  1. Thank you for your service. Not knowing your specific job while serving I would suggest some basic courses in Arboriculture. Depending on weather you were enlisted or non-com or commissioned in the service can also determin to a point which direction you may wish to go. Not knowing your financial situation I believe School/Work in the Arboriculture field part time or full depending on many factors may be your best course of action. Good hunting. elg
  2. It is inevitable that Echo's quality will continue to improve due to it's somewhat recent acquisition of Shindaiwa also of Japan. Expect to see big improvements in the future and more competition for Sthil/Husky. elg
  3. Dear Mark: Sorry for your loss, I to know how tough this is. Sad regards elg.
  4. Like any other commodity if there is a market for it people will try and sell what they believe has value weather real or imagined. I have actually sold palm trees for my clients in the past, acting as a broker. My client was happy and so was the buyer. It was a win win, however most people have no idea about the value of something hence the disappointment and or unusual offers for tree work and removal of trunks. I guess they don't know unless they ask?. Some clients need more training than others.
  5. Nice site Sam, in answer to Alex question, Google seems to be interested in good quality content with no BS. For the most part your reputation and quality of content will continue to get higher Google ratings more than anything else. Good hunting. elg
  6. With any event improvements can and will be made for the future as i have commented with a fellow member the numbers for this show compared to shows here in the states was very good and since I have not heard of any weathers issues even better still. These events take a lot of planning and help to pull them off and it sounds like Gustharts did great job and can only get better with future events. Congratulations and much future success. elg
  7. For the first 10 years of my business I had only one phone number and shared my fax machine with the same number as well. For the last 8 years I have had a 866 number "toll free" and I also kept my local number as well. 3 years ago I also got a second line just for the faxes. If I had to do it again I would have had all in place from the beginning to the present. Mind you my coverage area is kinda of large but the increase in business has more than made up for the start up cost which was very low. Remember your investing in your companies communication needs and future business expansion. Good Hunting. elg
  8. Nice site, to the point and not a lot of use less information. What would we have done with out youtube? elg
  9. Sig Sauer really make fine quality arms I am sure you had a grand time. Good Hunting elg
  10. On the surface this story seems simple enough, a person doing his or her job and following rules and regulations. After seemingly avoiding an accident and preventing damage to property and person his reward is to fired?. Maybe there is more to the story then has been reported or maybe this will be the end of the story. In either case this is utter stupidity. Here in the states we have a good samaritan laws that help citizen who are willing to help others in auto accidents until additional help arrives for rescue. I guess the same does not apply for doing the right or correct thing for work. Really dumb. elg
  11. Depending on how close the trees are to the wall and shallow or invasive the root system is could be your next course of action. Based on your one picture and details, I would explain to the client that the trees over time have contributed to the leaning of the wall and that in the short term it best to remove wall first, and than the trees. Replant with something less invasive and suggest a nice hedge in place of a slate wall for the future. The wall is a public safety issue in my opinion and the trees in time will continue to be an problem. Of course pull all of the needed permits and make sure everything is in writing. If you need a deposit down for this job, by all means secure one. This looks like a fairly good size project. All the best. elg
  12. I like and use both Power-Pruner and Sthil version of same type of product. The latest model of the Power-Pruner with the larger engine is also nearly 2' longer fully extended compared to same Sthil model!. Good Hunting. elg
  13. would that be the EU?. Maybe they will run out of money in the future as well?
  14. Interesting, a possible tool will consider adding to list. more information required.
  15. We have the same type here as well woodpicker, Code enforcment is their name here, only advantage to a bad economy is most of the staff for this department has been let go, Not in the budget. One silver lining from a bad economy. elg
  16. Tell me what you need I will ship to you from any number of my Sthil dealers here in the states that vend my product. all the best elg
  17. You mentioned earlier about having some job training with some tree surgeons in the past. I believe that you are still on good terms with these people and I would advise you to learn from them and seek as much guidance and assistance as possible. The additional advice and information you will seek from this forum will be priceless for your future. "Remember no one can pimp yourself or the services better than your self" Best Regards elg
  18. tommer 9 is correct. Firewood production for me in SW Florida is seasonal at best and it only takes a few warm winters to loose customers enough for it to no longer be profitable. I hated to tell the customers i had that i had retired but for the most part they understood. elg
  19. Tony, try and get over your self. You don't know me and you don't live here. Since there are many people named George think what you like.
  20. There are companies here in the states offering like services, not really going gang busters slowing economy still hurting across the board!
  21. The problem with treating people like you would like to be treated is very challenging these days. My father would have nothing to do with slackers. In the end doing something good taught you Two things. Stay in contact with the ones that earned their keep and keep the ban on the balance.
  22. Sounds like opportunity knocking!, if you have everything else in place I would go for it. Sounds like good advise from this post already. Happy Hunting.
  23. Google tree guard and you will discover several different means of dealing with your future problem with rabbits and the like, information from the Extension Notes of Ontario, Canada I believe ?. Here in Florida with Citrus tree production in the groves we have the same issues Peter and the rest of his cotton tail family!. Good Hunting.
