  1. Lets hope he did better than this gentleman [ame] [/ame]
  2. I met Rod Stewart (well a look alike anyway on a stag do) in Tesco Express Cardiff the other night, he was 20p short at the till so I help him out. To my mind anyone who spends the evening in gold trousers that tight deserves my 20p, conman or not!
  3. We have had one returned, exactly same issue, its a weak point. At least when a MS201T drops its £18 worth of bits and 30 mins not £150 and a total rebuild
  4. Easiest way round it is to change pole to the Kombi type, the engine and cutter gearbox is the same, then you can add an extension. Send me a PM, we may have some used bits
  5. So how does it work if you pull up with a large Scag mower on your trailer and fill that directly out of the petrol pump with 25 litres?
  6. It is marketed as a professional machine and appeared at a time when the pro KM 90R was deleted. Sold a few and no problems to far. Having said that , if valves are correct on 4mix, they havent given us any real problems, they are certainly critical on valve adjustment
  7. Farmers have always been ones to moan at a hard life but I think they are now justified to be fed up. I was discussing this with my farmer neighbour today , one of the most progressive farmers in the area. He has a mixed farm about 600 acres with milk, beef, and cereals . He was expecting a milk cheque this month a little over half what it was this time last year, his wheat is 40% down in price and he cannot interest anyone in his straw, normally £60-70 per ton. In this area, farmers are one of the biggest employers and nearly all are very good at what they do. 3 years ago milk was £1.69 for 4 pints in supermarkets and we all bought it and didnt complain, now its under a £1 in many places. We all like cheap bread , milk and meat on the supermarket shelves but it has to come at a price and I doubt the Tesco's of this world are loosing out. The supermarkets need set a minimum price for milk and stick to it perhaps 40p pint and ensure the farmer gets 50% of that. Otherwise a way of life will vanish forever and the countryside will become an abandoned mess.
  8. From memory, the sprocket at fault is only used on a MS261, the MS260 has a different part number
  9. As per many threads on here the bearing problem on a MS261 relates to a slightly oval hole on the MS261 rim sprocket. This causes premature bearing failure and if the user doesnt stop in time and continues cutting, the crank gets scored and needs to be changed. It is not known how many sprockets had this problem but the spur sprockets dont have the same issue so all new MS261 saws we supply are changed before they leave, end of problem. If a spur sprocket is retrofitted the you must check crank for scores before fitting a new bearing and spur sprocket otherwise that will fail. The same bearing is used on other saws and works fine.
  10. 7.5, 10 or 12 ton lorries are all physically the same size , they are only different by the axles and springs. Unladen weight difference is minimal. All require the same operators licence, maintenance and if your driver is under 35 an additional licence. If your going to need a crane then go for a 12 or 13 ton, it will go anywhere a 7.5 ton will, Daf are usually a good bet and used ones from a council or utility company possible where they will have been well cared for
  11. We have dealt with them for many years, really good support, great people to deal with, excellent quality but fairly hard sell if competing with better known brands
  12. 2 stroke hover mowers havent been made for about 12 years, they dont comply with emission regs. Domestic ones had L470 Tecumseh engines, awful when they play up, they went bust about 10 years ago, hardly any spares. Pro ones had a JLO, Tecumseh TV840 XL engine , both obsolete , and best of all a Suzuki MX120 engine, really good bit of kit. We sold a mint Suzuki one last week for £250, ridiculous price , but could have sold it several times as if your bank is over 30', then its the only thing that will do it. 4 stroke Honda models only work up to 30'
  13. You may get a Pallet delivered to central UK for £40 -£45 but price is certainly dependant on area. £100 plus vat per pallet West Wales to northern Scotland We are with Palletline, they are very good but have recently raised prices in London area to cover increasing costs
  14. Most councils and contractors are now on FS460's. Very few if any round here use Husky. Only thing to remember with a 460 is dont have too much cord out, it confuses the M tronic, so dont take guard off. We usually find a Stihl will make a £100 premium when sold as used compared to a Husky
  15. We have sold a good many MS261's and as far as I know there is only one issue in that some of the rim sprockets have a slightly oval hole where the clutch bearing sits in and causes the bearing to fail and if not spotted in time the crank will score and needs to be changed. As it is impossible to tell which sprockets are defective, its simply a case of fit a spur sprocket instead. Do not fit another rim to repair and we change to spur sprockets before the saws are handed out when new. I havent had any other problems with this saw other than that and they appear far more durable than a Husky 550 .If the OP cannot find his receipt then if he has bought it from a registered Stihl dealer, the saw should be registered to him on Stihls data base
  16. Most of our commercial customers use 2.7mm Stihl red square line for cutting bridlepaths etc appears to be best size for durability and clean cutting , mainly used on an FS460
  17. These will be the best option in terms of quality if you want to buy a chinese saw
  18. I have got a couple of Kubota twin cylinder diesel water cooled complete with rads and pulley drive for belts GWO . PM if interested. £400 plus vat each
  19. Its exactly the same on FS450 as the smaller strimmers. Put a no 1 pozi screwdriver in hole, apply gentle pressure, turn until it locks and and screw head off. This assumes the head has been fitted with correct washer underneath. Pin goes in from top
  20. Without mentioning names, Mitox and Cobra are both "own brands" for 2 of the major garden machinery distributors in the UK and both will have spares readily available. They will have come from China built to the importers specification so will be a better bet than most other chinese saws but at a higher price as there will be a proper warranty and spares back up, all this costs
  21. Try to start on carb clean, if it doesnt , check the flywheel key is not broken. That would knock timing out and so not start whilst still giving a spark
  22. I think a private individual might just try that but not a company
  23. Check them out on Companycheck.co.uk as to whether they are good for the money, then proceed, if they dont pay then the Bailliffs can visit and if need be enter to recover goods Whoever you use to recover debt, they can only enforce it by a court judgement so you just as well do the donkey work online yourself
  24. do it yourself assuming you have a cast iron claim and the debtor has the funds using online small claims. Takes 10 mins once registered and is especially effective against other business's . Pay on a card roughly 10 % of debt cost which is added to claim. The courts have far greater powers against a business premises. Key point is start your case and as soon as 14 days from service has been reached, request judgement. Many years ago I had a £500 dispute against one of Europes biggest holiday companies.. As they were in the wrong and it would have cost them more than £500 to defend it, they paid.
  25. We have 4 mercs, wouldnt buy anything else. We have sold some transits in past, vast difference in build quality and sound of engine. Merc parts very reasonable and reliability brilliant. From what I have been told try and buy a later new shape as early new shape Sprinters had electrical gremlins. We have 2 old ones and 2 new ones so either 2-3 or 14 years old. Clutches and starters are poor on transits especially if towing. I think you are looking at a MWB sprinter to compare with LWB transit
