  1. Haha! Here’s the bit without the singing if anyone’s interested. Thanks for all of your kind comments. Without wanting to sound corny, you guys on Arbtalk have been a great community of friends. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05xh1ng [emoji106]
  2. We have a special offer at the moment... Have 2 trees felled..... Pay for both of them.
  3. Blowing a £30k inheritance in six weeks and being the only one left alive out of 5 of us. The other 4 died within 7 weeks of each other. I really had to hit rock bottom first. I’d lost everything and everyone.
  4. Thanks for watching fellas! Especially seeings as they put it on towards the end! Your ‘sacrifice’ was appreciated. Its not a programme I ever watch either. They didn’t put my before photo on either, which I was disappointed with. a bit gory for the BBC’s sanitised version of church. So here it is And is what God did . [emoji106] Thanks [emoji41]
  5. I see that “Bond villain” George Soros has taken steps to destabilise the government. Pedalling out the old forlorn hope and lie that Britain could lead and guide the EU from within. Er..... we tried that, it didn’t work that’s why a democratic majority voted to leave. Mind your own business George.
  6. This brings back memories. A precursor to modern metal.
  7. I would be wary of second hand “unwanted” pulleys. (LOLER, insurance etc..) Better off (saving up) buying something new that’s going to suit the work you are doing and something that will last and you can put your confidence in. This would get you started, takes up to 16mm rope and has a working load up to 1000kg http://www.skylandequipment.com/dmm-pinto-rig-pulley.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8pX0kP2d2QIVLrvtCh3QzAVLEAQYAyABEgK9iPD_BwE
  8. Sort it out and take steps to make sure it cant happen again. Be honest and make amends where possible.
  9. Early morning call out?
  10. We always bring a printed invoice with a tear off part at the bottom of the page that the customer signs to say that the work has been completed to their satisfaction. Very Important and legally binding. If they don’t have the cash or cheque there and then we will give a couple of days grace for them to pay over the phone with their card.
  11. Bona Traffic. Acrylic lacquer. Bit pricey just for that piece but I’ve seen it used on refurbed parquet flooring to good effect and it stays light. Very kid proof and comes in the three standard finishes. https://www.bona.com/en-GB/Professional/Products/Coatings/LacquersFinishes/BonaTraffic-HD/
  12. Or Rogue Traders or Jeremy Kyle! [emoji41]
  13. Great pics Paul. Big RAF base up there isn’t there? I was up in Motherwell a while back doing some tree work and some LOLER stuff. Nowhere near as picturesque as there though. I love Scotland. Climbing Ben Nevis years ago was a highlight.
  14. Haha!! They spent the whole day here filming and it will all get condensed down to 4mins. You might be able to make out my Arbtalk t-shirt.
  15. Here’s a link to the trailer for tomorrow’s “Tree of Life” episode at 5:00pm in BBC1 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05xgzzv [emoji106]
  16. That new little husky looks the business, I can’t wait to get my arthritic hands on one... looks like you’re having the time of your life, Paul. [emoji106]
  17. CS 40 aerial pruning is a good course to go on if you can afford it. It will get you started in how to do good reductions and thins. I found it very practical and it really helped the quality of my work. It’s three days long and is a continuous assessment through the course so there’s no pass or fail at the end of it. Hope it works well for you. [emoji106]
  18. Whereabouts are you Spud? We’ve still got some big lumps of storm blown oak at our place in Coventry. We’re nibbling away at it in between jobs. We’ve got an 880 with a 30” bar which won’t quite meet its cut at the thickest part. You’d be welcome. [emoji106]
  19. I know a guy that would like to mill it if it’s still there?
  20. I did hear Mark... castors on a ladder are never a good idea mate... [emoji856] Hope you’re healing up ok. [emoji106]
  21. Nice one fellas. Also on there will be the Bishop of Lincoln talking about the 800 year old charter of the forest. Among other things. [emoji106]
  22. Shameless Plug. BBC1 Songs of praise are doing a "Tree of Life" episode this coming Sunday. I was asked to share my story out of drug addiction and about my faith and how I got qualified as a tree surgeon/climber. The BBC spent the day with us filming an oak dismantle and fell and looking at the work of Betel UK where people who want help breaking free from addiction. Our bit will be about 4 mins long. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09s34vc
  23. It always amuses me when people refer to Arb arisings as “the rubbish”
  24. Like ball bearings on glass..
  25. Sorry, couldn’t resist....
