  2. if you want to learn to gas weld go and do a evening course at local college. learnt a lot even was brazing ali using soap as marker when it could be brazed was not easy but normal metal should be easy to do. or maybe tig welding with right rod
  3. IOW comp 22nd of febuary soon as i have more details will post. believe it is at colbourne. start 9.30am. should be a good comp. things have changed so may be coming over again in the open this time. must be mad.

  5. find someone with a tig who can weld and will use a cast iron rod to weld it will be as good as new had a manifold on a mixer welded as lid was dropped. the lid dropped again manifold was ok chopped the exhaust off:biggrin:
  6. where is the soe midlands comp is it hertfordshire as nearest to postcode was royston. about a 2 hour drive have to see if son in law is off and get him to drive as hate driving now and m25 well stear clear if i can go senic route via bister and its nearly 3 hours. need a local one but on the wrong dates the 23rd of feb
  7. if you want a trailer and well made and local to you warrick at alresford. and will build it to your spec if they do not have one that you require. chap i know had one made to carry two cube of logs cracking trailer very strong and well built
  8. bit pf a time to go but jacobs and hunt have a large farm sale in april first saturday at west meon nr winchester. nr you in march southern auctions shaftsbury loads go for sale need a half day befre sale to have a good gander and see whats in your budget. if any that one would be the one but take someone who knows tractors to give those interested in a good looking over as there are some duffs in sale
  9. good to see you posting again do not leave it so long to update us folks. but good to know its getting cold maybe make nature go back to sleep for a few weeks. things budding birds pairing up and looking for nesting sites its TO EARLY
  10. under sale of goods act 1979 its dodgy goods ask them for a new motor as your one has been damaged. should replace with a new one.
  11. if its done 110 000 miles then gone past the yd25 70k goes bang. set of AT2,s £400 inc fitting from micheldever tyres sames as hi q. re yd25 did a lot of looking into when my went bang for court they were built in spain the yd25 they used aliminium shims in the bottom of conrods theconrod bolts were not the right bolts and the oil ring supplying oil to block broke down starving no 4 piston of oil hence conrod goes through side of block. you can do this before they o bang for aprox £500 but a new engine fitted will cost 4k from bill car engineering as that what mine cost but the engine from them is far superior what you say it looks as if the engine in this D22 is not the famous YD25 engine will have the engine details on the truck. as for 4 wheel drive problems mine goes in and out no prob. i was advised when taking out of 4x4 to stop disengage reverse a bit then go forward and light goes out mine works hard have it serviced regular as should be every 6k and it pulls well pulls trailers no prob. all in all a good truck. just get it checked over if needs be by a good mechanic to see if it has any major problems coming up to bite
  12. you say compact. that springs to mind the sub 30hp jap models. what you want it to do then it needs more power so as other posts ford, nuffield, DB,case old JD but there not as such compact as 60hp plus so a real tractor. i have a DB996 and its a good tractor but old and do not think i would want to drive it far on road as slow no power steering. for price be lucky to find a kubota or imilar for that money, hold there prices. guy i know has a kit tractor based on the MF135 loves it had no problems been modernised to some extent. ideal for what you want but looking at 4k in kit form. farm sales will be on in next couple of months see whats about and how much they go for gives you a idear what its going to cost you. and may pick up a bargain.
  13. what year navara is it pre 55 if so a d22 check if it has a yd25 engine if yes whats the miles if its 70k then either say to dealer if engine goes bang will he replace foc or if not then stear a wde berth new engine 2,5k plus fitting not much change from 4k. if the engine has been replaced then good truck mine has AT2 and ben going in a wet field and was still going but gave up as making a mess good off roaders but not like a landy for clearance. and pulled a tracked chipper on a trailer yesterday did abot 100 miles on a quarter of a tank so not bad on fuel. and go well D40 earlier models heard had problems. hope its ok for price will do you well
  14. my grandfather used to go to the states and did like to have a beer said to family everthing is big over here but the beer. you watch swamp loogers the wood they reject all good firewood same for axemen. either they do not burn much which they do or has apart from this firm not got into selling logs. be interestedif they have small firewood producers stateside
  15. hired a chipper yesterday tracked unit american model 7 inch was ok but put any small stuff in like brash and did not like it. not knowing much about these things what is best for doing brash type material with branches no bigger than 4inch as anything bigger is cut and used for logs. i know timberwolf, jenson.forst, greenmech but aare thes chippers or can they do brash
  16. its a total joke you have to have so much evidance to get anything done or for those caught to be prosecuted. then read that 880 .000 moterist caught in a box junction or in a bus lane talk about money for old rope but wanting real crime dealt with give up. also read that certain parts of towns and citys crime is hardley reported the locals do the justice themselfs.
