is probably Yes, as we have 450's running 1/4 chain. Rob D will sort you out.
  16. Sprocket nosed bars are not really up to a lot of carving with the tip, especially with the narrower guages on a little 150. Get a solid nosed bar from RobD at sugihara, then run the chain SLIGHTLY slacker than you would on a sprocket nose. Too loose and it will slap and cause the same/similar problem. HIH
  17. I'll second Rob's comment. CS501SX. Powerful and lightweight, runs the bar size you want, and a great warranty
  18. Echo 501 sxEcho CS-501 Rear Handle Petrol Felling Chainsaw
  19. Of my 6 Echo's, it's my favourite saw. (Although my new 501 is nice too) Easy starting, economical and excellent power for a sub 40cc saw. Recommended
  20. Nicely different Si. I'd raise the eyes a tad as well, otherwise great :)
