  1. You will have to charge more to cover the costs of employing him, holiday pay, ppe, employers contributions to tax and NI, employers liability insurance, pension. Depend on your business and whether it can stand it.
  2. Buy aspen direct, far easier.
  3. I think your right mate, 4k with vat. The one I looked at had a 880 power unit.
  4. I've heard of another one that did that. Hope you get it sorted.
  5. About 3 grand?
  6. Is it a tdci one?
  7. Renewable John on here would be worth a shout, he sells logs and ain't to far away.
  8. Conny bashing today, 21 of the buggers to kill, we did 8 today, all ringed up on site and chip staying, bit of a drag to the chipper though. The trees were 43 years old and 70ft tall. Felled the with the help of my trusty landy winch. Back tomorrow.
  9. Spot on. It's taken me a while to realise! My dad had a small business until he retired 8 years ago and he does my books every week and advises me on how to do things. The main point he has told me is keep overheads down and don't buy anything if you don't need it.
  10. I had a 660 but got rid of it and got a 395 xpg, glad I did, far better saw IMO, seems to have more grunt.
  11. HB20 Dean??
  12. Fair play Matt, there is a lot more to such things than can be said on here and everyone has there own opinions and experiences. All the best.
  13. Give me a shout if you are mate.
  14. Each to their own, I can't be bothered carrying on in this thread as I have other things to do but if agree and disagree with some of the points made.
  15. Yes, I also know lots of people who take drugs and don't fit into either category that is described, I also know them that do, I also know people who fit the descriptions that don't take drugs or drink. At the end of the day legal or illegal drugs should not be taken in the work place unless safe to so so, ie paracetamol or such like. What people do in their own time is up to them, if it affects thir work then its a problem and needs sorting. I knew a guy who was crap at work because he drive a taxi after work to make ends meet, he was burning the candle at both ends.
  16. Have you ever taken either? I ask because you have made a generalisation that is way out IMO.
  17. Ahh, I thought it was this weekend mate, I would be up for it but I all ready have plans.
  18. Are you not hungover John from yer night out with Paul and Chris??
  19. I have one that I got off Dean last month, its awesome, it's like a bigger grinder only small! Dean was a top guy to!
  20. If a regular customer called me late at night with a problem like this I would if I could go and sort it out, if it was something where it would require more work IE a limb off a tree and now the tree needs to come down I would add something into that cost to cover the call out, depending how long I had been out at night. But if the call out was for someone I didn't class as a customer then I would tell them on the phone before I went out that it is £100 for the call out and £50 per hour per man to deal with whatever needed doing.
  21. I have a customer who has 8" logs max, I had a look at the burner and it really is small, don't see the point of it being so small. But hey if they want 8" they can have 8 " but I do charge a bit more.
