  1. There are trees in close vacinity of the same species that are to be retained so i dont want the poison spreading to them through the root system.
  2. no takers on this one??
  3. Dunno what it is, but it dont look like no fig to me.
  4. me too, even the helmet mounted ones. Although i am quite sweaty:biggrin:
  5. I have an area of woodland where somebody wants me to fell 25 poplars but doesnt want the stumps suckering up and i cant use poison as there are other poplars on the land the client wants to retain. Ive been thinking of innoculating the stumps with Pleurotus mycelium on wooden dowels. What are peoples views on introducing this fungus to a woodland area??? Am i right in thinking that as its a only a facultative parasite the heathy trees that are retained should be fairly resiliant?? Any views would be great. Thanks!!
  6. my work mate has tirols, they are a good hard boot, welted soles, look like they will last a very long time. Downside is they look like Forrest Gumps special shoes:laugh1:
  7. We had to rescue a macau that had been in the tropicana adverts and james bond, he gave one SERIOUS bite!!
  8. yeah, sorry:blushing: would it be legal to turf them out if they were considered to be causing damage or nusence???
  9. I think they are now classed as vermin.
  10. yeah you need to see it. nice avatar tony, you must of read Food Of The Gods??
  11. was he not using a cambium saver?? I did that on my SJ, and if it glazes your rope think what its doing to the tree!
  12. Is that how much airstreams cost in NZ??? wow thats twice the price of over here!! Those ones look tastier than the airstreams IMO:thumbup1:
  13. I have a similar knick but only on one strand, i keep an eye on it but i doesnt bother me too much. The Ropeguide is far superior IMO,. its reteived a hell of a lot easier even when choked, it has a fall arrest system, retrieval snap is soo much better thought out, there is more i could say but after owning a pulleysaver i can see all its advantages. Will be getting one when i retire my PS.
  14. So you can have two lines/both ends attached. I have 2 rings and a swivel on my bridge, swivel for my main line ring each side so i can switch my other end to whichever side it wants.
  15. ArbTroll
  16. B****cks! Just had a look at the Zermatts and they have jumped in price 20 odd quid!!! Damn weak pound!!
  17. Yeah its not as smooth and hard as blaze, but its compareable to PI. But its a hell of a lot more smoother than imori which i cant imagine works well in mechanicals due to its softness and pliability.
  18. I get cold feet even with high end moutaineering socks, zematts will be my next boot!
  19. Yeah but tachyon is fairly smooth and that has been getting damaged too.
  20. The two ropes in those photos are quite different. Imori being pretty soft and Tachyon being fairly hard in comparison. Cant comment on construction as im not that much of a rope geek but judging from the differnt posts on here it seems there is a few ZZ with a sharp edge somewhere. Ive run tachyon through a SJ for 5 months so far with zero abrasion. Also is everyone with a ZZ using some kind of friction saver??? I knackered a rope by coming out of a tree too fast without one when i first got my SJ.
  21. nothing but trouble with ours too. When we replaced our bigger saws recently we opted for the 046 and 066 instead of the newer models. All stihls new stuff seems to be plagued by problems.
  22. shocking, whoever did that has no idea! Most trees pruned with a mewp look rubbish IMO.
  23. They look really nice but 700 dollars??? thats £350!!! wowzers!!
  24. My airstreams are still going srong after 18 months!! I find them a bit narrow mind, my left big toe goes numb on the side after a long day. Might try zermatts next.
  25. Out of the 8 mature (30-40m) planes we did over the last 3 days that had showed signs of massaria last year, only one was showing this year. 3 x 80mm branches surprisingly @ 28M!!!!!
