  2. ART RopeGuide with Link Pulley | Honey Brothers HONEYBROS.COM ART RopeGuide with Link Pulley from Honey Brothers. The largest equipment specialist in the tree care industry. He rope guide will grip to well over 99% of stems. A sling choked around the stem, carabiner and micro pulley will also do the job just not retrieveable from the floor
  3. We go direct to the guys at Preditor, we have delt with them since before they had a dealer network. charles was arb rep wasn’t he, apparently he moved back to South Africa but I’m not 100% on that.
  4. We have had no problems with predator machines or there service, we are on our second machine from them with no major issues, we had a small drive problem with our first one and there service was spot on. I can’t recommend them highly enough, I certainly won’t look at other grinders unless they seriously drop the ball. I can’t say the 28 I use rattles it’s self to bits, it’s been faultless. Im not saying other machines won’t be as good, but the predators are a decent machine with first class service, this is not to sniffed at, he best machine will give up at some point but good support, fast parts delivery/service makes the difference between a happy customer or one who tells the world it’s crap!
  5. Remove most of he dead (leave some for the insect life, that will in turn feed the birds etc) then reshape and thin, if you thin the tallest stems you will reduce the height at the same time. Also remove and wood that’s rubbing unless it’s been like it for years and starting to fuse together. Any cuts you make try to leave a small stub rather than flush to the stem as the tree can heal better. It has got a good few years in it yet, but I would poss think it is time to plant the next generation as it is in its latter years and won’t last indefinitely. any solid wood you remove will make good fire wood or the local wood turners always like fruit wood.
  6. No idea, very cool picture tho, thanks for sharing
  7. I think it’s a “Look at me” job
  8. We use the Stihl long reach battery one, it’s spot on, when the short one needs changing next it will be battery to match. They don’t quite keep up with petrol on thick stuff but on trimming you won’t beat it - no fumes, lower vibes, no ears needed, less weight which makes a huge difference on the top of wide hedges I could go on! I don’t believe in the environmental side of battery equipment as we are just moving the problem to the lithium mines in poorer countries and to the power stations but as a tool just wow what a difference in personal enjoyment and safety from lack of fumes and vibrations
  9. Shortsightedness seems to be at play here, in the longer term the rates will cost far more than you will gain in the short term, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, personally I would be keeping my head down.

    Jokes???

Reckon that would make your eyes water ?
  11. @Shaunpaul have you taken a airline to it fairly aggressively? I’ve seen filters like this get wrecked by being to hash with a blow gun?
  12. That makes a nice change to hear, many a life been saved by even the most basic set of saw trousers,
  13. Only seen one here on he island so far, less than normal ?, hopefully there just a bit later.
  14. I’ve always known them as hollow punches, @ Stubby has the use of them above, I also use them for making bolt holes in the rubber guards around the head of stump grinders.
  15. Plastic tanks suffer from far less condensation than steel, plastic out of the sun will last for years with no issues.
  16. We had a shogun with the pedders hd set up on, 1-1.5 inch lift but towed really well, as towbar height better and truck suspension stiffer
  17. Smart rig ? Pedders do a hd suspension set up for the shogun, makes them tow and ride much better.
  18. These guys are worth a look, I use one of these at aprox 7 yrs old with no issues and it’s done some work. 3200kg Wire Rope Puller x 20m - Aluminium Wire Rope Puller - Winches & Pulleys WWW.THERATCHETSHOP.COM <p>A wire rope puller is designed for various pulling and lifting applications. 19. My grandpa was a volunteer after being kept on the family farm, got sent to North Africa as far as I know, on the way to the front line victory in Europe happened and he was sent home! He only ever said “I got close enough to smell it and it stunk” my grandma has told me since he died he never forgave himself for not joining up when his best friend and his younger cousin joined up to look after them ( neither of them made it home)

    GB Bars

Only got a small one (14”), but it’s stood up to a winter of Hedgelaying, coppicing and ground tree work. As one of our front line saws it’s works almost every day but the bar has shown no wear, only been dressed once in months. There every bits as good Poss better than the sugi bars. I dont buy stihl bars anymore unless stuck, they don’t last in comparison.
  21. 30 inch, occasionally just to wide for a gate but 2 people will tip it to 45 deg and it will slip through with no bother. Don’t be put off by that what ever machine you get you will find a stump you can’t get to easy but there is nearly always a way the specs are here: https://www.predator-mfg.com/product-page/460
  22. 460 is a fantastic machine, we did a 8ft stump with our old one, only got rid to upgrade. Only had minor niggles in 3 years and they were sorted quickly with no agro.
  23. No worries, I grew up with DB tractors, give me a shout if I can help, but I have prob forgotten most of it
  24. From the outside looking in the guys at greenmech do a proper job of the customer service. Good effort in challenging times ???
  25. is it a white or red tractor? And has it got a big plastic control pannel on rhs of cab or look older/basic? There is a switch over valve between depth / height and external control which may be the problem with the lift IMPORTANT:to change it from depth to lift etc the lift lever needs to be all the way to lift so you can hear the pump working against the releif valve or you can break the selector! , if not it could be a stuck hold valve which is under the cab to the right hand side, once he cap is off a piece of dowl and a mallet usually frees them. if it’s a red only with the plastic dash there may be a combining lever for the hyd pumps ( some tractors but not all had twin pumps) if it has twin pumps you can combine the flow to power higher flow machines or separate them to have good lift and good external so you can lift machine and work hyd services to machine at same time on the field headland. If it’s in combined mode it cause strange things with the lift. story if I’m a bit vague is 15+ years since I worked with a 94 series! if you change the back end oil there is a pressure filter on the rear axle but the suction side also has a (washable) screen in the bottom of the gear box that often gets forgotten and can cause probs. this diagram/instructions may be slightly different to the controls you have depending on tractor year but the valve chest and setting should be the same: Selectamatic Hydraulic System DBTC.CO.UK A schematic diagram of the David Brown Selectamatic Hydraulic System. Also a guide to repairs and some other useful tips. The DBTC are indebted to Mr.... the David Brown tractor club forum (all 94 series tractors are David brown just some are painted in case colours as case took over) is very good for info but don’t expect any off topic talk or banter, stiff upper lip old boy! DBTC Forum - David Brown Tractor Forum DBTC.CO.UK I can’t remember the bonnet apart from if the springs/linkage go they are a bitch to change and as a 13 year old shutting yourself fingers in it breaks them ? he best places for parts are: Home | David Brown Parts Ltd WWW.DAVIDBROWNPARTS.COM Home page - Worldwide Parts for David Brown Tractors Untitled Page WWW.BARCLEYWILLIAMS.CO.UK Hope that’s some help, I may be able to help more with a pic of the controls to the rhs of the Seat. as to oil, engine is super universal tractor oil (15w30 or 40), for the back end some will tell you hi-tran (cases own oil) others will say same as the engine poss depends on year and gear box option fitted
