  1. Be interested if the OP isnt
  2. Yep, I'd careful or for on the bits around the cavities. There should be some good timber in it though. I'd offer 200 -300 quid or so
  3. Hope they are the boys. Let us know how you get on after a few days stood in them
  4. Expect you want the same spikes. Cant see them in the pic mate I.e long short angle etc
  5. Good luck! I tried to replace my old kleins several times, went back to them and bought new pads and straps in the end, couldnt get used to geckos or Stein x2 or they treehog ones. Had to sell them in the end. I'm sure with enough perseverance you could get used to other style of spikes but I couldnt be bothered really. Hopefully you can find some close to whatever type the komets are, shank and spike wise. Which ones are you climbing atm?
  6. Lol
  7. I would check out if 1000lbs I'll be up to it. I regularly feel like I am maxing out my 9500lb winch on the pickup moving bits around. Potentially better off getting a swivel crane with chainhoist
  8. Aye, but if you have bad rabbits or deer they will Chong it. If rabbity you may want to cut it higher than 6'' , possibly more like 18''. As for deer probs just as high as possible. Probably some actually hedgelayers or coppice workers will be able to advise you better than me like
  9. Pleased a bit wear on rope is ok. Is the pin supposed to rotate as you descend? It used to whizz round, but doesn't seem to anymore
  10. Nah it wasnt jo. Lad called gav been helping out on this work near consett, we are both new to SRT and this job was the one that made us both get on and try it out. He knew his anchor wasnt great, we just didnt think about it before I was heaving him out ( essentially adding double my weight as well) to the anchor at 30° . Horrible horrible moment. Very grateful he was ok, and his anchor was completely isolated as this slowed his fall a fair bit. We immediately did some canopy anchors after that, mostly using an alpine butterfly. But not always possible to get a retrievable one as we were often maxing our 37m ropes out. Be ace to go over some more bits of it with you, I'd like to have another look at the Haas also, see if I can tweak my homemade one any. Thanks for offer.
  11. This is what I was hoping someone would say. Lets see
  12. I've been loving it, loving it, loving it, loving like this. Been deadwooding mature oaks for the last 7 days. You're at the top in no time. Made a home made knee ascender/haas/ saka which I've been constantly adjusting, but think I'm pretty much there now. Had a bit of a nasty do swinging a mate across to another tree ( also just got a rope wrench) anchor snapped out and dropped him about 20ft, his rope occasionally catching on a few bits, landed on his feet thankfully and was ok. But def a good warning about the old base anchor double force thingy.
  13. Is this normal? Been using it for 7 days, noticed a reasonable amount of ripe fibre on the wrench. 13mm yale xtc I think.
  14. Well I'll gladly pay postage and some pints. But as I say mine is fine, happy for it to go to someone witha broken one!
  15. I'm sure it'll be good for someone. Mines working fine just now. How much you after?
  16. I've had a similar hole on my ms361 for about 6 years. No issues so far
  17. Sorry to hear that. If I had the same happen to me I'd get a mix of echo and dolmar/makita Probs: Echo 2511 (ms150 upgrade) Echo 361tes (ms200, less zingy but reliable) Dont know about mid range 50cc saws, probs try the echo, wasnt blown away by dolmar/makita 50cc saw, not to bad though Husky 365 20" ( no AT) Dolmar /makita 7901 ( belter of a 80cc saw) Not tried 660 equivalent of Makita dolmar 9100, dont think echo make anything above 80cc? Hope you get on your feet soon bud
  18. Or atleast get the ignore button to work on the app
  19. Link no worky Edit: I'm sorry, yes it does
  20. Yes I'm in. Location south Northumberland, nearish hexham, Alston, weardale etc. Happy to travel an hour or so meybs more. 42'' double powerhead etc etc selfexplodingarts at gmail dot com
  21. Looking forward to the next installment. I take it it was a voluntary role there?
  22. Sounds incredible thanks for sharing, nice pics. Went to Costa rica many years ago, would live to get back one day. Well done for managing to get organised and get out there!
  23. No. They arent available new in UK. You can buy them new in France though. Are you in UK? In your shoes I'd buy a used 346 if your set on non AT husky, you could sent it to spud for a port job/ maintenance if your feeling saucy. Alternatively there are decent pro saws 50cc range non AT from dolmar / makita and echo.
  24. It's good sign atleast
  25. Had a belter of a couple of days deadwooding mature oaks over footpaths on a nature reserve in weardale. Got another 5 days of it next week. Little makita battery saw going well, done a handful of full bar length bits (have to be gentle but does it). Battery lasting surprisingly well. Also first few days on pure SRT, using a homemade knee ascender and rope wrench. So far so good. Bit funny but not as awkward as I was expecting for branch walking etc.
