  1. Dear Tomtrees; The Yanks are correct. Curious George and his Hoodlems tryed and failed to increase Ethanol from 10% to 15%. Non-ethanol fuel is hard to secure here in the states and the only reliable source has been boat marinas. It seems that ethanol fuels will destroy boat moters faster than Two/Four cycle engines. Shop at name brand locations only.
  2. Here in the states we also have many break-in's and loss of gear. Usually the perps that pull this off are in it for quick cash. Might I suggest contacting local Pawn or loan shops for items fitting the descriptions of the stolen items, along with serial numbers and any other ID marks. Usually but not always local law enforcement work with these businesses trying to recover stolen goods. Considering the UK market and number of retail locations selling equipment to the end user, I am wondering why a anti-theft devise could not be installed on saws and other such items of value for tracking purposes. A simple magnetic strip could be installed from the point of purchase and if someone was really clever they could link this information to a app. via a smart phone so as when the items leave a certain location a message would alert the owner and or Police. "Work smarter not harder".
  3. Dear Chaffey: Point taken. I shall work out a method for removal of such waste. Any takers on opening up a gator farm in the south of England?, just a thought.
  4. Dear Chaffey: I never said I would leave any bodies, what's unreasonable about that. Someone needs to feed the gators in the Glades. Just doing my part to help the overall ecology.
  5. Dear Dorian: I can understand the difference in price considering the exchange rate at this time. The CE mark can be a problem, I know from my own experiance with exporting product into the UK. I also agree with warranty issues and any dealers wanting to work on said equipment. There may also be issues with fuel blends for US brand equipment and available fule blends for EU equipment. You may just have to bite the bullet and go with your local supplier.
  6. Surround your shed with a 8' chain link fence topped off with razor wire. If you can run current thru it and have a Battery back up with a alarm going to your cell phone that would also be a good idea. Of course secure the best locks available, just like other post you want to make it as hard and time consuming for the perks to give up or get caught in the act. If they do get caught in the act I believe in taking no prisoners.
  7. The palms you are dealing with are very tough to maintain much less remove. I have removed palms like the one described by layering 4 to 6" sections at a time from where the froms start down. depending on the thickness of the palm and water content I find this to be the easiest way. Cleaning your equipment always very important esp. with palms since the juices will do a number on the saws. Advice comming to you from SW. Florida USA.
  8. Dear Bob: You look like a honest man, and I still do't believe you!
  9. Dear John: All industries reach a saturation point. Moving to other areas may help with more work but not higher pay. I believe you should continue to keep up with your schooling and focus on the things you are really good at and really work hard on improving those skills. Remember no one can pimp yourself or your service better than you. At least that is what I have done.
  10. Dear Rob: As an inventor I know of your concerns. I believe that anyone you work with needs to sign a non disclosure agreement with you. This will protect you and your idea to a point. If whoever you want to deal with refuses to sign such an agreement my advise would be to thank them and leave at once. Your idea is only as good as the people you know and trust to work with you and not against you. You may wish to contact some of your local schools to seek advise and or assistance. If you have the funds available a Patent att. might also be a good idea to perform a Patent search for your idea or product. FYI If you try to secure Patent rights to protect you all over the world, I hope you have pockets 50 feet deep. You will need it!. Remember the patent rights will not protect the inventor, that is up to the attorney and the court to decide. I wish you the best since the Inventors road is very long and not for jack wagons or the faint of heart.
  11. I agree with Timber Cutter unless mowing of turf is part of your core business you may think twice before making the additional investment of time/material cost before you see a return on investment. The fact that you have a much shorter growing season for your turf should also factor in to taking on this job.
  12. Here in the states I would provide a discount off the job est. if I was the winning bider. Working for nothing in any industry much less the tree industry is ok if you or your employer can afford it. There are many hidden cost and benifits from hiring someone for the sake of getting started in ones job. I prefer to hire someone fresh out of school and pay according to knowledge and desire to make something better of ones self. Working for nothing still pays the same problem is it's hard to pay the bills from experience.
  13. You got that right, and willing to hold on to your soul and not selling out becuse your a Jack Wagon dosent hurt either. easy-lift guy.
  14. Dear Mark: We have people here in the US that not only expect but demand the status quo and if there is no funding available to support their life style than everything must come to a halt,or so they think. I come from a very hard working family much as I believe most people in the Arborcultural industry. Mainly self reliant by nature and willing to help others willing to help them selfs. Regards easy-lift guy
  15. Dear Mark: easy-lift guy here, I have never heard of such a thing in my life. This is one more example of something for nothing and sooner or later everyone pays. Free clothing vouchers are insane at the least. FYI I have never heard of such a thing here in the States as well. Regards easy-lift guy
  16. It is a shame that the owners of the companies selling these items cannot be held accountable? or can they?.
