  1. 036 was doing my head in as it was running out of fuel but still had half a tank left because of the perished pipe. It would fire and start then stop again as if it was flooding as well. It seems alright now. Good luck with your problems.
  2. Galv flu is a big internet scare it gives you a chill for a day, I gas welded a lot of galvanised ducting when I worked in foundries and never got any symptoms. The shed is 80 feet square according to OP with vented eaves so lots of natural ventilation.
  3. If you put a fan bringing air into the workshop the pressure will force any fumes out. This is the method used for paint spray bays. Is the workshop 20 meters wide and the tractor in the middle ? The fumes would find their way out through a sealed pipe system such as a piece of flexy linked to say the scaffold pipe suggested earlier just knock a hole in the wall or take it to a window or door.
  4. Americans always seem to stick the biggest bar option on any saw, probably saves bending down when snedding or something.
  5. Fitted a new fuel pipe from tesgol to my 036 today. It's tight, the old one was perished and leaking at the carb and where it goes into the tank.
  6. Weeds ? Looks like Fat Hen gone to seed.
  7. Never mind all this climbing trees malarkey , they look big enough to clean chimneys to me, all that fresh air and daylight isn't good for kids
  8. Stick a long flexible pipe on it and run it outside, cheaper than fitting extraction and more effective as well.
  9. Is it really bracing or just so he doesn't have to get the ladder out to get up and spy on the neighbour sunbathing ?
  10. Better to use some good quality mastic I reckon, bit more pliant.
  11. If you trap the chain with the revs on it soon warms up as it's metal to metal, get it flat out before you touch it to the wood and keep it flat out till it goes through. A bit of bluing won't hurt it.
  12. I got one of the £70 top handles a few years ago for a one off job at home and it's had a few outings now. I run it on Aspen instead of the recommended 25:1 mix and it's had a carb kit but it starts and runs after standing for months at a time. It does cut out on the over run sometimes but it's a doddle to start even up a tree. I'd like something with a bit more power but at the price I paid for this I can't complain about it.
  13. I don't know the answer to your question on tickets but someone will be along in a while to explain that if you are subbing to a company full time then you are employed by them.
  14. I ordered some 5/32 files on Wednesday afternoon and they were with me Thursday morning, I'm happy
  15. That's where I left my rucksack ! Check if the shopping's still in it will you ?
  16. If you're not in a hurry order one from China for £2 and see if it fits.
  17. Can't you just use a Zama C1Q kit off ebay ?
  18. My friend came up today with his David Brown and rear mounted splitter. We split two of my little trailer loads in an hour and nearly filled the wood store so I can leave looking for a splitter for a while. I'm looking for a tractor now instead
  19. Can you get a strop round and winch them out?
  20. I remember the adverts on telly where the woman used to say "I'd love a Babycham" Here's a later one
  21. My thinking was to count the number of sleepers if they are regularly spaced.
  22. Not familiar with electric saws but motors lose power because of brushes or capacitors in my experience unless they have gone smelly and let all the magic smoke out then they are shot Diagram for the motor here and the parts are listed. The smoke is not available though.
  23. That's what I am finding. We are getting arb "arisings" and a lot of it is knotty gnarly stuff I end up cutting down the grain with the saw. I'd like to take a piece of wood to split as a demonstration before buying my next splitter, all the videos show old soft looking stuff being split. Thanks for the pointers I'm dithering now as the Portek looks like a better option than the whining from the hydraulic splitter plus how slow it moves.
  24. Wife and I have been to this for the last 4 years and enjoyed every one of them. As above it's more for the family not really a trade thing. Wood turners showing and selling their wares and The Council tree team and Rangers showing what they do. I watched the climbers and some milling being done and you can sample some bush food in the bit of a wood, pigeon and squirrel plus they build a pizza oven on site and cook in that. We've had a go at pole lathing and watched some saw carving, passes an afternoon nicely.
  25. Gimp mask and a ball gag ?
