  1. Nicely done. Must have taken a good while. Great finish
  2. Try taking the fuel cap off after it has cut out. If it sucks a bit, or behaves happily for a short while when you do this it may be a tank breather issue. Is compression good?
  3. Also chainsaw shopping earlston had a load of old husky bits on a clear out. They may still have something. http://www.borderchainsaw.co.uk/
  4. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F171805125949 Cheap old oem stock from dandrikop in Greece
  5. Great stuff. Is that all burnt or stained and burnt?
  6. Thought I'd take some pics everyday I work on it. Setup a new gantry a frame jobbie which makes life easier. I'll keep posting pics as I go
  7. Wondered why I could see any left. Tried to post you a link!
  8. Just used aload of old screw gate krab. Steel for heavies, ally for the straglers
  9. I got a few batches of barely used Lyon slings for speeding off the Ebay. V cheap.
  10. Prefer the lighter look, less orangey. For comparison here is a pic of same boards oiled with tung
  11. Dont worry, I got them out of scrap piles. And a unused morso frying pan! No progress on truck for a while, insulated entire house though, so had that kinda distracting me.
  12. Couldnt find the thread Steve, sure it exists but couldnt find it. Feel free to move the thread. Made some quick shelves for the kitchen from some pippy elm I saved from a farmers firewood stash. Milled up about 5yrs ago. Yet to plug the screw holes. No oil or owt .
  13. Osmo is the boy Roy. Lasts a good while, easy to reapply, not many coats required. Tung oil is amazing, but requires many coats, getting gradually less diluted. Depends how you value your time. Personally osmo with less coats is a winner for me. Dont know if you bothered with the milky anti mould treatment they do. I did and reckon its worth it.
  14. Be interested if the OP isnt
  15. Yep, I'd careful or for on the bits around the cavities. There should be some good timber in it though. I'd offer 200 -300 quid or so
  16. Hope they are the boys. Let us know how you get on after a few days stood in them
  17. Expect you want the same spikes. Cant see them in the pic mate I.e long short angle etc
  18. Good luck! I tried to replace my old kleins several times, went back to them and bought new pads and straps in the end, couldnt get used to geckos or Stein x2 or they treehog ones. Had to sell them in the end. I'm sure with enough perseverance you could get used to other style of spikes but I couldnt be bothered really. Hopefully you can find some close to whatever type the komets are, shank and spike wise. Which ones are you climbing atm?
  19. I would check out if 1000lbs I'll be up to it. I regularly feel like I am maxing out my 9500lb winch on the pickup moving bits around. Potentially better off getting a swivel crane with chainhoist
  20. Aye, but if you have bad rabbits or deer they will Chong it. If rabbity you may want to cut it higher than 6'' , possibly more like 18''. As for deer probs just as high as possible. Probably some actually hedgelayers or coppice workers will be able to advise you better than me like
  21. Pleased a bit wear on rope is ok. Is the pin supposed to rotate as you descend? It used to whizz round, but doesn't seem to anymore
  22. Nah it wasnt jo. Lad called gav been helping out on this work near consett, we are both new to SRT and this job was the one that made us both get on and try it out. He knew his anchor wasnt great, we just didnt think about it before I was heaving him out ( essentially adding double my weight as well) to the anchor at 30° . Horrible horrible moment. Very grateful he was ok, and his anchor was completely isolated as this slowed his fall a fair bit. We immediately did some canopy anchors after that, mostly using an alpine butterfly. But not always possible to get a retrievable one as we were often maxing our 37m ropes out. Be ace to go over some more bits of it with you, I'd like to have another look at the Haas also, see if I can tweak my homemade one any. Thanks for offer.
  23. This is what I was hoping someone would say. Lets see
