  1. Like anything else the key word id "unique", make sure you can get spare parts for anything like "unique", or vintage. Otherwise when it go's down for lack of spares it may up being a common piece of scrap metal. easy-lift guy
  2. Cot, the answer to your question would be both, in a perfect situation. I would suggest going to your supplier and try on the various kit you are interested in and make sure the dealer has a clear knowledge of their product line. Next step would be to ask for at least 3 customers that use the type of gear your interested in and arrange a demo with them to better advise you on the product line. More times than not this will not be an issue for the dealer to provide you with this information. The Key is to be an informed consumer since this is an "investment" for your future source of income. I believe if you follow this simple suggestion you will be more confident with your purchasing decision and there will be less stress over the whole matter, let us know how you made out. All the best. easy-lift guy
  3. Morten it sounds like your a big fan of Aspen and the product seems fool proof, no pund intended. That being said,"knowledge is power" and this thread has pretty much covered the gambit of possible solutions for solving ATC's Saw issue. If all else fails he may still have to take the saw into a local repair shop for it to run again. That in it's self would not be the end of the world but lessons learned have different prices at different times. Let us know how you make out and for the most part the membership is trying to help with a little razzing thrown in at no additional charge! All the best. easy-lift guy
  4. Dave, Round-up will work much better under warmer conditions when active growth is taking place. With a year round growing season here it takes longer when it get's colder. Might I suggest adding a ts. of dish washing liquid per gal. of H20. This is a poor mans spreader sticker and the folks selling Round-up really don't want you to know, so I did not tell you. easy-lift guy
  5. Offering to help deliver logs is great. Any real knowledge with towing a trailer full of logs and driving with traffic conditions during the winter would be more of a concern to me. I guess your wife has the knowledge and confidence to be able to help you with this task and driving with an automatic is always easier. I would just make sure that her confidence level matched her driving skills first and foremost. This will keep the Drama to a Minimum. Auto all the way. easy-lift guy
  6. " Got to pay your dues of you want to ding the Blues and you know it don't come easy" Ringo Starr/GeorgeHarrison. Take the song to heart. easy-lift guy
  7. The person you refered to as a customer was actually a jack wagon. Here in the states most people would love to have the type of wood to burn nearly regardless of the size material. What ever you do don't take it personel. I believe the customer was looking for an excuse for a better price at your own expense. I would add this person to my Black book and never serve again. easy-lift guy
  8. And some more pics from day 2 of the TCI Expo 2011 Click HERE for photos of Day 2 at the TCI Expo 2011 ...plus a video for you Watch the Rope Machine enjoy ELG
  9. As a Cat owner I find your suggestion offensive, however highly effective I am sure. Thanks for sharing. easy-lift guy
  10. Thanks Dave, more to come and I hope to download some vid if possible. easy-lift guy

  12. Lee them quotes you posted sound like a tv host from the 60's over here in the states call Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood. A child like show for children on the dopy side of life. The price one gets for work is the price agreed between Two willing parties. Anything more than that is really conjecture and speculation at best and at worse a load of BS. easy-lift guy
  13. Andrew, your decision will depend on how long you really wish to be with your present employer. I understand your loyality and there will come a time when you will make a decision. Could you have a face to face with the boss or owner and see about ways of generating additional tree work?. You will need to be tactfull regarding how you begin this subject and honestly impress upon this person that you are very thankful for the job. Perhaps you can suggest additional ways of generating jobs that would work towards your mutual needs met? All the best. easy-lift guy
  14. Most consulting firms can offer many services weather it be a package deal for advisement or specific matters. Like anything else some are better than others. I believe it is important to shop with certain needs and wants up front when dealing with said firms. Be specific and don't let someone sell you a bunch of anything when shopping for what you need to meet your specific goals. easy-lift guy
  15. sasha, it def. sounds like they new what they were shopping for. I hope you recover your stolen property. may I suggest a thread on stolen kit I did a few months back called means and methods of protecting your kit from theft. Some of the information may be old hat and than againg some may be more helpful for the future. Take care. easy-lift guy
  16. Here in the states we also have a type of wood pecker know as the yellow bellied sap sucker this bird really enjoyes pecking and slurping the sap from maple trees amoung other sap producing trees as well as insect consumption. The last picture in this thread could have been taken in SW Florida, USA since I have seen the like many times over the years. easy-lift guy
  17. I believe the instructor should have done a better job of teaching the basics first instead of suggesting shiney things that may or may not work. The sales person was only filling an order and some folks in sales can fill orders better in person than over the phone or internet. easy-lift guy
  18. Cold/dry 34 ATM at BWI on my way to Hartford for TCIA. Been waiting all summer for this weather change. easy-lift guy
  19. MankeyJohn: The conversion would = 280 Pounds. After calculating your expenses determine what you need to make off of this job for your profit. I believe it would be a good idea if you leave friendship out of your calculations since your in business to make a profit first. If the customer is happy with the price and quality of your work the friendship will have been earned and so it begins, your journey along the road of the self-employed. Your among a selected group of other professionals living the dream and sharing one another's trials and tribulations along the way. Keep us posted. All the best. easy-lift guy
  20. Sounds like the infection had some time to work it's way into your jaw bone. I almost had this happen to me and I was able to have the molar removed before it got any worse. That was over Two years ago and all is well. My advise visit your dentist for a cleaning at least once a year. Remember if you do not have your health you really have nothing. Take care and I hope your feeling better, easy-lift guy
  21. Surgery may indeed be your best option at this time. I would also get at least Two more opinions as well. I once had some frayed cartilage in my knee and did not require any surgery for the recovery, however did have to incorporate a lot additional stretching Twice a day for 3 months. It did heal on it's own from that point and have had no problems since. Hope you get it sorted out sooner than later, really tough to function with out a good nights sleep! easy-lift guy
  22. All quiet on the Western Front for the 30th and the 31st, Did manage to scare some kids with my Gorilla Costume for the annual gig. Just love to scare the poo nearly out of them and to see the shear terror in their faces!. They keep coming back every year and as they say the show must go on. easy-lift guy
  23. Nice pics, hope your well on the road to a full recovery. easy-lift guy
