  1. +3 i have a bog stanard plastic leaf rake from garden centre and its does the work still going strong. cerora do a good rake lot of the arb boys round these parts have them. and very strong
  2. so as i said that the chip was part of the carb so new carb. and interested if he saw was running with a carb and a new carb was fitted. would the saw have problems because the new carb was slightly autotuned differently so engine wil struggle to compensate for the difference. seen it on race engines. and took some time to get new carbs to dial in to engine. i may think it could be said for saws. maybe the old school saws may have found there neice now and the big boys may loose out to the old school saws still being made.
  3. mitox brand new for that price with two year warrenty.
  4. +1 depends if the trees are good specismens or your normal tree ivy is very good for nuthatches, tree creepers. plus other bugs which birds like. what you could do is look at trees and say keep two of them so go around the bark with a small axe or bill cutting the ivy so there is a gap this will kill any ivy up above but as other posts will die and then fall out of tree. and go around base of tree and try and get as much of the ivy dug out to stop it re creeping back up tree,s. but ivy is a pain no matter how much you try and get it will come back and it will need doing again in a couple of years. i have a number of trees on a playing field and i left about 6 of them to ivy as the trees are on there last legs the others i ring ed the ivy to stop it growing.
  5. look at a Toro mulching mower in fact can use hem either collect throw out of side or mulch. very well built and a good price.
  6. do not thinks so because its part of the carb it will bound to be expensive. worked on printers memory for a pc £5 memory for a printer £300. can see it being the same for this stuff. its not the run of the mill H/D or memory but a chip on a carb. bingo calculator time.
  7. talking to a freind to day re new saws coming out and he was saying a lot of the new saws are electronic carbs. so can not be fiddled with out in field. i know most saws just go on and on and never need playing with. but what saw is of the old school that still use a normal carb. this is in the 40/50cc range. but most saws. Husky are going down this road and sthil are following. is it a good thing or will it be a problem on small engines. i know injectors can become problomatic. is this the same with the new carbs
  8. do not climb but when doing council work on side of road it gets a bit tense. need to pack up quick and head for the nearest bush or villager hall. not that easy.
  9. i have burnt softwood on our stove and been ok its been seasond. for over 2 years so bone dry. sweep came out and swept chimney hardly any soot came out. so will burn softwood when its dry.
  10. tried to pm you but your inbox is full may have what you want based in winchester. let me know if interested
  11. i was given a tip like yours use a bar to make hole fill with water soak posts in water and knock in watching for the water as it shoots out and hits you in the face:biggrin: have to say makes putting posts in a doddle just slip in nice and tight do not move
  12. now consumers advice service. trading standards do not get involed untill they have. worth talking to. but think it will be what i have said they have to prove without a shadow of doubt that it was your fault. using contaminated fuel or it had water in fuel. the carb maybe up creek but whats to say it was you who did it.onlyway is to have the fuel sent away to a lab for testing will they pay for this no way. stick to your guns. let them prove it or fix it.
  13. sale of goods act 1979 para 14 that the item should be firt for the purpous it is intead for. they have to show how it is your fault that the saw is now not working. to say fuel was contaminated. have to be able to show that the fuel has been tested andd shown contaminints in the fuel. can not see them having done this. i would go back to original dealer and say that you want the saw repaired free of charge. or a new saw less the time you have had original saw or a refund of your money less wear and tear on the machine. if they will not budge get a second or third opion. write to thenm stating they have 21 days to resolve the issue or you will start a small claims action for the costs involed. so you will need to know what you paid for saw how much it is now worth if in working order what it will cost to repair plus your costs. eg court costs travel cost going to other dealers your time doing this telephone costs electricity cost using pc.postage and paper sending letters. needs to be broken down on the form you fill in for the courts or you will only get what you ask for and maybe less if not all put down. i think a letter saying you are going to do it may make them have a change of heart and fix it. but i found out from a large dealer they would not budge and court it was it cost them as found in my favour. buthad all the evidence to prove it was there fault. good luck sorry for ramble
  14. you have the letterhead are you using a windows based or mac if latter not a clue. what you can do is scan letterhead then open it in say word import picture letterhead. click on picture lasso it save it then open a new word document import it onto document and put it were you want on new letterhead. jobs a goodin. did it with my business card scaned imported onto new doc put it were i wanted and saved as letterhead been using it ever since for invoices and quotes
  15. looking at getting a new stove for next winter. now stovax is top of list at mo. want to cut down on the lpg combi boiler. can i get a stove with back boiler and run it instead of the combi or does it have to be open feed for stove. there lies problem have no attic space for header tank. any sugestions apreciated and can you run one or the other as lpg does the hot water so would use in summer instead of stove.
  16. same with me always looking for cheap ones at boots sales or a chap i know who cleares houses and has not a clue on that stuff now have 6 bills 2 ax,s both gilpins. 2 gransfors small ax,s and 2 draw knives need to go up to his place again see if he has any more come in last one stanforth £3 now use it as main bill along with my cracking gilpin spar hook a dream to use clenaing binders
  17. the only way to get a axe as good as a elwell is get a good tool blacksmith to make one. Dorset gave me the name of a forge in wiltshire olive forge and they make axes will make it to the design you want. may have to get hold of them see what they can do
  18. draw back with gransfos is the axe head is rather on the fat side unlike a proper side axe witch is thin. i have a elwell 4lb axe and it is a dream to work with. as other post a nice thin 2lb axe would be nice to have in tool kit. can you show some photos of the ox head be interested in what it looks like. i am trying to thin down my gransfos on the wet stone but will take time to get it nice and thin. but a good axe for hedgelaying. my other tool is my elweel spar hook nice and small with a sharp edge ideal for cleaning binders when cut down. and for cleaning wiskers up on hedge
  19. chap i know has one and its been good to him works hard and hardly gone wrong
  20. have to say that for hedgelaying the tools need to be sharp or just dig in and make it hard work. i have a peddle wet stone and that brings them up. and can shave with them when done. if they are neglected i use a flat chain saw file to get a edge then finish off with a fine canoe stone. but tools need to be razor sharp yes do loose ege but if sharp just a rub over with a stone and as good as new. i try and do mine at least once a week.
  21. my wife when starting dog grooming went with yellow pages. bigest waste of money ever spent did not get one job from it reverse kept getting spurious emails asking to do dogs reply nothing came of it. eother the competion trying to find out what they charged or yellow pages getting there people to send emails to make it look as if it was working. keep your money and spend it on good name boards outside cliants when working will get more from that than yellow pages
  22. melted bee wax i have heard is good for sealing wood. but as other posts needs to dry slow or it will dry to fast and as you are finding is cracking. believe its 18months or more for it to dry without using a kiln
  23. we have had the same problem down in new forest. it may be the same thing 20 dogs so far died walking in the forest. beleive it is a form of e coli bug. try these people as have been looking after all those in the forest. http://www.andersonmoores.com/
  24. nasty take care with joint as for reiper gloves now used my all season and still as good as new no tears damage at all only had 3 thorns try and go in but felt them and pulled away. so not had a thorn in hands since using. only time have had them when i grabbed some stuff doing a different job and a broken thorn branch was in middle and not wearing gloves so my fault. best £21 i have spent on a pair. was going to order a second pair but do not need them as my first ones are still good as new.so go and buy yourself a pair wish you got a pair earlier.
  25. if those who own woods were to aloow those to go in and manage be plenty of firewood. i only need to look around me as i have 2 farms bordering me and so much fallen yet will not allow any one in to extract. its maddining just going to waste got to much money and do not want any one else to have a bit.
