  1. Yeah, if it turns without the plug but not with, sounds like too long a reach plug. Same plug in both pots?
  2. i will give that a go tomorrow. Ideally i need the saw for a dismantle on sat but failing that i can borrow my friends 020.
  3. okay, need a bit of advice. my ms200t is not oiling properly. If you run it up with out the side cover on you can see oil coming out but i presume it is not oiling enough as the chain is running, pretty much, dry. the bar is fairly new and is nice and clean so the problem goes back to the pump or filter. the worm gear seems to be in good condition. i have rinsed the oil tank with petrol but that did not help. i have been quoted £40ish:thumbdown: so wanted some advice from the o wise ones. And does the price sound alright?? thanks in advance:thumbup:
  4. i had the same/ similar problem on an older 357xp. it ran spot on, never missed a beat until i changed the fuel tank/ back handle. after the swap it would only start if i poured in petrol through the carb and would only run if i had it full throttle. As soon as you let off it died. tryed two different carbs and had the same problem. took it took local tech and he sorted but couldnt remember what the problem was. on the receipt it had a new crank seal so not sure what the prob was
  5. My dad has been using the wolf compressors, profesionally, for a good few years. I think he started off with a 50 litre and had no probs. He now has a larger one and is gooood
  6. good luck to um
  7. tips of the trade!! i, myself, am leaning towards getting a couple of the metal wedges. me thinks the advice is brill.
  8. i dont appreciate people dissing my bussiness. i thought 750 was a realestic price. me and me lads will have it knocked out in a day! I think you where right to stick to ya guns. people need to realise that tree surgeons are trained professionals and not glorified refuse collectors!!
  9. Thanks for the advice. I have a felling leave but he is only 3 foot so it has to be fairly up right. I like the high lift and have used to good afect. I did go to do a bottle jack once but when push cam to shove the jack decided he had seen enough and gave up so had to throw a rope up. Luckily it was only the butt we where felling.
  10. I have tryed plastic ones before with some big/ tall larch. I was wacking away with a sledge for ages and it was like hitting rubber!! In the end I just dipped it the way it wanted to go and then delt with the mess
  11. Hello, A bit green when it comes to the world of wedges but I am after a wedge to fell a tree in the opposite direction of lean. So plastic wedges are about as good as a chocolate tea spoon and a hi lift will do the job but are pricey and fall to bits when you let rip on them. Has any body got any suggestions? I see there are lots of metal ones with barbs etc but are they any good? What do you use? Cheers mark
  12. there is a place for your type mate!!!! and it is the leyland nuffield forum. google it, preety helpful people there
  13. An Eskimo was on holiday in the UK to see his in laws. His in laws suggested he took their old car and did a bit of sight seeing and as he had never seen mountains before he set off to Wales as he didn't fancy driving a far as Scotland in their rickety old car. On the second day grinding up and down the welsh mountains the car came to a halt and after the smoke cleared the Eskimo lifted the bonnet to view the engine. Shortly a farmer appeared in his Landrover and stopped to offer help. "Having problems " enquired the farmer. " haven't a clue " replied the Eskimo, " Only ever driven a snowmobile before". The farmer walked closer and viewing the engine bay plastered in oil and the thin trail of oil down the road the farmer exclaimed " I bet you've blown a seal". The Eskimo gave him a strange look and after a few seconds thought replied " So what , I bet you've sh****d a sheep !"
  14. i let my 550xp tick over for a full tank then went balls out after that. seems to be aright, contrary to the advice given here:biggrin:

  17. two girls were walking through a cemetery on there way home form a night out on the lash when they both suddenly needed the toilet. the first girl used her nickers and the second grabbed at a wreath and used the ribbon. later the next day one husband said to the other. "my wife came home last night with no knickers!" The other one said "thats nothing, my wife came home last night with a card up her arse saying 'we will never forget you, from the lads at the fire station'."
  18. i was looking into a bobcat and flail. quite expensive so i bought a brushcutter. at least when its not working the machine has paid for itself with in the first week! i have had quite a few scrub bashing jobs and i love it!! all over it like a sanitary towel!!!
  19. they do seem to fetch good money for what they are. a friend payed 3500 for one in brill condition and with like new trailer toppper and link box
  20. i know there was a poll the other day about what make two stroke do you use. but i am asking does any body use fully synthetic or maybe semi?? i know it is obviously a better lube and more refined but is there any advantage in a chainsaw. i know mineral is cheap and cheap is gooood. i am curently using the oregon oil thanks mark
  21. i am running an 18 with a 9t sprocket. you know if you blow a compressor over the sprocket in the guide bar and it makes the high pitch whuring sound. well i get that when i rev the saw!! i took the rakers down a bit too much me thinks. you take ya life in your hands when using this little puppy! but it goes through timber like a hot knife through butter:thumbup:
  22. when ever i have had a job in the industry i have worked a day for free so that my prospective employer can see how brilliant i am. i think the nptc are a bench mark of competency and a first step in that area. not all that shines is gold so dont look at what tickets people have and look at what there work is like and see how they get about the tree.
  23. I am finding it hard to fit it all in at the moment. Work 5 days a week employed and usually 2 days self employed. Drop the work van back at the yard and feed the goats rhen I got to get back and walk two naughty dogs. And the same again in the morning. It was an 8 week old kid that died. Can't help thinking that I might of noticed his illness if I had more time on my hands. Want to go self empoyed
  24. i went back to college in 2009 because i had no tickets and was finding employment difficult without them. i did get a part time job with a reputable company while i was at college which gave me the hands on and 'grounded' experience that some of the other students lacked. Pretty much the college were saying, finish the course, get a pick up and you will be getting 150 a day!! i believe it is hard to get on in this industry unless you have worked from the ground up. ie start of by dragging brash. A lot of the people on the course are not in arb anymore. They probably had a shock when they were asked to pick up some sticks or use a rake! I came out of college with my 30 31 38. I recently did my 39. i was on the assessment with 2 other people. the assessment commenced at 9am and did not finish till 5pm. the guy was pretty thorough and put me through my paces. The chap who did the training with us told one student that he was not ready for assessment which was the right thing to do. He struggled to climb up the tree and dont think he would have been any better getting about the crown and wielding a chainsaw. As far as aerial rescues go's. a groundie would pass the 38 and probably not climb again untill he is put on 39 training. When it comes to it they have forgotten most of what they were taught. I think companies should do regular practice runs, then it would be a well oiled machine and also identify people who need extra practice!
  25. yeah we had an angalo nubian. He was a very playful goat and very musky at times. my dad picked him up from wales while he was picking up a car in a transit car transporter. he said that every time he went to change gear the goat would have its nuts dangling in the way!
