  1. Sounds about right for a council employee, but you go and start cutting trees down and they will soon be on your case (they may even sacrifice elevenses to be on site that day) its the same with a lot of things in this day and age where other organisations and people have more of a say at what you do, than you do your self, but unfortunately we have to slow to their speed which is all most STOP.
  2. Hi what do you call large amount ? 100 200 300 tonne could put you in touch with some one who could supply.
  3. Sorry to point this out,but if you are worried about safety issues with them and you say £65 is a lot of money , just look at it from this angle a trip to hospital and a couple of weeks of work would cost you more than £65.BUY NEW.
  4. Hi been running a still ms241 on a 14" bare since 2013 I find it light nimble easy to start and cuts well other lads who have picked it up all say f--k me that cuts and it does, I wouldn't think twice about another, other ease 260x2, 341,460 and 660 but first one I pick up is the 241 even when felling big trees up to what I can manage with a heart cut.
  5. Hi I hope this helps you what you said about 1man band is correct if no risk to others no HSE lawes applies, when it comes to forwarding trailers with crane fitted no loler rules applied as if you read HSE pages forestry forwarders are loler exempt, I have forklift on 3 point linkage on tractor only use it myself and I under stand it that I don't need loler certificate.
  6. All so common practice in UK now a site I have been on recently all brash and chip wood to be stacked roadside in next few weeks
  7. A guy about 7-8 mile from me has done it cargo engine with turbo pulls like a train and goes like **** off a stick 38mph but he says its not safe at that .it looked good sounds fantastic and performs like a 75 k tractor of today but his is 48 yes old .
  8. Hi good to fell easy dressing out felled about 3500 tonne on a steep bank that was felled to waste due to being infected, had nightmares about it as it was a site with very few infected trees and some cracking straight 100ft poles with 600mm dbh
  9. Hi 120x30ft building (1/4 of 120x120 building particained off) small outside storage area for ibc crates pallets etc and a big yard round corner (100yds away)where I can get several arctic loads of timber dropped got water and electric in building £100 per calendar month.
  10. I find the above hard to believe I have a 51plate cabstar 30k on it when I got it 6 years ago got 63k on now pulls Ifor tipper about loaded and well loaded it had been looked after before I got it and looked after since apart from servicing (on a regular basis ie every 5-6k) its cost me 4 tyres 1 exhaust, 1 starter motor,1 battery and 2 front shockers over 6 years ,just been to Cardiff to collect a dumper in it on sat 496mls round trip 65-70mph worked out 33.8 to the gallon, so have i a shed load of money to spend on mine in the future,?.
  11. You don't hang about you lads !
  12. Yes and foggy had one in bsb and was on one when he had his epic battle with hislop onboard the 588 Norton on the isle of man in 1990, I just wish I could get Ben to part with his but its like every thing else he has you ask , and its I will get round to it, but he never will.
  13. Hi yes I think its correct title would be Yamaha fzr 750r exup owo1 I am sure its on a G plate so that would be 89/90 so that should be correct as I think they first appeared about 88 ?.
  14. It snapped a con rod big hole in engine block, but as I said Ben is Ben he can't leave any thing as standard every thing he gets he has to do improvements to it,but never gets owt sorted properly ,my mate can do that, his garage (30x60 ft farm building) is full of unfinished projects or things he has f----d up, the one project I wouldn't mind is a mid/late 80s Yamaha 750 exup with about 3000mls on it he's said he was going to get it doing 180-190 mph I don't think the factory race bikes did that ?,its all in a box in about a thousand pieces.
  15. It may be a returned uigate milk float with a chip box on and a new shinny tow bar .!.
  16. Good things and bad things about this, a guy I shoot with got a new ranger 65 plate (sure he said it was about 210bhp as standard ? Tell me if I am wrong ) after about 4 months Ben being ben had it re mapped to about 255bhp 6 WK later it through a con rod nearly destroyed the engine totally took it back to ford, they new what had been done and when so they said the warranty was void, £5400 for repair all to get a extra 5 mpg , he wasn't right happy when I said £5400 would buy an awful lot of diesel.
  17. Yes so two up here in lancs on Friday but could of seen them on Tues but thought I was seeing things ? Age to blame.
  18. Yes check by all means and changing it would not hurt: many Years ago a old bloke I worked with quoted to me one day,,oil is cheap mechanical parts aren't.
  19. Nice one, he didn't look very happy, even thou he won.!.
  20. Hi take it off if it has a number on it ? Ring whitehouse products (big hydraulic company at port Glasgow )if no number to cross reference, email a photo with dimensions on I am sure they will sort it out for you and they arnt dear either.
  21. ChasW originally says 30 cube from a clear fell, fresh felled birch is 1.07 cube per tonne stacked in the round, your cube is cut n split logs which 50% of is fresh air so your timber is costing £50 tonne delivered in which you then cut n split which is where you get your £25 cube delivered big difference between a cube of timber stacked at roadside in lengths in a forest to a cube of 10" split logs either in my yard or yours.
  22. AND WHAT ? £30 a cube or tonne is very very cheap to hardwood delivered in we currently getting £32.50 for softwood chip roadside.! What's the difference on a MTR cube & a tonne of same said birch ?
  23. £30 a tonne delivered for processor sized logs ,em, I was getting £35 a tonne for larch at roadside 2 yr ago ,£30 a tonne delivered I think you better get me a couple hundred tonne please.
  24. Hi, I take it the 80-100 quid is for cut split seasoned logs ready to burn ? Roadside price from £37-47 per tonne depending on quality .
  25. May be gob to small and hinge a little on the big side one thing I learnt many years ago off a old guy was 1 fifth gob cut 1 tenth hinge, works fine for me but back to the cut in question defiantly should of been a dog tooth .
