  1. not lighting woodburner recently , got plenty of dry wood , weather bloody wet and cool here and generally horrible !! went for my first dive of the year this week ( much later than usual ) not a pleasant experience but enjoyed scallops and crab ......
  2. lawsons ...for sure ..especially the way the trunk divides half way up , very distinctive for lawsons , as well as the foliage and general form ..

  7. I have a husky 357xp that will not run at the moment and after tackling basics , plug etc I have obtained a cheap carb to see if that will do the trick ...will fit and test tomorrow ...
  8. surely only in winter though !! and with the amount of rain in recent winters I doubt many particles get far from my house !!
  9. I am bewildered as to why Toyota are still promoting / advertising the hi lux if it is unable to supply them for ages !! not good for any one ..dealers , customers or company ...used ones prices are only high because new are unavailable !!...is it a brexit / covid issue ???
  10. the sand is very dry and will not be clinging to brushwood , and then only branches on the sand , the sand particles are much smaller than the gap between anvil and blade on chipper so should not really be as much an issue as working in muddy areas or gravel ...not ideal I know but not a big issue ....
  11. yes it is very fine sand , a horse menage ....not worried about blunting chipper though it is just the sheer volume of the stuff!!
  12. when I was a student at Merrist Wood ...85-86 we did a lot of practical sessions there ...lovely place !!
  13. it is quite common for builders ( on smallish jobs ) to get customer to set up account with the likes of Jewson and pay for it themselves or order online ....otherwise it will look like turnover is higher than the reality and saves getting stung by non paying customer !!!
  14. I often wrap a few turns of rope around to capture any splitting , choker chain works well if you have one to hand !
  15. it is not about time saving but greatly increasing carrying capacity .....still unjustifiably expensive though !!!
  16. TVI if you have changed the sprocket to make chain run faster then perhaps the extra centrifugal force at the tip / sprocket is causing more oil to be flung off reducing the amount in bar / chain at point of cutting ( just before the oiler ) and try mineral oil ...
  17. It depends whether your back problem is muscular pain or disc problems most likely causing sciatica ...different treatments for each !!
  18. also a hollow vessel in spalted Beech approx 300 mm tall ... posing on a mossy stump !

  21. I do not quite understand the theory of the "resin gumming up the chimney " resin burns well and I do not understand how it will get through the firebox and choke the chimney !! unless wet / damp wood is being burnt and the stove choked ...

  24. they are not always " well meaning " some use it as a method of obstruction or just to interfere with something they object too .....
