  1. With all do respect to AHPP and b101uk this story took place here in Agusta, GA USA. I am confident that the Marines were acting according to their best professional training and in the spirt up keeping the peace and restraining the perp untill the police and ambulance arrived to remove said person. Bit of advise, Don't mess with the US Marines or their toys for tots service every Christmas.
  2. Nice Job, do they have names yet?, must have names so they can be properly introduced to billys chickens!. Have a nice weekend. easy-lift guy.
  3. If you can save your money buy a new model stihl or echo. Buying something used may or may not be a good idea. Best Regards elg
  4. There are many slip and fall accidents here in the states, glad the Marines were able to assist this poor misunderstood person along the way!
  5. Here in the states once you give up the land line expect many such calls. My rule is not to answer Private numbers, caller unknown, or the blank screen call. I can still remember what it was like not to have a mobile phone and my first answering machine, a simpler time to say the least!. elg
  6. If I had to do it again neither brand, main reason my iphone offers a maps app = to anything I have seen on a GPS device and the app was included with my phone! In my opinion Garmin/TomTom will soon be Obsolete.
  7. I have one about 100' tall if I fell it will you come over for it?, o by the way the cones that tree produces could kill some one if you got it on the Head, OUCH!!!! elg
  8. I use Gator blades here in the states, Try and find a Rotary dealer in the UK they may carry the product and it really does a good job. Good Hunting! elg
  9. What a waste, government if given the chance will shoot it's self in the foot everytime!. Does the firewood industry or the arb. industry have any ability to rain these idiots in or is it a EU thing and your all cooked?
  10. Pack in ice, take a anti-inflamatory like ibuprofen , unless you have a reaction to such OTC meds and see your local doctor or Orthpedic doctor. Depending on your age and how long you have been in the buis, it may be arthritis or Carpal tunnel syndrom. You may have also just crunch the area in question or hyper extended, with out more details it's hard to say. Let the dictor be the final say. Take care. elg
  11. Knowledge is power!, Go forth and seek what knowledge is available and have a nice day! elg
  12. Any time the government subsidizes anything the results are usually a disaster with the general public holding the bag. Here in the states we have government funding for Ethanol production. Another complete waste of time, "resources that we could be eating!", and most of all $$$$$$$$. I suspect the same is true for your bio mass plants as well. Private industry is the only source that can make a determination weather or not something can or will work. It's called Profit! Once again the government as well intended as they think their actions are will very often end in financial disaster.
  13. Thank you for your service. Not knowing your specific job while serving I would suggest some basic courses in Arboriculture. Depending on weather you were enlisted or non-com or commissioned in the service can also determin to a point which direction you may wish to go. Not knowing your financial situation I believe School/Work in the Arboriculture field part time or full depending on many factors may be your best course of action. Good hunting. elg
  14. It is inevitable that Echo's quality will continue to improve due to it's somewhat recent acquisition of Shindaiwa also of Japan. Expect to see big improvements in the future and more competition for Sthil/Husky. elg
  15. Dear Mark: Sorry for your loss, I to know how tough this is. Sad regards elg.
  16. Like any other commodity if there is a market for it people will try and sell what they believe has value weather real or imagined. I have actually sold palm trees for my clients in the past, acting as a broker. My client was happy and so was the buyer. It was a win win, however most people have no idea about the value of something hence the disappointment and or unusual offers for tree work and removal of trunks. I guess they don't know unless they ask?. Some clients need more training than others.
  17. Nice site Sam, in answer to Alex question, Google seems to be interested in good quality content with no BS. For the most part your reputation and quality of content will continue to get higher Google ratings more than anything else. Good hunting. elg
  18. With any event improvements can and will be made for the future as i have commented with a fellow member the numbers for this show compared to shows here in the states was very good and since I have not heard of any weathers issues even better still. These events take a lot of planning and help to pull them off and it sounds like Gustharts did great job and can only get better with future events. Congratulations and much future success. elg
  19. For the first 10 years of my business I had only one phone number and shared my fax machine with the same number as well. For the last 8 years I have had a 866 number "toll free" and I also kept my local number as well. 3 years ago I also got a second line just for the faxes. If I had to do it again I would have had all in place from the beginning to the present. Mind you my coverage area is kinda of large but the increase in business has more than made up for the start up cost which was very low. Remember your investing in your companies communication needs and future business expansion. Good Hunting. elg
  20. Nice site, to the point and not a lot of use less information. What would we have done with out youtube? elg
  21. Sig Sauer really make fine quality arms I am sure you had a grand time. Good Hunting elg
  22. On the surface this story seems simple enough, a person doing his or her job and following rules and regulations. After seemingly avoiding an accident and preventing damage to property and person his reward is to fired?. Maybe there is more to the story then has been reported or maybe this will be the end of the story. In either case this is utter stupidity. Here in the states we have a good samaritan laws that help citizen who are willing to help others in auto accidents until additional help arrives for rescue. I guess the same does not apply for doing the right or correct thing for work. Really dumb. elg
  23. Depending on how close the trees are to the wall and shallow or invasive the root system is could be your next course of action. Based on your one picture and details, I would explain to the client that the trees over time have contributed to the leaning of the wall and that in the short term it best to remove wall first, and than the trees. Replant with something less invasive and suggest a nice hedge in place of a slate wall for the future. The wall is a public safety issue in my opinion and the trees in time will continue to be an problem. Of course pull all of the needed permits and make sure everything is in writing. If you need a deposit down for this job, by all means secure one. This looks like a fairly good size project. All the best. elg
  24. I like and use both Power-Pruner and Sthil version of same type of product. The latest model of the Power-Pruner with the larger engine is also nearly 2' longer fully extended compared to same Sthil model!. Good Hunting. elg
  25. would that be the EU?. Maybe they will run out of money in the future as well?
