  1. Sorry to hear this. Hope you get it back
  2. I'm too far away to do it, but I'd want atleast a foot of pegs left on main branches for carving. In an ideal world youd get some ideas from whoever is going to do the carving. But ultimately not the end if the world if the Carver has to chop a bit off
  3. Had a go with stihl msa 120 today. Great little saw but trigger is on/off no where inbetween. This may well effect carving Anyone know if this is the same on the 160t? Or ms200 @roughhewn?
  4. Would happily leave some reviews rob. Never new this existed and dont think I have ever got an email about leaving one . For 5quid off I dont think i would have missed that. Enjoying the dinosaw files
  5. I've got a few m8 stainless eyes dotted about on my chip box ( off ebay) and use either old 9mm rock climbing rope (nice and stretchy) or those cheap pull strap loops. The gul ones are very good https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0036/4226/1577/products/p_AC0002B4BKBK-roofrack-straps-3m-roles.jpg?v=1548324220
  6. Had this with some used leisure batteries I bought. It's a pita. Some companies will only do sealed new batteries. I'd ask the seller to arrange courier. Failing that. Parcel it up real good and say it's a box of bolts or something heavy. Plenty of companies manage to send batteries by courier!
  7. This guy seems to have got the hang of it
  8. Not used the rail rods. Sounds like you already know, but things get pretty ridiculous using 7 rods ( I only have 7) of the standard ones. Saying that not broken or bent any yet.
  9. Got a petzl grillon that i used twice then kept in my climbing bag for a few years if you want to make me a on offer!
  10. Not heard much about these little 525t. Which is odd as the 150s and 2511's seem to be very well used. It's very rare I go to work without one of the little ones and a proper topper now.
  11. This. Exactly the same as a flipline just rope instead. Fisherman's as a stopper and fisherman's to krab on other end. Prussock and other krab as your attachment on 1 side d. Shirley you got the idea of that if you've been blocking stuff down on spikes?
  12. Hows that 525t working out? You got it 1/4 chain?
  13. Echo 2511 Ms150t Echo 2700 carving Ms201 carving Dolmar 3401 carving Ms200t Echo 360tes 346xp 026 357xp Ms361 Ms440 Makita 7900 Ms660 084 Ms880 Seems excessive when I write it down as a list like that. They all seem to come out to play often enough though
  14. Yep. Lots of folk use rope instead of a wire core flipline. You can just whack a prussock on it or a pulley and friction cord. You'll be much better with it on your side d's
  15. Dont know what you mean? Got a pic? Do you mean the rivets that hold the nose sprocket on?
  16. The makita /dolmar 7900 might be specced similar to a 365 but I promise you it had alot more torque/grunt. I'd put it between a 46 and 66 for both weight and power, but is it heavy, personally I wouldnt be messing about with it with a 18'' bar unless constantly cutting firewood in a yard.
  17. Never used a battery saw for carving. Suppose they might be alright, but you have alot of trigger time so expect you will chin the batteries pretty fast ( depending how big things you make are.) I know a day carving usually uses alot more fuel than a normal day climbing/felling. What ever you consider check that the trigger isn't just on/off. Pretty poor trying to carve with electric saws like this. I have had a husqvarna 321e and a stihl mse 220 for carving. Dont really get with either but the stihl is better. But numb and cumbersome, but doable if your confined to a garage!
  18. If they are the same pumps as the ms180 and 170 pumps they need changing every ten minutes anyways. I wouldnt fanny about removing it and cleaning, in my experience once they play up they never work again, faffed on optimistically with 4 or 5 and ended up replacing all of them. Not too dear anyways
  19. I am no expert at all, am looking for some drill attachment type rods also. Have repeatedly had issues with the brass screw together style ones depositing several meters of rod and brush in chimneys. Pita! Highly suggest clip together impossible to unscrew ones
  20. It's worth noting in Scotland you can do your 7.5t test in a swb 512 Mercedes van and it's basically the same as a car test. That's how I did mine. Just a theory, medical and driving test again. Was a good cheap easy solution to get me the grandfathers rights. You can obviously do this same thing with a trailer to get 7.5t plus 3.5t
