  1. I am truly sorry. That is a serious issue
  2. Out of the 2 you mention I'd go for sweet chestnut. As Jonathan says it'll stain unless you oil it ( I'd suggest tung oil x10 coats)
  3. Yep that's the outer I believe.
  4. Looks like it from the pics. Think that's the inner one? Is it going spare?
  5. Cheers matty, had seen these, adds up to 50bucks with the import charges and then have to get fixings as well....cheapest option so far though. Will try Stephen in the morning
  6. It's in the post so not celebrating quite yet.
  7. Shit happens, but you know, I've has worse accidents
  8. Think I just accidentally bought a 3120. It doesnt have dawgs. Obviously it'll only make me feel half as macho if it doesnt have massive oversized bark shredding dawgs. But my manlihood cannot persuade my brain to spend nearly 50quid on some OEM husky ones ( only seen online / random spares etc). 1. Has someone got a spare set they want shot of? ( unlikely) 2. Does anyone know of a cheaper place to purchase? (Unlikely) 3. Can 372 spikes be modified to fit? ( highly doubtful) as these are 2 a penny. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F292975546322 Thanks y'all
  9. Hour or so on the chisels today just pulling some detail out of face - quite a lot more of that to do
  10. Done it in a pretty bitty way. Probs 2 days, if that, carving in those pics. Always a bit slower carving a form you've never done and have only done 1 or 2 quick sketches of. Lots of walking away, looking at it over a brew. Also working from the yard- many distracting important tasks. Like waxoyling the chipper.
  11. First time I have used it. When you get used to the heavy girder above you they are pretty handy. Did feel like if a bolt or two come out I'll be pretty wonky with that on top of me. So far so good though.
  12. Nicely done. Must have taken a good while. Great finish
  13. Coming on slow today
  14. Try taking the fuel cap off after it has cut out. If it sucks a bit, or behaves happily for a short while when you do this it may be a tank breather issue. Is compression good?
  15. Also chainsaw shopping earlston had a load of old husky bits on a clear out. They may still have something. http://www.borderchainsaw.co.uk/
  16. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F171805125949 Cheap old oem stock from dandrikop in Greece
  17. Great stuff. Is that all burnt or stained and burnt?
  18. Thought I'd take some pics everyday I work on it. Setup a new gantry a frame jobbie which makes life easier. I'll keep posting pics as I go
  19. Wondered why I could see any left. Tried to post you a link!
  20. Just used aload of old screw gate krab. Steel for heavies, ally for the straglers
  21. I got a few batches of barely used Lyon slings for speeding off the Ebay. V cheap.
  22. Prefer the lighter look, less orangey. For comparison here is a pic of same boards oiled with tung
  23. Dont worry, I got them out of scrap piles. And a unused morso frying pan! No progress on truck for a while, insulated entire house though, so had that kinda distracting me.
  24. Couldnt find the thread Steve, sure it exists but couldnt find it. Feel free to move the thread. Made some quick shelves for the kitchen from some pippy elm I saved from a farmers firewood stash. Milled up about 5yrs ago. Yet to plug the screw holes. No oil or owt .
  25. Osmo is the boy Roy. Lasts a good while, easy to reapply, not many coats required. Tung oil is amazing, but requires many coats, getting gradually less diluted. Depends how you value your time. Personally osmo with less coats is a winner for me. Dont know if you bothered with the milky anti mould treatment they do. I did and reckon its worth it.
