  4. you could proberly still get finance on an ex demo machine (if you can find one) that would be a bit cheaper than brand spankin' and you should still get a warranty.

  12. I met her once when i did the trees at Lambeth Palace, they had to walk her in secluded/non public spots or she got lynched. When i told my dad id met her he asked "did you spit on her?". I said "No". "You dissapoint me boy!" he replied!
  13. Im a self empoyed climber that uses other firms machinery. Gonna get myself a med/lrg saw that can tackle most things. Ive always used a ms460 and thought it was great but they now unavaliable to buy new. Ive heard a few dodgy things about the 461 but wondered what people reckon on here. Thought about a 560xp but dunno weather it would be big enough to handle a larger fell. Just need a good all rounder. any advice??
  14. I recommend doing the ABC level 2 Arb course if you have a bit of time. It will teach you to do tree surveys as well as condition reports and will give you a broader view of the whole industry including biology, law, pests and diseases and much more . Its not too taxing and it isnt squeezed into 3 days which is good IMO. It definately made me a more confident arborist.
  15. Check my avatar, left forearm to the bone from kick back with a 200 used with one hand (yes i know). Luckily no nerve/tendon damage.
  16. id have a "death from above" sticker on mine
  17. I thought the positioner was quite smooth. I liked it when i had a go.
  18. could you put 2 D's on the bridge??
  19. I dont think they match up with your pictures, yours doesnt have the same staining. IMO it looks like your tree has suffered some kind of mechanical/animal damage and a pathogen has entered through the exposed sapwood. The tree has then done a good job of occluding and compartmentalising it along its medullary rays. I could be wrong but from what i see i wouldnt say it was phytopthera as there are no lesions or black exudates and if it was sooty bark there would have been blackness and necrosis of the bark. I wouldnt like to hazard a guess at what it was without a fruiting body. As i said i could be wrong, someone will proberly come along in a minute and put me straight like they do
  20. The two pathegens you talk about mainly affect the cambium and most of the symtoms would be visible there. I think sooty bark only affects sycamores (could be wrong tho). The tree seems to of compartmentalised very well from the past damage. Couldnt comment on what the fungus is without some kind of fruiting body. Was there any exudates??
  21. Wicked, really shows the tree loosing the battle to keep it contained. I had a nice bit of ash recently, again loosing the battle but against innonotus hispidus. A few hours after cutting the very edge of the infection (where the fungus met fresh wood) oxidised to a wierd blue colour! i should really get a camera.
  22. Were going cheap until things get going again. We used to be booked up 3 months in advance, at the moment were lucky to have 3 solid weeks! and our TW 190 turbo just cracked its fly wheel!!! not gonna be cheap
  23. Just used one we have had hanging around the yard for a while. Best maul ive ever used!!! absolutely amazing compared to what we had before.....effortless! 100% recommended:thumbup:
  24. mmmmmmm.........er no, not that i could remember. Was thinking of that beech with the mad butt near the fishing pond at the top but on second thoughts i think it was rigidoporus.
  25. Absolutely ripping through the poplar! Had that branch been damaged??
