  1. Be careful with it, the plastic piston stop that comes with a new clutch can break off in the pot, then you have to remove the exhaust and shake it out. I have used them successfully but have also had them break if heavy handed
  2. A meter of CLEAN starter cord down the park plug hole will block the piston if your stuck, poss not the best way but very effective as long as you dont lose the end
  3. Here is indeed a huge difference between a grind out and a back scratch
  4. @Adam1998 if you don’t get the help you need look at the local hire shop for a small chipper and a rubbish removal guy, it might not be ideal but when your backed up in a corner think outside the box. a advert on Facebook for free wood normally will see it gone as quick as you can cut it around here. We had someone evan take a palm trunk out of the chip heap once ?
  5. Talk to these guys, it’s seems to be no big drama when we spoke to them. SvTech - Pickups WWW.SVTECH.CO.UK Various uprates are available on 4x2 and 4x4 pickups to provide between 200-300kg more payload. In some cases a higher towing weight can also be achieved. Some of the models...
  6. 2k for that staircase? It would seem it isn’t only the arb industry that suffers with the race to the bottom ??
  7. Fix Often Repeatedly Shouting Tourettes
  8. What a bunch of ................................... I would be tempted to remove the smaller branches that will fall as it goes brittle, leave the trunk and larger scaffold limbs then paint what is left Bright pink and attach a sign to the top telling everyone that this tree was killed by local vandals at house number xxx and now they have to look at it until they pay to have it removed and replanted with a semi mature tree. it might not get you anywhere but it would give me some satisfaction .
  9. No from the east Anglian fens
  10. It’s hard to cut, hard on climbing kit and hands as the bark is rough, bloody heavy, hard to split, crap to dry with out splitting and twisting if milled. On top of that it’s an invasive weed that’s taking over down here ? It also Copices easy. If you hadn’t guessed I’m not a fan on them, the only good thing is they are generally solid enough to rig big lumps off here is some further reading about the horrible stuff. The holm oaks of Ventnor Downs WWW.NATIONALTRUST.ORG.UK Learn about the Holm Oaks at the National Trust's Ventnor Downs on the Isle of Wight.
  11. Once the lower branches are shaded out by the higher ones the leafs/needles are not longer productive so the tree shuts the branch down and it will die, eventually looking like Steve’s picture
  12. I couldn’t name them but you have some cracking pictures there, thanks for sharing.

A good felling hand cutter tends to make for a accurate climber, go for it.
  14. Evan if “the boss” is unprofessional he has still done the leg work to get the job and provided you with work. You curled one out on him, once found out I’m surprised you have any more work from him, or any one else he knows for that matter.
  15. Did you bounce it out?
  16. Fell while you have the paperwork if it is the result you want. Once the application goes in for the sycamores you could lose your chance.
  17. Not used the logsol but you can get ripples like that with an Alaskan cutting to fast/pushing to hard @Rough Hewn knows the logsol mills so probably more qualified to help
  18. Check the grove in he bar hasn’t opened out allowing the chain to “chatter” from side to side. Or it could be as simple as Uneven sharpening?
  19. Vistaprint are good, and easy to use.
  20. Gomataro on left lower leg here, I have my lanyard tail on left also. I leave my topper on which ever side is convenient, only having a carrytool one side would do my head in. Only once in 10 years (that I remember) have I damaged a lanyard with a saw hanging on the same side, Shirley that’s what the chain brake is for.
  21. My mk1 540 ripped the whole top handle off whilst starting it stood on spikes at less that 3 weeks old and husky refused to repair it under warranty. The handle came away with the carb still in it so you could look down into he pot! Needless to say I won’t be buying another. My early 201 has been in for the ignition/flywheel mod but other than that has only had service bits in 6 years, owes me nothing and will be replaced with another when it’s time comes
  22. That sounds like a skeleton having a wank in a biscuit tin! ? if It is only doing it cold it could be worth a compression test to rule out wear in the rings/valves.
  23. assuming you have checked there is nowt jamming the flywheel stopping it turning over?
  24. Yes, we get paid to do the tree work and clear the site, with oversize wood with no value locally beams can be quicker than rings to cut and get out, the chipper loads truck, the tip button empties it and we get paid! Its not often we don’t but on some jobs it works well. Also being on a small island there is minimal market for milled timber and haulage to the mainland is to expensive to be profitable/viable
  25. I’ve only used stihl up to 48” and 50 something with sugi. I don’t knock stihl bars, I still use some. I just find (time and time again) I get a lot more life out of sugi and gb bars per £ spent compared to stihl. I don’t treat them any different to each other. I don’t mill any where as much as you but work my gear hard in forestry, climbing, Hedgelaying and a small bit of milling if I need something or find a nice stick, but more often than not i mill beams so the whole tree fits through the chipper, you can extract more timber and easier from a garden in beams over rings!
