  1. May i suggest the course below. Get your chainsaw & climbing tickets along with chipper and stump grinder certs. Buy yourself a ground and climbing saw as well as a basic climbing kit and practice whenever possible. Initially sub out to local companies, as a groundie / 2nd climber. Gain experience and make contacts for a year or two. That way you use their big kit (chippers / big saws etc) BE A SPONGE. Soak up all the relevant information to make yourself better. Watch others climb and try it yourself. See what works do you. Ask to try their fancy kit (zigzag, spiderjack etc) before spending out Most of all enjoy yourself and good luck http://www.kingswoodtraining.com/tree-surgery-courses/combined-courses/arboricultural-combination-course-tree-surgery-business-start-up/
  2. Someone put a link to petzl website early April regarding information on this http://www.petzl.com/files/all/all/communication-zigzag/ZIGZAG-information-080414-EN.pdf
  3. The 'gym nut in a vest' would have got the bananas then left the others to tidy the skins while he strutted around tensing his muscles
  4. Sounds like a good project. Good luck and hope there will be pics
  5. There's always 'that monkey' who end the day a bit browner lol
  6. It's been said by someone else in a different thread, but do you want the whole Internet knowing your security arrangements? Im guessing there must be loads of members that are watchers, not every member is as honest as they should be and some of these members are into trees and relocation of kit business it might give them a heads up. You could have a secret top spec security bunker to store your kit, if 'they' want your stuff they'll get it or make a mess trying
  7. Been stitched again. It was roman day before half term
  8. Had a go at making a spoon
  9. There's a tub of wet wipes at work, got pine resin off like a dream. Main ingredient was isopropyl alcohol
  10. I've read the meat book and it really opened my eyes. I have his fish book to read as well as river cottage year
  11. No worries. It took some finding as I have several of his books.
  12. Here's a pics from my Hugh fearnley-whittingstall meat book See the fire baskets either side of the spit, that stops burning. He suggests wood or charcoal as a fuel. A pig of 40-50kg will take at least 8hours. Maintain the fire bigger at rump and shoulder ends as the thinner loin and belly will cook quicker
  13. If when you mount it you have the stomach open the heat will cook it from inside too
  14. We have a winner. 👏👏
  15. Guess where I am today
  16. I know someone who got the grenade maul and hand axe combo from screwfix. They said it works fine. Depends on the quantity if splitting you have to do
  17. Sounds bliss. Either you are fibbing lol or you are the lucky ones who got the balance right. I've heard so many stories of people working all hours and burning themselves out
  18. Just found some seeds on eBay. Looks like i'll be dusting the propagator off
  19. Should you want carting off to your grave like Dell boy. I saw a van advertising only 'fools and hearses' it's a yellow robin with a robin trailer for the coffin
  20. I've noticed railway thorn is more vicious
  21. I'm on railways
  22. My favourite are the white bone biscuits
  23. I don't believe for one second the media will exaggerate the story to sell papers etc lol
  24. Got too much to take back. Anyone want it?? theres about 30 trees worth, in Great Coates. Could do with it gone today
  25. There's nothing to say a rear handle can't be used up a tree. Strap a lanyard to the rear handle of 181etc then sling it over your shoulder, you'd hardly notice it. Surely you have appropriate security measures for the rest if your kit, just keep the small R/H with the rest of the kit. If your storage facility (truck or unit etc) is that small you can't fit a 181 or equivalent I don't know what to suggest
