  1. Well that's no sugi bars to me then ! Not good customer service that post .
  2. Hi, as said before some teeth are difficult to sharpen and some seem softer ? As for the service ordered 15 chains and a 20" 3/8 bar when delivered holes in bag, no bar and 4 chains missing wasn't there fault but may be packaging could be better to save the hasel of having to ring and sort out, was sorted quickly and order made good cutting wise OK but just use them on domestic jobs now, so its back to Oregon for commercial cutting in the woods.
  3. Nowt dodgy about it ,its 20ft behind him and its more like bad camera angle, tree hung up in top of a lodgepole and a birch had to put a cut in birch then pull spruce and birch + half of lodgepole with tractor no way that was going to fall.
  4. Tractor is Kubota l3250 4wd 40hp , move it about on 10ft ifor trailer works well for us as its only 5ft wide so can get down between rows of trees without taking any thing down.
  5. Hi this was the job today and for next month or so windblown and standing sitka
  6. Best things for removing sitka resin I have found over the years are methes and a more modern addition is them lenses /glasses cleaning wipes out of aldi, cutting spruce at the moment, was standing but its now on the floor in a right tangled up mess some over fence in to field so more work.
  7. Yes totally agree some tutors are complete bellends ant the odd assessor who's an arsehole , only thing to add to this is left thumb round the front handle and not along side it, print the criteria sheet of the NPTC website and read it till you have memorised it and there's plenty of vids on YouTube to watch ,all the best and good luck with it ,stay calm and relaxed its not about how fast you can do it, its doing it in a safe controlled manor.
  8. WHERE may help ?.
  9. That's. Most I have had on it tare 2.92 gross 8.44 = 5.52,tonne
  10. Towing 4-5 tonne of timber that's with 10 ft ifor tipper 1 1/2-2 tonne on pick up 2 1/2-3 tonne on trailer and it don't struggle , don't look over loaded straight up to 60mph o mway and there's lads on this site I take timber from will vouch for what I take away from there jobs, if I new how to upload pics I would put em on but I don't.

  12. Hi had both transit and now have a cabstar the transit seemed gutless compared to my cabstar that drags a 10ft Ifor tipping trailer with cage sides on loaded with log , think nothing of movie g 4-5 tonne of timber with it , cabstar is the 3 ltr not new but only done 64k , transit was a 52 plate cabstar 04 plate and now had 9 years and if it lasts will still have in 9 yes.
  13. My mum all ways told me that money doesn't grow on trees' well here is the evidence that it really doe's , can't wait to show her.
  14. NO Lawson leylandi cypress or hemlock, WHY NOT it all burns when dry, Lawson and sitka on my stove as I wright this gives good heat and better than some hardwoods , even if you take a mixture of both soft & hardwood your more likely to get a regular supply than being Choosey, I have several tree surgeons I collect timber from, I take some softwood but 70% I would say is hardwood and at the moment have more than I know what to do with.
  15. Can't believe no one has mentioned not going out & Mrs browns boys, not going out must be one of the best comedy's of recent times or is it crap ? Well I don't mind it as its full of quick one liners .
  16. I totally agree the comedy is like today's music crap, only fools n horses, George & Mildred ,the late great Ronnie barker in both porridge and the first open all hours and of course rising damp that they could not make today as it would not be politically correct for rigsby to take the piss out of Philips culture, some time back in the 80s when Chanel 4 first started I used to rush home from the local to watch the Paul hogan show, any one else do that.
  17. Hi I use a still expert, vented, seems comfortable got good ear defenders as well, on my second one now as first one fell out of the back window of the tractor then some arshole backed over it , quite surprised at how it stood up to it thou .put rain flap on back and seems OK. Buy anothere tomorrow .
  18. Manufacturer is a small agricultural engineering firm local to me , total cost not yet finalised, no photos as yet but they will be loaded on here in the future.
  19. The other 3 cube is for personal consumption and if you get a licence, WHY do you say you can't fell your own trees ? It don't matter who fells them .
  20. What would you like to know, ? I can tell you I am heavily involved in it and all components used are all top notch for max reliability I.e kubota, Eton Vickers, char Lyme etc.
  21. Grants available for planting , fencing , gates then a ten year maintenance payment a lot of new woodland being created in the northwest at present.
  22. J , I can tell you there is a 8 WD mini forwarder being built in the UK at the moment that will be sub 2 tonne, carry 2.5+ tonne 45hp 8 wheel hydrostatic drive.
  23. If it was not for the forestry act and the forestry commission putting rules and regulations in place there would be no trees left, a felling licence does not cost only the price of a stamp.
  24. 6p per tree don't seem much to me , who you working for ? Roughly 250 trees per hour so 8 hr working day = £120 a day then all that traveling on top + fuel expended etc , can you not bnb it and spend more time planting as once your there your there and off set your costs against each other . last time I planted sitka was 2 yes ago on a steepish bank in to unpreped groud and got 15p per tree did some hardwoods last Feb/march and got 75p per tree tubed and staked . if you go on the forestry commission website (which is massive ) you will find guides to pricing don't ask me how to find the page as I couldn't tell you but its a very helpful pays when you find it, but at 6p a tree some one is having your pants down .
