  1. Yah, I've just gone for a 25 on my 66 having removed it from my 44 which didnt really like a 25 that much. It's very noticeably faster in the cut. Rough I dont think people are obsessed with putting small bars on. For me it's about cut speed vs weight. I'll always grab a saw with the smallest bar I can get away with. Will cut faster and less sharpening. Cant stand seeing folk brashing up with giant saws.
  2. I've found it drys out fine in the rest of the log pile. I remember buying a whole mature tree once. Couldn't believe how heavy it was at first, but as you say, quickly lightens up
  3. Trying running some petrol through the oil tank with the bar if see if it pumps that. Could well be that the work gear has gone. Pop the clutch off and have a deeks
  4. That seems a good deal. Flog the carving bar if no good to you and you be within budget. I have too many carving saws. Was thinking about selling some.... Back handle ms201 well used but gwo 200 quid Back handle dolmar 3401 bought new still on its first sprocket (1/4 pitch) 250 quid. I think your just over the hills from me? I'm 9 miles from Alston if you want to come have a look/go
  5. Plenty of members on here
  6. You after new or used?
  7. I got a back handle ms201 with 12 " bar. My go to chipper saw and generally sub 8inch saw. I bought it for carving, but spends alot of its life just cutting stuff up. It's the non autotune one, was about 200quid second hand and has been faultless. Deffo got a zippy non shit one. New I'd be looking at a 360wes or little dolly 4100 ( or whatever the number is)
  8. Prolly best to stick a few pics up.
  9. I was pretty shocked at the time. Came back to them, explained they were arguing over 12 quid and their welcome to get other quotes. Since then have done quite a bit for them and have always charged full fat price from then on.
  10. I remember quoting for an old landlord. They had a medium ash tree over an oil tank they wanted out. They had been good to me so I wanted to be fair, I said it's a 4 to 6hr job, I would like 20quid an hour and my groundie will need 15. They got back to me saying they would pay 12 an hour for groundy. I literally couldn't believe it. They are really nice people, but not shy of a few Bob. I've offered to do a job seriously cheap and they still try to save 12quid bartering.
  11. Interesting stuff. How did you find that job? Did you have experience making they big nests? How are the its joined? Just like a a loose weave or actually fixed?
  12. Ah, seems like a pretty new chain and pretty new bar. Puzzling. I put the tension as per with a normal large bar and chain then just a smidge more as this lopro does seen to pop off its rails easier.
  13. Just Googled ringpuffer. Fairly unexciting results
  14. Getting my monies worth out of every bit of ply
  15. Hows yours going eggs? On boarding and insulating mine the now.
  16. Best of luck. Dont have a place myself but I can imagine it working for someone. Where in the country are you?
  17. You defo on the right website?
  18. Get some more pics up. I'd like to see your chain, rails on your bar and quite a few more of the log. Also check there isn't too much rock on the chain on the bar, if its worn it can push the chain over at an angle and feel like the bar is very burred
  19. I reckon unequal teeth on one side. And a knarly knot/branch at that point. If your watching the top rails of the mill carefully, it cannot rise up that much without you noticing/ preventing it
  20. I've has flakes of fuel line in my carb gauze before which made the saw scream sporadically. I'd strip the carb, clean it and pop a carb kit in while your at it. Tune up afters. Have you tried using the saw in different orientations? Does this make a difference to tick over speed?
  21. Does it surge up in revs or seen to big down a bit at full revs?
  22. Pretty sure gustharts quoted me about 950 for a 880 with no bar
  23. Thanks pal. Have sent and email. Probs in your spam
  24. Thanks. Link doesnt work. Looks like it's a link to a copy of it on your PC?
  25. Could Do with a manual for one of these if anyone had a one or a link? Cheers
