  2. How does the ZZ do with self tending?? Thats the main feature i love about the SJ.
  3. Can you get leather replacements for the velcro??? as the velcro has a bolt and not a ring:confused1:
  4. I recently took 5 metres off 11, 15 metre leylands. Took 2 climbers and a groundie 5 working hours and rammed the tranny to the hilt.
  5. Its the geckos, the bottom velcro straps seem to come loose as i found it impossible to get them tight enough. This led to me not feeling safe in them so i sold them. Everyone on my firm had the same problem when they tried them too.
  6. I know i shouldnt but i only use two points when im not im not comfortable, like right at the top or some extremity. Just being honest! Although i always have 2 when im chogging down a stem.
  7. yeah needs to be nikwaxed evrytime its washed, thats why im gonna go for a cut n climb next!
  8. Had mine nearly 2 years now! the reflective strips are starting to come off and i have to treat it after every wash to keep it waterproof but it has been great, the collar kicks ass in bad conditions. That cut and climb jacket looks v good too tho, it says it stays waterproof even after many washes and i like the idea of an elasticated hem.
  9. Just think how much these contactors get paid to do the job!!! Pay peanuts, get monkeys! No doubt with all the cuts going on you will see more and more of this kind of work!
  10. That is what i have to avoid. Maybe i have to just poison the stumps then see how it affects the retainers, with the possibility of removing the most effected ones???
  11. if i stump grind or rip the stumps out with a digger wont the remaining roots left over sucker up???? and with eco plugs do i still face the prospect of affecting the trees close by i have to retain??
  12. I have potential job in a small bit of woodland where the client wants to clear all the poplars on his land bar the ones on the border of his property. The problem is he does'nt want any stumps suckering up and if i poison them i run the risk of poisoning the ones he wants to keep. Anyone have any ideas???
  13. DJ, producer, party organizer and boss of my very own (vinyl) record label!
  14. Is the zigzag any good on seriously wet, slimey 11mm rope??? this is where the SJ fails, as i found out the other day!
  15. yeah we bought a couple and were very dissapointed. Luckily we got our hands on some of the last ms200ts that were on sale!! Were now holding out for the new huskie, hope thats not another turkey like the 201
  16. ah, yes. I think in the case of the vicar, he was seen as acting for an organisation (the church). theres my arguement out the window with homeowners.
  17. It was told this by my NPTC instructor, who used it as one example of why we have to hold these tickets. I think the vicar was negligent as he didnt even check the guy was compitent for the job. The jist i got was that if he had been doing it for free (not taking the wood) he would'nt of faced any charges. sorry for being vague i was told this a very long time ago. But if you get someone in to do a job that requires certification by law like using a chainsaw on a professional basis and things go horribly wrong then i believe you (and the guy you got in) would be negligent.
  18. the client is responsible only if the person taking on the job is not relivently certified, eg no NPTC tickets (******). Saying this the person doing the job would be in trouble too. If you do have all the correct certification required by law its just your ass on the line! and that is why we all have insurance
  19. The client must check that they are all qualified to do the job they are being PAID to do eg NPTC tickets. There was a case of a vicar who got some chap in to fell a tree, he said he would do it in return for keeping the timber (this was classed as a payment) but the guy used a chainsaw on a scaff tower, flopped a branch into the scaff tower and killed himself. After a HSE investigation the vicar was charged (i cant remember what with:confused1:) but it was due to him allowing someone to do the job in a professional basis who wasn't certified to do so. So yes if things do go wrong with some dodgy old contractor who hasnt go his tickets you can end up in th sh*t in that respect.
  20. Yeah mine has started to slip after 4 months hard use, time for a new cam. I wonder how long it would take to wear out a ZZ???
  21. Sounds like you just need to start trusting your anchor points, a tape loop, biner and pulley will do the job. Going over a branch and a pulley sounds like hard work and is unecessary. I climb on a pulleysaver which is nice but given the choice again would go for a ropeguide as its just engineered a lot better and is easier to retreive, has a fall arrest system and a lot more i havnt got time to get into.
  22. make sure you oil it regularly. makes a big difference.
  23. neither, they both fall to bits.
  24. when would you ever use that thimble thingy either??? I got the honey bros version for half the money!
