  1. Both have appeared in my boundary hedge which is a mix of thorn, beech holly and white beam I just cut the russian vine at the bottom a couple of times a year and and that seems to control it. The honeysuckle appears to be far more aggressive though. The small bit that came last year affected the bit of hedge it grew in (a bit of beech) in that it didn't grow like the rest of the hedge. I've just spent some time pulling and cutting the honeysuckle out, the dam stuff had crept and layered itself for at least 10 feet either side of the place it first grew. would it have overcome the hedge given time? I intend to treat it with some homemade glyphosate gel as it re grows do you think this will kill it, will it kill my hedge as well?

    181

Chris, that sounds like my starting technique. Wouldn't say its a doddle still needs a good pull!

    181

My 181 is a monster, ridiculous compression so a sod to start, but always does. I run a 28 inch bar. 32 years old.
  6. Still not much choice in the full time forestry category one saw cs2153. The dealers are quite a distance away from husqvarna ones . I suppose all this prevents too much in house competition within the husqvarna group of brands.
  7. Don't think anyone does but jonsered parts database came up on my huskie dealers pc along with husqvarna when looking. Doesn't mean the parts are available though.
  8. SawTroll its weird I use my saw for hours, clean it, partially dismantle it and the colour had just not registered with me. I have looked but not seen! Don't know why, all my other saws are bare metal/black maybe that is why. I would be a poor witness in court .
  9. Thanks for the replies, so the jonsered handle is painted black with black wrap ? and the huskie is unpainted/silver with black wrap? I think i prefer black/silver
  10. They are essentially the same saw. I'm after a wrap handle for my 560 (humour me). I havn't found a huskie part no but have a jonsered no 577621601. 1 Can we get jonsered parts in the UK? 2 Will it fit a 560? 3 Anyone got a correct huskie part no? 4 Anywhere have them in stock? Thanks Nick
  11. The non stick coating does exactly that, comes off quite quickly. I have an A 2400 axe and like it a lot, a work mate and my son have also used it and said how much they like it. The stainless plate does protect the shaft. If it does break I won't be able to re shaft it like my others though.
  12. Aspen do an auto stop spout which screws on their 5l fuel cans. It may fit chain oil cans, its quite expensive though, £18 or so. May also be too big for some saws
  13. vx is almost the same as vxl except the length of the top plates are longer on the vxl so cannot really see how it would be different.
  14. I have similar issues with a 91 vxl on my little echo. I decided it was a charateristic of the chain. When used up I'm going to try a 91 px to see if its less grabby.
  15. Cheers for that I've just bought a pair, can't go wrong wrong at that price.Plus an extra 10% discount if ordered before midnight.
  16. WTF!.....Subtle spam.. not.
  17. Rob D has some on his site go to accessories then special offers he has some 15 and 18 inch sugihara 3/8 by.58 k095 fitting bars
  18. It's now at £1270 !
  19. I don't have a problem with the terms he was offering he has always looked after us very well. I suppose he has to go on the offensive re online sales.
  20. Paraphrasing he said they loose money on warranty claims which is carried a bit by their higher sale price. Machines from elsewhere have made them no margin hence the admin charge (for form filling diagnosis etc )
  21. I've been doing a bit of negotiating with a local dealer for a new saw . His price is near enough internet for me to buy from him. He then told me that if I bought online the dealer has a policy of charging £20.00+ vat as an admin fee for any machine (not supplied by them) needing warrenty work. Is this sort of policy familier to anyone else? His excuse being prices are cut to the bone etc etc. I also got the impression that they would favour self supplied machines repairs over others.Anyone else come across this kind of thing ?
  22. Thanks I was hoping so as I have a couple as spares
  23. Do both saws share the the same pattern bar mount? And what number it. Thanks Nick
  24. On paper they are almost identical except for power and the 545/555 lacking rev boost. I'm guessing that they cannot be tuned (easily) because of autotune. Are the cheaper saws worth it or would they be a disappointment
