  1. I thought about moving, but where? https://goo.gl/images/RcQsfQ Out of the reaches of a maniacal, egotistical billionaire. Oh hang on..
  2. Do you really not see that 8 years of Obama’s appeasement and hand wringing have allowed the current situation to develop? At some point you run out of road to keep kicking the can down. Someone has to end up facing it. We should be thankful at least that it’s not Hillary in the White House. Look what happened in Libya. Look at what the Clinton foundation did (or failed to do) in Haiti. Would you really prefer her? Or put it a different way..... if you had to buy a guard dog because you couldn’t trust your neighbours what kind of breed would you be looking at?
  3. Ah! It’s not the fact it’s a chainsaw it’s the very fact it’s a small petrol engine (with the risk of petrol vapours being released) that puts it on the banned list. According to regs there are special provisions but the airline said no and weren’t having any of it.
  4. Im not saying it’s not true. but which media outlet did you get that from? Do they quantify the economic and social benefits for society as a whole? They probably don’t because it doesn’t fit their narrative. Pesticides, agro-chemicals and global food programmes will destroy the planet long before mining and burning fossil fuel will, IMO.
  5. As much as I hate pollution and wrecking the environment, the mainstream media lost what little credibility they had with me when they blamed Trump for last year’s hurricanes. [emoji849] Fair play to him for reviving the coal industry, I grew up in South Wales when the pits were closed. The human cost of those closures and the breakdown of the local economies and communities was catastrophic. It was around the same time that the health authorities implemented the policy of flooding the place with methodone. South Wales has been decimated by drug addiction and the associated social issues ever since. Sadly, something I know a great deal about from personal experience. I think a far greater threat to the world comes from the big Ag- pharma conglomerates and the nasty stuff they get up to. For example.... where have all the bees, butterflies and flying insects gone? I don’t remember cleaning any off my windscreen last summer.
  6. The media paint Trump a certain way and the masses swallow it without thinking or questioning. (Maybe this belongs on the free will or lack of thread!)
  7. He’s shown himself capable of improving the economy and reducing unemployment. Many others have tried and failed. Obama’s only credentials seemed to be the colour of his skin, from what I can make out....
  8. What I find worrying/amusing is that people think that Obama was a good President.... All Trump is doing is trying to take care of the consequences of Obama’s foreign policies. You don’t have to look any further than North Korea and Iran to see his real legacy.
  9. Thanks guys.
  10. I did think of that but we already have all the saws we need over here. I tried to get Fedex to ship ours out to Spain but they wouldn’t touch them.
  11. Got a weeks tree work booked in Madrid in a couple of weeks. Tried absolutely everything to arrange taking our own saws over on the plane but there is no way. Even drained and purged of all fuel and oils, the airline is not having any of it. So it’s looking like we will have to hire the saws over there. These are best our people over there can find. (They are better than what we had last year!) Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of hiring saws in Spain? I know they are non existent in The South from when we went last year. Long shot I know. [emoji106]
  12. Classy shots of fabulous trees. You have a real gift for photography Sean. Thanks for taking the time to post them. [emoji106]
  13. Getting done on the inside by a Waberer’s truck too. Says it all!
  14. Utility boys on day rate of course.
  15. Apparently the closest estimate is north of Yemen. Havilah.
  16. It’s still costing people their livelihoods today. Just ask any college professor who holds an intelligent design viewpoint. (Not looking for an argument, just saying, like) [emoji33] Worth a watch if you have the time but a slight derail! (Apologies!)
  17. This is really getting the grey matter a workout. [emoji123]
  18. Bump. I can vouch for Kenny. Great guy to work with and pays a decent days wage for a fair days graft. Recommend [emoji106]
  19. Interestingly enough, acacia trees have lots of thorns on them which symbolise the curse (or the fall, when death, sickness and all things unpleasant entered into God’s creation) , as before things went “pear shaped” there weren’t any thorns, weeds, pests etc... On a lighter note... Imagine going up to a pre-fall Adam and asking him if he was “ok”? He wouldn’t understand the question as he wouldn’t know what not being ok was. All he would have known was God’s perfect peace and unbroken communion with his creator. But he would still have had free will. Also, imagine looking at a newly created Adam and trying to guess his age... you would probably look at him and quite reasonably estimate his age at being around 30 years old. (A fully formed man in his prime) In actual fact he may have only been minutes old! [emoji106]
  20. If God hadn’t put the tree in the garden as the one test of obedience, then surely Adam and Eve would just be organic robots? But then God must have foreseen it and already had a plan? Maybe he’s working on “stuff” that we aren’t privy to just yet. (Only if you believe the book, of course [emoji51]) I have often thought that taking psychedelics is very much like a modern kind of eating from that same “tree”. It certainly seems to produce the same results. Excellent thread and excellent posts, btw.
  21. You missed out the Resurrection! Without that there is no Christianity [emoji41]
  22. I’ll have a stab.............. just one word? Ok......,,, Jesus. Here’s my clumsy attempt at why... Anthropomorphic-ly speaking, he is the only way we, with our finite minds can come close to comprehending the character of an eternal, immutable and transcendent being so mind blowingly incomprehensible that he could “speak” (so to speak) the universe and everything in it, into existence. My own life journey and experience has strongly convinced me that God can be reached, through the person of Christ. (And, believe me, I was very difficult to convince because of all of the negative baggage that organised religion came with) People from all walks of life have been discovering this and finding out that it is possible to have a living, vibrant, life giving and life enriching relationship with the Creator of the universe for Centuries. The proof that this relationship is real and not just a fantasy has been the noticeable fruit of that relationship.... the character qualities that I had always been lacking in now began to manifest themselves in my life. Incredibly I was becoming more like Christ and the change was dramatic. If you knew me before I started to pursue a living faith you would be amazed as many people who know me are. (I am still very far from perfect and have a long, long way to go) These words sum it up. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." (Galatians 6)

    Sugar

My wife has been baking with this for years. Don’t feed it to a dog as it can kill them!
  24. Very well put, that’s about where I stand in regard to it. [emoji106]