  17. i run a cold presure washer off a ibc tank i got a fitting to screw into tank and a fitting which clips on and pipe fits to presure washer. filled up its heavy i have a 700ltr and thats 700kg of water my nissan knows its on back plus if half empty it will go back and forwards like being on a ship. yhe preusure washer i have has a honda engine with a interpump fitted best pumps you can get italian and my goes at 1600psi. the cheapest way is if you can get a 5hp engine then get a 1600 or 200opsi interpump and bolt to engine and make a frame for it to go on the good washers new to that spec are £1000 but as other posts if its to keep trucks clean then get a steam cleaner with detergent unit will clean them like new. i do not know if they will run on gravty feed oronly main presure. karcher do a good hot one or genie but again interpump for the pump
  18. i had a oleo mac 950 going back and that was a brill saw never let s down in fact we had 3 of them in end was looking at if i got a new saw trying a oleo mac same as efco if on a budget look at mitox cheap 2 year warrenty. coppicer i know uses his day in day out and has no problems with them just new bar and chain now and again. or if you hav a domar dealer near yu look at them solid machines seem to have got in a rut that the only saws to have are sthil or husky. good but others as good just do not see them that much
  19. a coppicer friend has mitox has a 50cc saw had it for a few years paid £160 still going strong uses it for big fallen timber has a 38cc for coppicing his last one lasted over two years and a fault developed with carb parts to fix made it not worth it so got a new one kept the old one in case he needs spares i beleive they have a 2 year warrenty on them so has to worth a punt. buying and trying one cheaper than the other big two
  20. had a customer said our wood was wet it was not as it had been stored in our wood shed all summer so was dry. he used to leave it out in his back yard uncovered then moan. he went to a different spplier i checked the wood he delivered that day it was wet and green. he did not come back but if he did it be double what e was charged for wood. rest of customers chuffed with wood we supply. but for what we get and time it takes to do. i sometimes think is it worth doing. but two buy two loads every 3 weeks and one all year round so its a bit extra.
  21. 12mtr tree next to a block of flats. is it his tree as he lives in the flats has he permision to cut it down. and o will get dad to give me a hand as he has a chain saw. then he must be fully qualified. what if it has a tpo on it hope he has the cash for the fine cutting it down without permision. as you say what do they charge for servicing a car. £50 a hour and they go on about what tree surgeons charge.
  22. can i say forest and arb are first class Richard and jason look after there customers. son in law wanted a new saw. a ms 251 asked for a price. and on checking around could not be beeten on price plus there service is second to none my blower pull cord broke went in was fixed in 2 hours ready to be used again. do not bother shopping around as i know there price will be cheaper or the same for same product. and if it breaks down will try and get you back working as fast as they can.
  23. re adder bites and dogs. heard of a st bernard dropped by a adder. had to be rushed to the vets who then had to get anti venom from southampton general to give to dog was a touch and go. so if out and you think there may be adders check which is a local vet and if they have anti venom. as needs to be given fast more so in small dogs. and humans
  24. re getting these stoves going just got a product called flamers woodshavings dipped in parrifin wax burn a treat just then need to put some twigs on to keep it going. that was with them when it was blowing geting it going. now i have these will us it more nothing better than a hot drink not luke warm from a flask and stewed
  25. there are a number of cards out there used to use one all the time for work. get one you can use at most filling stations. as if you get a card just for say bp your stuck with BP and found if i went out of my normal area had to check where bps where can be a right pain if you have to make a 20 mile detour just to fill up. beleive Tescos do a fuel card. and get points on using it. morrisons do one as well if morrisons are more in your area
