  1. I had first arthroscopy on right knee Sept 2007, okay for a bit , then a microfracture 2009, didnt really do any good and a double arthroscopy Christmas 2011. When they did the job, they gave a lubricant injection into joint at same time, this gives immediate relief but as the joint becomes more worn, it gives relief for less time I had a total right knee replacement Jan 2013, done by the Visionaire method, see Google / Youtube for details but basically uses custom made cutting blocks to get bone cut angles exact and fitted a black coloured hard wearing knee joint What I would say is a general anaesthetic for the arthroscopy so you can do it on a day job and a spinal for the replacement, you can have as much sedative as you want and dont have to see anything but I watched after sawing was over. My neighbour had a GA for his new knee and had a lot of pain afterwards where as I could feel the spinal start to wear off so could ask for more pain releif and kept it under control 3 years down road knee is 95% good but wouldn't have been still working if I hadn't had it done. Was back to work at desk after a week and near normal with light lifting after 5 weeks
  2. Welcome back Mr Peterson
  3. That's just it, most of us around 50 remember his voice on the radio and latterly TV from primary school schools days. Terry belongs to a very select group of mankind, those who no one can find a bad word to say about them. A unique talent, RIP
  4. We pay about £4.50 each plus vat from local motor factor
  5. We have had this in past when biodegradable chain oil has been used, if this is the case was clutch , bearing and sprocket with petrol and re assemble
  6. From memory I was told once that it is usually the trigger unit that fails and not the main coil
  7. We have a James one, give a dirty carb about 10 mins and use a half boiled kettle and some truck wash, does a fine job and cost around £100 from Central Spares
  8. On any self propelled walk behind 19-22 inch mower that is commercially used, there are drive issues but the Viking is easy to fix and parts are cheap and readily available
  9. Respond to whoever sent the summons telling them how much you need to attend, after all, its them who have asked you to attend. Explain what your daily rate is , allow 50 p per mile for travelling allow for parking costs and sensible meal costs, deduct what they have already given you and tell them to agree to your costs and you await there response. If you were not in court you would be out with a saw somewhere, its all down to reasonable defence / prosecution costs
  10. Seems unusual that your supplier is nearly £150 cheaper than most online sellers
  11. Seems a waste of good firewood to me, but I understand the logic, thanks for explanation
  12. The same as this one? Efco MT-132S Professional Pruning Chainsaw (30 cm Guide Bar)
  13. I would doubt you could buy an Efco top handle for £200, they seem to run around the £350 A Mitox or other Chinese produced saw would be sub £200
  14. I travelled from Cardiff to Newport on the train yesterday and saw several gangs at work trimming back lineside trees on flat ground using chainsaws and tracked chippers. On the areas they had finished, there were regular piles of 3 foot lengths of 6-8 inch timber, about 12 lengths in a stack and were banded using pallet banding. These stacks have been there for a good few weeks. What happens to these stacks, are they loaded by grab once the total job is complete ? It seems a lot of work to cut them so short and band them. Would the contractor then dispose of the wood as he saw fit? Once we had gone through the tunnel, and were heading for Bristol, I saw other areas that had been cut back some years ago and the firewood sized wood appears to have been just left there Do I assume that each job specifies a different way to leave the larger diameter wood
  15. He may not even live there , just wanted revenge on his neighbour!!
  16. I sometimes wonder is it worth selling anything bar the very best machines as complete, job lots of bits always make good money
  17. Have you checked bearing around the clutch drum, especially if you have a whirring noise
  18. Pike is correct. As far as I am aware most garden machinery suppliers want to maintain their network of servicing dealers and so try to create a dealer pricing structure that allows the biggest and smallest dealers to buy at same costs. This prevents a lot of un needed returns of machines and promotes user satisfaction giving a local outlet where they can call into for help and repairs. You need to remember that these machinery suppliers serve not only the pro user but also the domestic customer who, when he buys a new chainsaw may have little or no knowledge on how to use it safely. We certainly ask basic safety questions of the user whenever possible when he buys. The "big mail order boys" are almost certainly buying at the same price as the small 3/4 employee outlet, yet choose to go down the road of minimal profit, large turnover. I hardly see working for near nothing as preventing "rip off Britain". In the same vein, certain smaller dealers may well try and sell at RRP, this will never work as there will be a massive difference between them and the dealer in the country offering the most discount. As I said before the way forward is sensible discount on new product, good back up and item in stock.
  19. As far as I see it, there are 3 ways to succeed in business, 1. Give a competitive price , not the cheapest in the country 2. Give a good back up service with product knowledge 3. Keep item in stock, ready to go I would be interested to know who thinks which point is the most important or what else should be considered and on price what percentage greater than UK cheapest is okay to justify buying locally
  20. We have normally heard by now of any price rises, pound is strong still against Euro and oil price low so may be alright this year
  21. Our policy here on repairs is 1. Machines under warranty bought from us are done straight away, above all other jobs, whether bought online or from shop. If need be we will "borrow" a part off another machine to get saw up and running. If a loan saw is needed , so be it 2. Machines bought from us in recent times are next in the order 3. Everything else. We support those who support us, simple as that. My local insurance broker buys all his kit off us and I spend £15k a year on insurance with him, same with the local travel agent, thats the way it works, almost back to the good old days of bartering.
  22. Spot on, pay a fair price and get proper service and good back up. If you are obliged to collect the saw, the extra "internet discount" can soon be swallowed up in travelling and time wasted. How would the average tree surgeon feel if he lost a job to a rival company based 100 miles away for £20??? I can imagine his comments on finding out
  23. We have a job lot of these chassis and other bits currently listed on Ebay, that would sort your problem but you have to buy the lot
  24. I wouldnt thought it was same one for a minute, there are too many identifying marks on the pictured one which any dodgy seller would have cleaned off. It always tickles me the way some sellers present the adverts
