  1. Forgot to say the above photo is my first go at carving
  2. I'll start off with a butterfly I carved. Unfortunately it became separated from the log due to a slight kick making it too weak at the bottom
  3. I thought I'd make one thread for my random thoughts etc that don't warrant their own tread.
  4. I won't be available for a few weeks I'm doing MEWP and rigging course at Kingswood training services. Then I'm off for a week that's why I thought marketon with kids Climbing coming on well. I'm using a zigzag once I got that I got quicker.
  5. Just passed my B+E licence. Easy really the trailer just follows lol I did an assessment beforehand to polish up the reversing. On test day I did a reverse to figure out my marks as it was a different trailer. We drove to the test centre. We did a unhitched and hitch the reversing bit then went for a drive.
  6. Anybody know the legalities of climbing trees (rec wise). Thought could have a day at marketon etc bring the arb widows and kids etc
  7. I too have 3 kids. I have my heart set on a discovery 2 7seater but more financially sensible would be the Kia Sedona. The Sedona is 2.9 diesel, sliding back doors so no dinks when the kids get out in car parks. If I had one I would have one of the back seats out so it has a large half width boot.
  8. Not the Stihl ones. The material is naff, I'm sewing for a hour or two every week. It doesn't stretch and tears keep ripping. I have forwarded ideas like larger gusset patch etc to Stihl and they have sent it onto product development
  9. Try Kingswood training. I did my resettlement training there. I'm going back in August for some more courses http://www.kingswoodtraining.com
  10. I too like the zigzag. If I didn't have that I'd go hitch climber.
  11. Kingswood do a startup course, I know it's in Kent so abit far but they have awesome instructors and onside accommodation. I'm back down there in August to do MEWP and cs41 (rigging) Here's a link for you to nosey at: http://www.kingswoodtraining.co.uk/
  12. Sounds like a brilliant idea. After listening to your seminar (at the arbshow hosted at kingswood) if I had set up alone I would have liked to become arb approved, if I'm not mistaken you have to have traded for 2 years. Therefor I believe that would be a good timeframe. It allows new companies to work to arb association standards from the beginning. As you would like to promote trained individuals / companies I think the 'working towards' membership should be on the level of Technician membership
  13. Our club has booked all next years rallies last year. I think average £pupn is £7.50. The extras were coastal site more setup for proper holidays
  14. On a rally people go off and explore the local village/town etc then get together in the evening and have a drink or two. I'm lucky to live in the midlands where we go in rallies around the peak district and down towards Melton Mowbray. Some lovey places and nice walks to be had
  15. Per years membership. Sites start around £5ish per unit per night for a basic site. Bit more if it has a shower/ toilet block and if you want electric or awning up. It's when you get to the coast the start charging stupid money. I looked at one site in Cornwall £17.50 (quite reasonable in hols I thought) After I add my missus and 3 kids an awning and electric it was a tad under £40per night. Good job I didn't have a dog as that would have been £4extra per night!!
  16. Try and join a local club and they should have some rallies organised. Our club goes almost every other weekend from Easter. Also consider one of the big clubs as they have sites nationwide, they're about £30-40(don't quote that price lol) the big clubs also put on rallies but by area
  17. Brilliant advice. My first van was £650 and it do me for a year to be sold on for a small profit
  18. Work on some pretty steep slopes on the railways, you feel it on your ankles and calfs the next day
  19. Even that doesn't protect, how many members does this site have? It's only a small percentage that regularly post. How many 'watchers' are there? It would be impossible for Steve to do a background check on everyone before allowing membership
  20. I don't use that system just a self tending idea. I have a zigzag. In the ideal situation you throwline in high so no need to change. Otherwise it a case of untying the clip every time. Then again would you need a self tending system in short assents with lots of readjustment?
  21. Agreed. How many people put a headache at the end of the day down to the sun/heat when its actually fumes.
  22. I want some, just keep forgetting to bit them when I get paid.
  23. First phot has pulley attached with throwline and accessory carabiner. Second pic same setup but with sling to move the prussic away from you, but you have the option to bring it in closer for descent Please excuse the hanging basket branch lol
  24. Ill set up an idea and take a phot in a min
