  1. If the saw showed signs of insufficient lubrication then I dont blame the dealer. There is no grounds to refuse warranty if oil other than genuine Stihl oil has been used unless the fault is a direct consequence of lubrication failure. The red Stihl Hp oil is mineral oil and the green HP Super oil is semi synthetic, we encourage all heavy users to use green oil. If the customer can demonstrate he uses Stihl oil in a Stihl product , then if there is a warranty arguement, it can only act in his favour
  2. The other things to remember are spares availability and residual value. We have a perfectly good used Echo for sale but no one interested. I think its cheap compared to the prices some of the used Stihl DIY saws make and a far better tool. When you have finished with your new saw, although the Stihl may cost the most, as a percentage it will still make the most as used
  3. Have you looked at the flat rate vat schemes where you pay a flat rate on your turnover? See if you would be better off. The vat deduction would count against your tax return
  4. I had a spinal for new knee, controlled pain very well as it wore off. Neighbour had a new knee with same surgeon 3 months later, knock out and loads of pain. With a spinal you can feel pain coming on and ask for control as pain gets worse. A general anaestetic has little pain releif. Surgeon reckoned the harder your bones are, the worse the pain
  5. I had virtually no pain after arthroscopy's and very few painkillers. There was little after total knee replacement thanks to the oxycontin (morphine cousin) but the nightmares coming off the morphine after leaving hospital were alarming.
  6. We found this problem early on with the 540XP, if the saw falls from a tree or gets crushed in the van, then this is the result, broken chain brake pivot point. In contrast if the same happens to the MS201TC-M then its £20 worth of bits and 45 mins labour as the top handle cops it first rather than the chain brake lever. We have sold a good few 201TC-M with no problems other than the air filter covers dropping off. Unhappily it appears that computer tuning is the way forward to comply with emission requirements and no doubt the Echo will soon have to follow suit.
  7. Barclays seem quite happy at the counter when I pay in a pile of cash to our private account, we only use this one for handling the rental incomes, and then transfer it afterwards to the company account. TSB seems to have a good deal at moment with 5% on balances up to £2000, we transferred my 19 year old son there from Santander
  8. Clearly doesnt want any messages sent via Ebay, Bet if you offered £2k delivered on a transfer he would accept........
  9. Looks like todays bargain offering, Timberwolf chipper at a bargain price, not Timberwolf 150DHB Woodchipper 2010 Good Condition One Owner From New 750 Hours | eBay
  10. We charge £28 plus vat per hour, regular trade customers are £24 plus vat plus parts , with some fixed price jobs, we are competitive compared to others around here. The golden rule is charge out at least 2.5 times per hour what you pay your employee
  11. You will need to use a MS200T diagram as its totally different to a MS201T in many respects. Replace the bone, brake band and flat spring
  12. We had a new Sprinter 316cdi panel van in 2012, the only way you can get them to tow 3.5 tons is to factory fit the towbar otherwise its 2.8 ton. At the same time we had a tacho and start assist fitted. Pulls like a train at 7 tonne GTW. They are brilliant vans , reliable , great to drive and surprisingly cheap on parts
  13. Stihl dealers have been encouraged to register all products for the last 4 years, also all products sent out from their HQ are traceable to the dealers they were supplied to. This can only help track stolen items. I would suggest etch your mobile number on the crankcase somewhere. Above all before anyone buys these machines, ask why are they being sold, where have they come from. If it doesn't tie up, don;t buy it, you may have it taken off you
  14. I think you will find that the link to many thefts is Harwich port. I dont think that much stolen kit ends up at auctions / Ebay/ Boot sales, its too obvious. The fact that most of it is never seen again suggests that it is shipped to Eastern Europe vis Harwich. Several dealers have been hit Colchester etc, all within easy reach of Harwich
  15. We have several Hayter Condors waiting to break, we sell a good used GX340 11hp model for £225 inc vat, inch parallel crankshaft. Generally these engines havent had a hard life, no concrete dust. Generator engines will have a tapered crank as mentioned. Dont know will 11hp be enough but physically the same size
  16. I would imagine if you told an employee not to come to work when they are contracted to work you are obliged to pay them. If you didn't an employment tribunal would be on the horizon. If the employee can get to the starting place of work then they have kept their side of bargain and are entitled to be paid
  17. Almost all Stihl screws are T27, there are the odd smaller T15
  18. You do have to feel a bit sorry for the dealer here if he sold it in good faith and had no idea the dual mass was on the way out. There is a reason why the car was £800 , about 5% of new price. It was a 10 year old car which is more liable to develop problems more than a newer one, its just a gamble really. We all want to buy a car as cheap as possible yet with this new consumer legislation, ( which applies to the sale of a used chainsaw by a tree surgeon as he is a trader ) unless the dealer has built in a safety net in the price, he cannot afford to sell a cheap used car, either scrap it or send it to auction.
  19. This stinks Firstly, if saw was damaged on delivery, did he sign as such, check POD Then he is using feedback extortion in that he is threatening neg feedback, big no no He must return saw using Ebay returns proceedure so I would ring Ebay, explain situation and send then a scan of POD showing no damage, they should refund you and bearing in mind his feedback threat, remove that if left. He cannot repair saw unless you agree In future sell the saw on a classified , use paypal if you must , but there is no commission and you have to speak to buyer, get a chance to sound them out
  20. Its an air leak, confirm with a vacumn test and start with crank seals, but do remove exhaust and inspect for scored piston. Worth doing if it is scored especially as Stihl have just revised many of their piston / barrel assemblies downwards in price
  21. I am a big fan of Easyjet never done Ryanair but Easy looks far superior. Weigh before you get to airport and add 3kg for £9 online or else buy a bag of chocs at Duty Free and fill bag with surplus , budget airlines allow a duty free bag in addition to hand luggage
  22. I would say genuine product, he has grey imported it from Slovakia. Not cheap really as a brand new MS362 CM 18 inch with 20% off would be £700 inc vat. He is also trying to sell a MS170 at £199, £20 more than UK rrp, perhaps needs to look at his business model again
  23. Out of interest are Petrol stations exempt as they have a trading area in excess of 3000sq feet?
  24. Okay so being the old romantic and having watched the rugby in Cardiff yesterday, I decided the get my wife some flowers for Valentines day after leaving the hotel in Cardiff. First stop Aldi, only the best would do, pulled into car park at 9.30am, did a couple of calls until they opened at 10.00. Got out of car at exactly 10.00 and walked to door to be told by young assistant they didn't open until 10.30, my local store opens at 10.00. I was told if I was going to wait then be careful that I was allowed 90 mins parking after that it was a "fine", remember I arrived at 9.30 Next move across road to Asda who were open, parked, walked in at 10.05, selected a dozen red roses and went to check out. Waited with 7 other potential purchasers at unmanned checkouts to be told by a passing manager that although they were open, you couldn't buy anything until 10.30. I asked her what was the purpose of opening , she just shrugged her shoulders, told me it was the Sunday trading laws and took the roses off me Back in car down the road 5 miles to Lidl at Barry, who opened at 10.00, walked in, as they opened earlier than the others, they only had 1 bunch of roses left, which I grabbed. Finally went to Bridgend outlet where there are some 70 stores that open at various times between 10 and 11 on Sundays with some opening at 10.30 but no purchases until 11.00 Surely these Sunday trading laws are hindering customers and shops and need to be reconsidered. After all we can order and pay online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
