  1. No joy yet but I haven't really had time to look, you know the usual loads of other stuff to get sorted Will give you a call sometime this week.
  2. old perkins generaly leaked from every gasket, not sure what the new ones are like. Had a V8 cummins in one of the lorries and it was a lovely lump and sounded soo sweet.
  3. Could be interesting because I am in the process of building a flatbed on my 130, if they ask for a report they can pay for and arrange it or I take all the business elsewhere. But when I told them about the 110 beng rebuilt into a 3500kg 130 all they said was "could I just swnd in a copy of the first MOT" So would be suprised if they did want a report
  4. Rain has had a huge effect on our trade, ground is just too wet to work with now. sick of it now. I don't mind working in the cold
  5. Anything is do-able but will it be cost effective to do ?
  6. My bad, i'm tired but still 6" deeper than I go depending on where the posts are from the easier ones to use imo have a bottoming lip which speeds things up, if you drop down on one side then just chip the lip out.
  7. Standard for 6 foot panels is 8 foot post, 2 foot in the ground, bugger digging 3 foot deep post holes all day. If you want a 6" gravel board use a 5' 6" panel
  8. are electric brakes now legal in the UK ?
  9. his wallet
  10. They weren't interested in building it. I decided to build it myself and service metals at braintree have been really helpfull with what bits I would need.
  11. Well I decided to crack on and build the body myself for the 130 but after putting the runner rails down the length of the chassis the usual landrover quality comes out and the offside tank bed support rail is miles out of line to the rest of the chassis. Now I spoke to a friend who builds recovery bodies before I started and he said that he had seen one where it didn't have runners and the crossbearers were straight off the chassis mounts. Does anyone here have a defender dropside (a tipper will have runner rails) they could have a look under for me and just confirm if it has runners or if the crossmembers are mounted straight to the chassis and there is no runner rail. I will use a runner anyway for the extra strength but am just interested to know how others are done.
  12. They are coming out this week to discuss how they are going to sort it. Just a little bit soul destroying after all the work gone into it. I am currently looking into how we could do another complete rebuild using all glass fibre panels and bulkhead (with better water sealing) same with the doors.
  13. change the fuel filter, appears to be the cause of a lot of fuel error codes, mine has cut out several times, on the one time we put it on the diagnostics it said it was a fuel injector problem, but a filter change sorted it.

    credit cards

One of the best things we have done, wouldn't be without our card machine now, as an example all todays work was paid for on cards, and as I said on another thread we find for jobs some people use it as a sort of short term finance, having jobs done when they wouldn't normally because they don't have the money.
  16. Really fed up today. After 2 and a half years completely rebuilding my 130 in my spare time as part of it instead of having the bulkhead galvanised I decided hot zinc spray was the way to go as I had heard about bulkheads distorting when galvanised and our local galvanisers are well known for distorting stuff. But the firm who done the hot zinc spray made a bit of a mess of things and powder coated it aswell, long story short it looks very much like powder coat is all they done to it, and if they did hot zinc spray it was rubbish job as it is already rusting Not very happy at all I was going to rebuild my 110 hicap next but am now seriously considering an Ibex, although pig ugly rust is unlikely to be an issue, however after calling them today I won't get a kit until the end of the year.
  17. It's buggered I will take it off your hands Failing it not being a fuel filter there should be another filter in the inlet pipe union on the injection pump, give that a clean, then make sure the return to tank pipe is clear especially on the union where it exits the ip. Also too loud a turbo is not good.
  18. It can be done very easily, different people have different views on what needs to be done to it, but whatever it would be advisable to tell the insurance company
  19. Does'nt the l200 front diff lock automaticly when you put it in 4wd, similar to a Ranger.
  20. they do tippers aswell Thanks for that I will give them a phone tomorrow, but I have a feeling I will end up building it myself.
  21. £152 a c/mtr WOW glad I don't have to buy mine in especialy at that price, tbh at that price I would rather use my gas boiler. err i'll have your cheap stuff
  22. I phoned them today about getting a body built for my 130 and they didn't even phone back, so they won't be getting the job.
  23. I doubt that has any payload left after those two are fitted. Nice idea though.
  24. All of our turf laying work is based on a price per metre and that price depends on how big/small the job is and how much prep work
  25. Not quite but close, had a merc 1617 that we managed to put 1.4 million miles on before the gearbox and cab fell apart, engine was still sweet though Currently landy one 165000 landy two 122000 ranger 73000
