  1. There's a FB Arbtalk?
  2. I bought a 550XP a little while ago, I am very pleased with it. Have a 18" and a 15" bar for it, both are OK but the 15" does most stuff.

    Goaty

Get well soon @Goaty and thoughts with you too @mdt. Hard times for you both I'm sure.
  4. I'd say it was glyphosate. Very often causes chlorosis like that.
  5. Don't know what is in your pic but yes you can get purple apples. Spartan is a good example
  6. Ha I can top that. A twig scratched my face this morning and the salty sweat pouring out of me had it stinging all day. I didn't go on about it though. (mostly because I haven't seen anyone today )
  7. Or just have a spare bar and chain with you.
  8. If they were my trees that had been felled I'd be thinking I was owed something for sheltering my neighbours trees for all these years.
  9. I'm no expert by any means but sounds more like a root rot disorder but no harm in trying with fertiliser. Here's something I have often wondered, you tree folk go round chopping down trees and chipping the brash. Must be some occasions where the tree you just chipped is dead from some disease or other, does using the chip as a mulch spread the disease? Valid question as you just suggested you use a lot yourself and now have a sick tree. I certainly won't mulch my apple trees with any apple sawdust I produce from logging for that reason.
  10. If it was a nutrient deficiency it would be the whole tree, not just random branches here and there.
  11. I have one oak tree in particular here with similar damage, my tree had a complete strip of bark taken off from top to botttom. I suspect in time your tree will too have a complete strip missing as the actual damage becomes apparent. Mine was hit maybe 30+ years ago, the tree is still fine apart from the missing bark.

May be but I bet it isn't made of wood. I did think it could be concrete made to look like bronze that looked like wood.
  13. Yes I know you can find out if it is taxed now but you can't find out if it was taxed a year or two ago so what exactly do you mean by "history" then? Does history mean is it currently taxed? Anyway, DVLA are the people to get in touch with over such matters as MOT requirements for taxing historic vehicles.
  14. What history? There's no way for anyone to know if it was taxed or SORNed since they abandoned tax discs.

    Bronze?
  16. If it doesn't move then SORN it, you don't need to renew them annually any more.

  18. We used to use "W Perfect" flail to pulverise apple prunings. Serious bit of kit and would do stuff a lot bigger than hedge cuttings. Ran on a MF135 so your Ford should cope. Seen a few on eBay recently for around £1500 used but decent. Top tip, wear safety glasses and don't look behind.
  19. No MOT and no tax https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles/eligibility You do still have to tax it but it is free
  20. http://www.landmarkchambers.co.uk/userfiles/documents/resources/SFM%20CIL%20RTPI%20Oct16.pdf last page
  21. A 13kg propane bottle, cut the top off, pack it with scrap (old disc brakes are good) fill the gaps with sand and then weld the top back on. Mine is 85 kg.
  22. PM sent Eddie (in case you missed it)
  23. The hour meters on tractors always used to say "hours at 1500 rpm" or something similar. If they still work the same (which I think they do) an hour ticking over on your log splitter will register as 10 minutes or so worth on the hour meter, not one hour. Check the clock before and after an hour of ticking over to make sure. May or may not make any difference to you but if correct it is worth allowing for it before making decisions based on depreciation.
  24. I think they do have a bit of paraffin in them mate, they certainly burn like they have. I don't like them, the ash from the bag wafts about onto the food.
  25. I want to put mine into my orchard, I guess the trunks are around the 3" mark or bigger. What would you think I could do to stop them eating the trees? I use chicken wire tree guards to keep the rabbits off but reckon the geese can reach over it. This is 15 geese at the mo in a 3 acre orchard. It is my plan to achieve world domination by breeding geese and growing apples.
