  1. i sold a 440 on ebay that was running fine. get a call saying it he had used it once and then it died. he sent it back. not only was the pot and piston scored (still fired up thou when i tried it) it looked like he had been using it to cut breeze blocks. the 90% chain was nearly totaled. it took a whole lot of sharpening to bring it back. i took the bar and chain off and sold it as spares and repairs and got the same money for it. i prurchased a stihl blower ( ruff looking and covered in glue and paint). turned out to be a fairley new one and was initially happy with it untill i fired it up. the sound from the engine was just like knackared dry bearings crying. sounded terrible. took it to my local dealer who gave it one pull and said it was a ticking time bomb. opened up a case, seller said it was fine and that i had broken it refusing to refund. when they eventually agreed to take it back they complained to ebay saying that it was not broken. total d!£k head and to top it off i gave them negative feed back they then contacted saying that i had to change it or they were going to start some more crap up on ebay. fingers burnt at both ends
  2. i have had haix boots for pretty much all the time in this trade. i currently have the blue ridge. they where really comfortable but now, just coming up to a year in, the lining in the toe cap- on both boots- has collapesd meaning i have lumps squeezing my feet. hugely uncomfortable. Plenty of life left in the boots so a little peeved!
  3. yeah hopefully some one else is in a worse state than me. i suppose its a good way to kick off the season!!
  4. i was going to say. i et there is some damp ones at the pile!! but then again they probalbly dont get the damp weather that persists these parts.
  5. whats the chances of being able to complete a 60 mile cycle race with only 2 months training? on an old bike. needs a heap of work that i doubt it will get!! (same could be said for owner)
  6. Anyone entering these races this year. Exmoor Beast Cycle Challenge - Somerset Exmoor Beauty Cycle Challenge - Somerset I reckon i may sign up, doesnt give me long to train thou. Not been on the bike hardley at all since i left school and the bike i got is an older one (late 80's tourer). as long as i am not last i suppose
  7. as said before the flip caps are great. i always have problems with the screw types after the groundies have been at them. it is as though they have had an impact gun on them!
  8. i use nitrile ones from mole vally (local farm suppliers for those not in the southwest)- dual purpose as i do a little bit on the farm.
  9. yeah just showed this post to my mrs. i have had to educate her. she recons they are pants.
  10. dejavu There is nothing new about the stihl caps. And they are great!
  11. i have worked with 2 girllies. one of the lectureses at collegeg was a lass and my partner has a list of tickets (none climing).she is a conservation ranger and comes and grounds for me from time to time. real hard working, wish she could apply the same ethic to the house work- something i seem to excell at!!

what a pro in that second vid!! loving the mains powered saw up the tree!!! wonder if he is running it off a generator at the base of the tree!!
  13. Hello. I am after 20ish in lamb ewes. 2 tooth or 4 tooth. We are based in west somerset so the nearer the better. thanks mark
  14. The new l200 looks pretty good to me. The traction control and 4wd system seems like a good idea as well.
  15. Yeah I have had similar thoughts- skinny tyres cut through the crap. But wider tyres wont tear up a field. I do a mix of work, farm, woodland and roadside. Had the khumos before but they where noisey on the road.
  16. wasnt to keen on the stock td5. the newer puma seems to have plenty of go and the traction control system is amazing. As said before, more electronics to go wrong and expensive to fix. there has been quite a few that are plagued with problems. a friend had one at work (brand new) that didnt move for three months because of some immobiliser problem that had the main dealer stumped. western power had a couple that would chew a clutch up every 1500 miles- spent more time in the garage than on the road. but i have heard more good than bad about the new defenders. still uncomfortable thou
  17. Guten tag. I have recently bought a 52 plate isuzu tf pick up. She needs a new set of tyres. Currently she is running 205/80/16 on a 7j rim. Can i go any wider on the original rim?? Its got one decent tyre on it (in terms of tread depth) -a bridgestone dueler that looks like an ice skate! I have looked at tyres in the original size and they are fairly cheap.. £80ish for khumo kl71's.. this could definatly sway my decision as the goats dont like any let up in funds!! but was hoping for something wider to help with offroading abilities
  18. a friend drives a 90 on a 12 plate. recons he is getting around 20 - 25 mpg
  19. fourtrak was on 165k with absolutely no problems what so ever, was a commercial and had a hard life as well. only swapped for pick up
  20. jeeze bob that looks like a bit of an animal!
  21. i have hitched a lift. they ascend pretty fast. make sure you got a few stones to throw at the opperator if he starts playing silly buggers :D
  22. you obviously have not come across the puma engined or td5 defender... although a lot of the drive-train parts are similar across the marques, the engine has got more computerized as it has got newer. the new defender is awsome off road with its traction control but with that comes yet more electronics. i do like the sound of the td5 with a straight through exhaust. and the puma pulls better than the td5.
  23. I just love call outs. I would settle for 4x my normal day rate so that only takes it up to 6 large ones. If it was friends or family I would do it for free. Bring on the bad weather. By the way I have goats that are eating me out of house and home. I am thinking this Christmas malrkey is getting in the way of work, and no I dont have children. :D:beer:
  24. thats the sort of call out you would want at 250 an hour min of 2:thumbup:
