  1. Difficult to answer this question responsibly as we’ve all done it. If you one hand the saw and the bar is in line with any part of your body, you are putting yourself in danger, especially on the top of the bar if the chain gets pinched in the cut. I’ve caught myself trying to snatch a falling branch with the saw in the other hand!! Not good...,!!!!! After time and with practice your judgement with step/holding cuts will get better allowing you to lower or clip up the saw between cutting and chucking. [emoji106]
  2. 346 definitely. We’ve got two that have outlasted everything.
  3. Cos they are petrified of the Palestinians.
  4. I had a 60 ft Connie fell go astray by about 50 degrees due to a strong gust of side wind, (thankfully except for a fence panel no damage or injury) Looking at the gob and hinge you would never have known. Lesson learned.
  5. In this ever did happen, there would have to be a no fly zone in place, who better to enforce it than Michael O’Leary.....
  6. I knew you would spot it. [emoji51]
  7. Light the green touch paper and retire to a safe distance.......
  8. Steep learning curve as well...
  9. Tragic shame. RIP.

  11. Unbelievable duet!
  12. That’s a shame.., he thinks the world of you!
  13. The Duellists. Apocalypse Now Layer Cake
  14. Depends who the “subject” is I guess..... Conservation work is great but.. how many arborists can earn money without starting a saw or chipper up? .
  15. I’ve just read that Barnier has accused Britain of abandoning the EU in its time of need, citing the increase of terrorism as a main threat. For me, and I’m sure many others, it’s the complete impotence, denial, lack of direction and unwillingness on the part of the EU to tackle terrorism and its causes that has been one of decisive reasons that the UK voted to leave. We weren’t even allowed to expel or deport known terrorists because of the EU and it’s unfit justice system. Sometimes it takes more than just “standing together with whoever happens to be the latest victim” to make real inroads into combating the threats. What a dipstick
  16. [quote post="1597192" timestamp="1511960764" name="Vespasian" why do you think the EU made us stump up first?.. not that they didn't have the whip hand to begin with, now they really have us over a barrel... which is exactly as it should be.. brexiteer numpties haven't got a clue... Are you for real? You really want Britain to be a vassal state of an unelected bureaucracy?
  17. So we should just roll over and hope that they will be magnanimous and tickle our belly? It won’t be the first time that Europeans have threatened us with a big stick.
  18. Walk away, trade on WTO terms. When the (petty, unreasonable and small minded) EU realise it’s in their interests to play ball they know where we live..... Simple
  19. Any Petzl stockist “should” change it to a mk 3 Zigzag for you. I haven’t heard of or seen any Mk 3’s cracking so far.
  20. It would be interesting (not pleasant but beneficial) to be able to look at these instances and analyse what was actually happening and what went wrong. 1. What part of the tree was being cut? , I.e removing a limb back to the stem. 2. What work positioning was being adopted? 3. How was the saw being used? 4. Was he/she using the pushing or pulling side of the bar? 5. How was the bar aligned in relation to his body or work position? 6. Was he cutting and holding? Etc. It’s all very well just saying “he was one handing the saw” but it doesn’t give the full picture. We all know there are times when one handing the saw is appropriate for the specific task. It would be good if the industry could learn from these tragedies in a way that provided practical training that actually worked out in real life/work scenarios rather than just saying “don’t one hand the saw” or “fit bar tip guards”
  21. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Really smooth rope work, especially when you took the top out. [emoji106]
  22. Would probably depend on how ugly and bad tempered the insurance company’s loss adjuster’s wife was on the day. [emoji51]
  23. Why not! Save yourself in your insurance payments as well,
  24. This thread is.... Again! [emoji849]
  25. We got one on special offer at Global for £1000 inc with a 30” bar and chain. They aren’t quick sellers so there are bargains to be had from time to time.
