  1. Carb problem, adjust or clean, make sure fuel is fresh as well
  2. Looks like one to avoid, plenty out there , buy another
  3. Possibly a scored cylinder or ignition coil problem. try using easy start when hot, if it still fails to start then its a coil
  4. Sure its not a worn clutch bearing and its rubbing against brake band or even play in engine main bearing? I assume you are fitting a spur sprocket. We fit loads of genuine Stihl spur sprockets and no problems
  5. Great vans, very reliable , cheap for spare parts, genuine set of pads for front £38. We had one totalled 3 years ago, he hit a telegraph pole at 50 mph trying to avoid a driver that had had a drink on his side of road, it took 2 hours to cut driver out. Police told him your lucky it was a Sprinter, you would have not survived in anything else. Our youngest 3.5 ton tows 3.5 tons legally, ie 7 ton GTW I dont know of any other panel van that does that. Wouldnt consider anything else.
  6. We have just renewed our 6 vehicle fleet policy with Zurich via a local broker. 3 year old Sprinter, 3 year old Vito, 2 x 14 year old Sprinters, 1 x 10 year old Discovery and my 18 year old sons 5 year Hyuandai i20 plus trailers when attached. Total cost £3770 but this allowed any driver of any age to drive any vehicle with a £250 excess. Considering the Hyuandai would be £1600 on its own to the private insurer for an 18 year old son, I didnt think this was a bad deal
  7. A couple of years ago we had a spate of mainly Stihl chainsaws brought in with scored pistons. They all came from the same area served by the same petrol station. It transpired that the garage sold a common brand of motor cycle oil , could have been Carlube, but certainly similar that the chainsaw owner was buying and using at 50:1. This is a mineral 2 stroke oil and the only mineral 2 stroke oil that I know is safe to use at 50:1 is Stihl HP or red, as far as I am aware oil other mineral brands need using at 25:1 The garage changed over to selling Oregon 2T oil and the saw problems stopped Oil badged as synthetic or semi synthetic is generally for use at 50:1 , anything not labelled synthetic is usually mineral and hence requires double that amount of oil for a given mix quantity
  8. Exactly right, I think the change was 2007 for the FS55, 4 coil options and 2013 for KM56 2 coil options. The ignition coil needs to be compatable with the flywheel
  9. Its either got a partial fuel blockage or its got an air leak, start by removing the side of the carb with the big cross head screw and cleaning the gauze underneath, then its a full fuel system clean and finally a vacumn test to check the crankcase for leaks
  10. Best all round job is a pedestrian rough cut mower, ie Scag. I might have 1 or 10 for sale
  11. All trucks over 3.5 tons now require a Driver CPC if you carry anything other than tools of the trade, hence the price drop
  12. Most high value saws we sell on Ebay are on a classified advert. Seller deals with buyer directly, no Paypal, we can speak to customer and ensure he knows what he is doing with saw and will be safe. Fixed price to list for 28 days. We then take a card payment subject to normal security check. Any problems seller rings us, simples
  13. I would say that Paypal / Ebay have your money not the buyer. Its up to the buyer to return the goods and prove that, but that is open to abuse. You may have to wait for the case to time out, possibly 28 days, or the goods to be returned before case is resolved or you get your money back. Just ensure the goods are returned exactly as they left you DO NOT TAKE PAYPAL UNLESS ITEM IS SENT BY TRACKED CARRIER
  14. In rural West Wales we have characters who , although I havent ever met Jon, must be very much like him. They are unique chaps with their own unique way who are willing to help anyone and a unique outlook on life which brightens a dull day. Salt of the earth characters. Jon sounds to be exactly that sort of man and I would say if you want a smile read his posts, if you dont like what he says, avoid them and read someone else's. PS his spelling is probably the best bit
  15. I have a MF35 3 cylinder and that ran a Arbereater 6 inch no problem, it had been used on a John Deere 855 compact, about T20 power, and that managed it
  16. When Mrs Brown retires, there could be an opening here for you
  17. We usually have some lovely used 346xp silver side within his budget. They have done very little and have many years of life left
  18. Carb for a MS260 is over £100 plus vat retail so yes a very good deal
  19. We have had a problem with one of these where it has been dropped and broken off chain brake handle mounting point, this means a new engine case and a lot of work. If it had been a 201T then it would be a fairly simple job to replace top handle.
  20. I knew in the back of my mind there was a mod like this but didnt realise it came as a kit. Stihl have them in stock at £66 plus vat retail, have ordered one to try on a flatish 201
  21. Point taken, but listing still offers shipping to UK, damn scammers are getting lazy indeed
  22. Correct me if I am wrong but is St Helens the only part of UK whose currency is in Dollars
  23. In all fairness, Ebay need to get a grip on these antics. They are very quick to punish the honest seller for a minor advert mistake but in our equipment field there are probably hundreds of scam adverts each day, all of which Ebay are probably earning out of. If it hasnt done so already people will not be confident to bid or use the site. A good customer experience is a big thing with Ebay and this sort of advert is not the way they will get it
  24. If either are genuine then its Droitwich as London is offering free delivery, ie you pay before you dont see it. Sad the more genuine of the 2 is making less money! Cant work out why they are 2 different years though
