  1. Make a small loop with some startercord or throwline, tie it on the static side of the system using a prussic etc then put a pulley on the side you pull attach the two with a small accessory carabiner
  2. Found a new mate today
  3. I think the printing makes a difference in the "professional image" If not on the rail I use a 2 desert tops I got left over from the Royal Navy one of which I cut off the arms. Hiviz has its places, say operating chipper or trimming a tree/hedge on or near the road. When entering the drop zone I always look up and try to make eye contact with the climber that way I see what they are upto and they have seen me. I know to well from when I'm climbing that some groundies need to check every inch of ground as they walk and hold the climber up.
  4. 2nd the creosote smell and fresh cut grass. And I'll add toasted marshmallows over a proper fire and coal smoke
  5. I'd get one. Look at the size of the log at the end of the video. How long would it take to handball all the rings and all the mess of cutting it up. Plus it opens up the possibilities of milling
  6. A friend uses a mini traxion above the zigzag. The rope comes out the bottom of the ZZ round it's pulley then up to the traxion pulley http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/climbing-equipment/pulleys1/20kn-petzl-mini-traxion-pulleyrope-clamp/
  7. I used to keep mine in my thigh pocket. When I took it out to wash my trousers I found it wasn't vacuum sealed anymore. It'll still stop the bleed but if it got damp and bacteria started to grow probably not best putting it on a big cut
  8. Hello sailor. Good effort with the meeting point. I couldn't get to the show, I hope to catch up with everyone at the APF
  9. Think I about your kit, maybe put it together on the floor in an imaginary/marked out 2x6foot area. You'll be surprised how it all fits together.
  10. Ill try one of each. Once I finish both bottles I won't care where they are from
  11. Clearing brash from a ditch. I built a dam to catch all the floating twigs etc. I did float a few logs down too
  12. My knot app doesn't expand on why not to use it for climbing. I've not read tree climbers companion, it's the next book on my shopping list though
  13. Seemed ok till I wrapped the throw pod around a small branch and the line 😡 I had to cut it and leave it up there as my climbing kit is at work
  14. Lidl bargain, throwline?? £1.75 (throw pod not included)
  15. Sounds like you got a good team. Climbers should muck in, it means everyone finishes earlier. Unless the climber takes the micky after they're out the tree, groundies shouldn't moan about them clearing their ropes and rehydrating. It's not like the groundies were busting a nut while the climber was getting up the tree, as until branches start falling there isn't a lot to do.
  16. There has been a few trailer threads recently. Cheaper than a truck, can carry 3t and the land won't break a sweat towing
  17. Better than a dash and door cards full of rubbish
  18. Mary rose was treated with PEG so she wouldn't dry out too fast. She was underwater for over 400 years.
  19. This should help http://www.trees.org.uk/Help-for-Arborists/Help-becoming-an-ArbAC
  20. . As a business your not going to give your money away, but when you get paid the same as several years ago it would be nice if they paid a bit more. Especially considering the thousands spent on courses and kit. I bet companies are charging more than year ago In ref to your post in the employment section: I don't think it's the employers content with paying £100 it's the climbers happy to climb for that
  21. A covering vinyl banner wouldn't be that expensive if you have suitable tying on points. Also if they are using your vehicle I hope you've amended you day rate to include it, if not go to the yard and use their trucks I found these via a suggested like page on FB: http://www.bannersex.co.uk/
  22. Looks like an old thread is gonna get a breath of life http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=16717
  23. Some big numbers there. I'd put my measly effort at around 12. I would love to get hold of some land 10+ acres and plant it up as a woodland, coppice some of it and maintain the rest as standards the sooner the better as it'd be nice to enjoy with my future grandkids. With 35 years till retirement age it should be of a reasonable size to potter around in and make some tree houses etc
