  1. I've got geese, they are brilliant at keeping grass down but I am not convinced they wouldn't harm a tree. Not as much as a goat would though.
  2. If I earned twice as much as I do now I would only work half as much.
  3. They are late coming out but that one is obviously unhappy. Drought as well as the frosts may well be adding to it.
  4. Definitely mildew, as already said. Cut the infected bits off is best. The infected bits are very obvious before the leaves come out, cutting them out in winter is even better than now.
  5. I use my 10 ton cider press
  6. My nearest neighbour is a mile away and that's too close tbh.
  7. I would tell him he was useless and use the c word but I'm not really a people person or up to date with current Human Resources protocols.
  8. Terrano. Had a few and they are damned good motors. Current one cost £1200 3 years ago and still going fine despite my complete neglect. Much prefer the 2 door.
  9. I would prefer the netting to be a bit longer lasting so I could keep them in my tunnel. At least I know what to expect now rather than finding out when the pallets collapse.
  10. I think the biggest push the peace process got was as a result of 911. Once USA declared a war on terror they could hardly keep sending funds to the IRA could they. The Irish were left with little choice at that point.
  11. Because you miserable buggers never answered (probably didn't know) I asked McKingstone themselves. They didn't know either so asked the factory. This was the reply "Our stretch ElastiNet has some content of UV stabilizer in it. In the UK we find it can take at least 6 months before the netting stars to breakdown in direct sunlight. I know our netting is used on pallets that are stored outdoors in Scotland. These pallets have held their unique characteristics 10-12 months now. It all depends on the level of direct UV radiation transmission."
  12. The BBC reporting of Brexit was extremely biased against leaving, maybe one day they will be proved correct in their prediction maybe they will be proved wrong. The point is that nobody knows yet and nor can they. The job of the BBC news in my opinion should be to report facts, not someone's biased opinions. I have no faith left in them whatsoever and feel very disappointed in their actions/reporting, it was a very long way from being impartial.
  13. Must have been a tidy old tree to have that stuck in it.
  14. I can shift it if she gives me £300.
  15. Looks more like Ash to me. I have been cutting hazel all day and they are more brown than that. Bark looks grey like Ash.
  16. Do you know if it is UV resistant?
  17. My Oxdale is loads quicker than that.
  18. I've always thought you must be able to adapt a trailer tent for such use. Loads of similar things in use in Oz. Some fantastic camping setups down there.
  19. Called in today for new 540XP. Good friendly service and a pleasure to do business. Offered to fit the bar and chain for me and thinking they most likely knew more about the job than me I accepted. No idea what was wrong but on starting it threw the chain immediately it fired. Put it back on, same again. Took it all apart and put it back together and all is good. No idea what was wrong with it either but it seemed to have a tight spot on the bar. All good now, runs fine and cuts well. Thanks for your help but I will fit the bar myself next time. Also bought a new penknife to feed my addiction. Proper chuffed with that as I have been promising to buy myself that model for quite some time.
  20. It means when it rains you will get wet.
  21. Must admit that's what I thought and I don't even know him
  22. I have seen very similar on a tree that eventually failed due to a rope having been tied around it. I would suggest wire would do the same.
  23. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=215490&stc=1&d=1483223291 Mine most of the time
  24. Mine is 16 years old and the rust is just starting to be an issue now. I don't think you could complain about that. I like them, don't know that I would claim they are the best there is but I would have another and this is my third one.
  25. On a revenge is sweet kind of note, My missus was having an affair, I decided to kick her out but also decided to wait until after Christmas rather than completely ruin it for my lad. In the meantime I recorded their phone conversations and gave the tape to his missus. Still makes me smile 20 years later.
