  1. You are going to have some serious tail swing when turning, there is a lot of machine behind the axles. I don't think journeys will be stress free. Good set up all the same.
  2. I'm okay I've got my tin foil hat on ? (but it's really aluminium foil)
  3. The tyre man we use always says 3 cleats on the ground is a good rule of thumb provided there is not excessive side wall rippling. (150-200 hp machines) , probably means there will be very low psi considering the weight of your alpine and flail combo
  4. Ransom spares, l&s engineering. You may not notice much difference, but you might. The saw will look better of course.
  5. L &S engineering look promising check them out.
  6. Looks like a copy of the woodchuck one. (a woodchuck quad) Chainsawbars sold them for a while
  7. Questions were invited leading to questions asked. I guess Maria is not over sensitive about the subject.
  8. I would suggest Shavey from this forum he knows his dolmars.
  9. I;m not familiar with the machine but there is an inner bearing race still on the shaft and part of the cast housing in the square. so it seems you are missing the balls the outer race and some housing. Take the bits off go to a bearing suppliers and from what you have they should be able to identify the size you need
  10. Badger, as hard as nails and love to eat wasp grubs,
  11. I don't think there are any air leaks the saw ran well before. I decided to run it on aspen like all my others so put all new rubber on it, manifold, impulse line, fuel line and a carb kit. The limiters look as if they are an after thought to an old style carb to meet emission regs. I' ll take them off and retune again.
  12. I'm having trouble setting up the carb on a 372xp pre x torque and am blaming the adjustment limiters. They are a bit mashed up (second hand saw) and locating a screwdriver in the running saw is a pain. If i remove them what is left, a screwdriver slot? At the moment i have 2800 rpm at idle and 12250 rpm flat out. Thanks Nick
  13. My hi lift is aluminium not steel.
  14. Scale insects, sap sucking bugs, quite hard to treat as they have the limpet like shell. When the white fluff is showing they are easier to control. Maybe not worth trying to do anything.
  15. Yes the holders are interchangeable, I went the other direction and have two tool holders.
  16. I read a paper on this, found by a general search. The gist being the water in the wood is replaced by PEG ,done by submerging the wood in PEG and warming gently for a long (long) time. The PEG doesn't evaporate like water so the wood is less likely to crack.
  17. Saws have tank vents I wouldn't worry
  18. Has anyone felt the need for one? part no 537 33 10-01 CLUTCH COVER ASSY 372XPW
  19. My method is as follows logs on the previous fires ash, a firelighter then a kind of wigwam of kindling then smallish logs on top. When we light up usually leave the door open to increase the draw and warm the chimney up once away shut the door and relax.
  20. The rainbow is a sun dog and if you're lucky it can be a complete ring. I think it is the sunlight refracted through ice crystals that gives the effect.
  21. How is the winner of this prize draw going to receive it considering the face to face handover stihl insist on?
  22. It could be orache, still a weed though
  23. Has anyone used these bars? Aluminium core, 20% lighter seem cheaper/on offer
