  1. Perhaps an urban legend. easy-lift guy
  2. Greeting's all, Here are a few pictures from the roving photo journalist aka Steven Newcastle. The first day was very well received with more pics to follow, some pictures you may even recognized. All the best. easy-lift guy Click HERE to view photos from the TCI Expo 2011
  3. Lee them quotes you posted sound like a tv host from the 60's over here in the states call Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood. A child like show for children on the dopy side of life. The price one gets for work is the price agreed between Two willing parties. Anything more than that is really conjecture and speculation at best and at worse a load of BS. easy-lift guy
  4. Andrew, your decision will depend on how long you really wish to be with your present employer. I understand your loyality and there will come a time when you will make a decision. Could you have a face to face with the boss or owner and see about ways of generating additional tree work?. You will need to be tactfull regarding how you begin this subject and honestly impress upon this person that you are very thankful for the job. Perhaps you can suggest additional ways of generating jobs that would work towards your mutual needs met? All the best. easy-lift guy
  5. Most consulting firms can offer many services weather it be a package deal for advisement or specific matters. Like anything else some are better than others. I believe it is important to shop with certain needs and wants up front when dealing with said firms. Be specific and don't let someone sell you a bunch of anything when shopping for what you need to meet your specific goals. easy-lift guy
  6. sasha, it def. sounds like they new what they were shopping for. I hope you recover your stolen property. may I suggest a thread on stolen kit I did a few months back called means and methods of protecting your kit from theft. Some of the information may be old hat and than againg some may be more helpful for the future. Take care. easy-lift guy
  7. Here in the states we also have a type of wood pecker know as the yellow bellied sap sucker this bird really enjoyes pecking and slurping the sap from maple trees amoung other sap producing trees as well as insect consumption. The last picture in this thread could have been taken in SW Florida, USA since I have seen the like many times over the years. easy-lift guy
  8. I believe the instructor should have done a better job of teaching the basics first instead of suggesting shiney things that may or may not work. The sales person was only filling an order and some folks in sales can fill orders better in person than over the phone or internet. easy-lift guy
  9. Cold/dry 34 ATM at BWI on my way to Hartford for TCIA. Been waiting all summer for this weather change. easy-lift guy
  10. MankeyJohn: The conversion would = 280 Pounds. After calculating your expenses determine what you need to make off of this job for your profit. I believe it would be a good idea if you leave friendship out of your calculations since your in business to make a profit first. If the customer is happy with the price and quality of your work the friendship will have been earned and so it begins, your journey along the road of the self-employed. Your among a selected group of other professionals living the dream and sharing one another's trials and tribulations along the way. Keep us posted. All the best. easy-lift guy
  11. Sounds like the infection had some time to work it's way into your jaw bone. I almost had this happen to me and I was able to have the molar removed before it got any worse. That was over Two years ago and all is well. My advise visit your dentist for a cleaning at least once a year. Remember if you do not have your health you really have nothing. Take care and I hope your feeling better, easy-lift guy
  12. Surgery may indeed be your best option at this time. I would also get at least Two more opinions as well. I once had some frayed cartilage in my knee and did not require any surgery for the recovery, however did have to incorporate a lot additional stretching Twice a day for 3 months. It did heal on it's own from that point and have had no problems since. Hope you get it sorted out sooner than later, really tough to function with out a good nights sleep! easy-lift guy
  13. All quiet on the Western Front for the 30th and the 31st, Did manage to scare some kids with my Gorilla Costume for the annual gig. Just love to scare the poo nearly out of them and to see the shear terror in their faces!. They keep coming back every year and as they say the show must go on. easy-lift guy
  14. Nice pics, hope your well on the road to a full recovery. easy-lift guy
  15. No prisoners! easy-lift guy
  16. Andrew, Woodpeckers will create many holes for harvesting insects in trees that are dead and dieing. Do take care like woodchopper said if you are going to do any climbing for removal of said tree. Looking forward to the pics. easy-lift guy
  17. My only advice from timber farms here in the states is make sure you count every truck leaving your site, also the harvesting company should be able to meet your requirements for replanting. Also get references from this firm and contact his clients. Be an informed seller of your commodity. All the best. easy-lift guy
  18. Mark I would suggest that you carefully invest your Working Capital with the bare Minimum of kit you can afford. Build off of your strengths and learn from others and keep your mistakes to a Min. There usually more expensive than most are willing to admit. Observe the KISS method for your advertising and establish a budget for all of your expenses. This may sound silly and trivial but many people go into business with the best intentions and after one season if their equipment is worth 5 cents on the Dollar and no reserves left to draw off of things start to appear pretty bleak in a hurry. All that being said I would suggest having at least 1 years worth of funds available to take care of your day to day bills. This is not a rainy day fund, it is $$$$ that you should have any way in the event that things don't pan out!. I concur with jimbob that advertising should be concise and to the point. Don't waste money on fluff and whistles. The customer wants basic service to start out and always honor you customers wishes, unless the property is covered with Poo in which case "I believe you should stay away from at all cost". I do not believe at this time you will need a Web-Site since your only getting started. I believe if you can see a 20% growth from year to year use funds from said growth to expand with a web-site and with your customers permission allow them to brag about your good work. It will pay back better since they will be happy to help and they like to net-work with friends/neighbors. There is no one that can Pimp yourself better than YOU!. All the best. easy-lift guy
  19. Taupottreeman is very correct. I only had this happen to me a few times and on each occasion I more or less told the customer I could not help them with any type of work for their property. Not a one every questioned why as I did my best to clean my work boots before I got in my truck. easy-lift guy
  20. Just curious were the "tubes" contaminated with weed seed in the first place?, and I am wondering about any long term effects regarding herbicide contact and possible translocation of said herbicide to root system of weeds and than trees over time?. easy-lift guy
  21. You may have Mono? or the Flu or both. Hope your feeling better, If you do have Mono lots of bed rest will be in order. easy-lift guy
  22. BOB or go to bed with no milk and cookies. easy-lift guy
  23. Dear Joe, Really nice truck. Just curious were you able to get a case of new truck smell so it will at least smell like a new truck for the next year?. Enjoy and take care. easy-lift guy
  24. So another words you have the right to fight it out in court?. Sounds a little more than vague to me. easy-lift guy
  25. You are correct and let's not forget the PRICE! easy-lift guy
